so about that flyer...

[ there's a bit of a commotion tonight, and many locals are talking about something happening up on the island. anyone curious enough to check it out would first notice a glowing shore to match a starry sky; it seems to be a type of jellyfish causing this.

immediately afterward they would undoubtedly see a very large boat having apparently docked itself on the shore. there's no captain in sight and it appears to be completely inoperable, so it's a full-blown mystery on how it arrived on the shore. it certainly doesn't look like a normal boat though— probably due to the fact that it is utterly decked out for a party.

there are streamers, balloons, and a whole lot of glitter on deck. there's even a large banner that reads:

☆ HAVE FUN!!! ☆

on deck there are speakers blasting a nautical-style party music should dancing be your thing. nearby there's plenty of good food for the eating, along with a gratuitous amount of chapagne (with a non-alcoholic brand for the underage); a champagne tower can also be seen. party games are encouraged, and a few are even already set up (such as the large whale-themed piñata).

[Signless keeps a tight hold on Dualscar's hands, but he slows down his kicking, and what do you know, he's keeping his head above the water. He shoots an unsure look at the seadweller.]

This... this isn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Swwimmin' isn't hard. Look at all the incredibly dumb animals that manage it. [That was sort of a joke. Sort of.

He smiles faintly, but encouragingly] If you can do this stroke, you'll nevver drowwn unless someone pulls you right dowwn. So you'vve already learned somethin' vvaluable.

Really? Kicking like this will keep you from drowning?

[Signless believes Dualscar... but he's also not going to let go of his hands, either.]

You're stayin' wwith your head abovve the wwater aren't you? I'm not doin' anything to help that. [Signless is...actually really cute. Dualscar is enjoying this a hell of a lot more than he actually expected.] You'll get tired evventually, though, so sooner or later you'll wwant to learn howw to movve forwward and backwwards.

[Now that he's not getting dragged underwater, Signless is enjoying himself too. Dualscar is a good teacher, and seeing how much the seadweller enjoys himself in the water is helping Signless' enthusiasm.]

That's advvanced stuff considering you wwere panickin' a moment ago. [Dualscar's tone is arch, but there's a smile on his lips] Let's start wwith floatin', instead. Lie dowwn on your back, I'll support you.

[He begins to encourage Signless with gentle pushes to lie down on his back in the water, pushing with one hand on his chest and pressing up with his other hand on his back]

[Signless agreeably lets Dualscar push him backwards. He stiffens just a little as the water laps up around his ears and his face, but then relaxes into the water's embrace.]

This is nice.

[And it is. It's quiet out here on the water, the sounds from the boat muffled, and he's here with his moirail looking up at the stars.]

Just keep yourself stiff. You wwon't sink, then.

[Dualscar supports him as he relaxes, then gently takes the hand away and stretches out himself, taking Signless' hand once more so they don't drift apart.]

...It is nice, yes.
