◣ Summer Fair ◢

If anyone actually wanders up there, they will find the whole village decorated with strings of light, fish shaped lanterns, streamers, and kelp. Just past the North edge of the Village was a fair.

There was a large stage in the center of the fair, rides, a fortune teller, contests, games, a petting zoo, a fish exhibit, stalls, booths and everything else you can find at a fair.

He looked up when he heard her voice, grinning slightly. Don't ask how he got the candle out of the lantern without setting the delicate thing (or himself) on fire. Sometimes it's better just to keep the mystery.

"Hi!" Mituna looked down to the lantern in his hands, giving a shrug. "What do I do with it?"

Nepeta knows when to leave something well enough alone!

She settles down next to him, holding her own lantern out from herself now, feeling it ready to take flight. "When they're put together, like this, the flame fills it with hot air and once you're ready to let it go, it'll fly off!"

"Oh." His expression twitched slightly, and he shook his head briefly to get his hair out of his eyes.

"... Why?"

Nepeta giggles at his hair fluffing about every which way once again. "Because they look pretty flying off in the night! ...I think? Mituna, can I ask you something?!"

He giggled a bit at her enthusiasm, then tilted his head and looked over at her with a puzzled expression.

"Yeah? 'Th up?"

"Would you mind it very very much if I asked to pet your hair a little bit? It looks so soft and fluffy!" she asks, looking suddenly and unusually shy. She's been wanting to ask that for ages, but it seemed a lot to be asking someone who's rather picky about being touched at all.

It was clear that he didn't expect that. His posture stiffened, shoulders hunching up faintly, and he stared at her as if he expected the act of doing so to change what she'd just said.

Then, he shook his head a bit, his hair fluffing up still further, and he grinned. Bitches coming 'round to his wiles, yo.

"Thure, you can pet it."

Oh dear. Maybe she shouldn't have asked. She looks uncertain when her question makes him react that way, even if he rallies quickly.

"Are you sure it's okay, Mituna?"

He ducked his head a bit, nodding and leaning towards her. "... Thure."

Not really that sure, but no one had ever really asked. Latula and Kurloz always did it anyway, but they'd always been allowed. Nepeta wasn't one of those, but she was his friend, so.. it was okay, right?

Him confirming it has Nepeta beaming at him, reaching out her hands eagerly. They pet his hair enthusiastically, fluffing it up a bit as she giggles, sounding enthralled. "Your hair is the most pawesome!"

He bristled up a bit when she first touched him, but quickly calmed down, closing his eyes as she petted at his hair.

By the time she spoke he could only get out a quiet 'hmm' around the humming, almost purring sound he was making thanks to the attention.

Nepeta giggles to herself at the happy purring noise he's making - it looks like he enjoys hair pettings almost as much as she does! She keeps fluffing those curls and petting him a while longer, making the most of this opportunity.

He leaned towards the petting, pressing his head up to the touch, then abruptly overbalanced into Nepeta's lap, letting out a startled squawk and scrambling away.

"Fh-fucking-- fuck. Thorry."

There's a surprised little squeal from Nepeta too, but then she bursts out laughing again.

"There there, it's okay!" She slides over a little closer, patting one shoulder comfortingly. "I'm glad I got to know you, you know, Mituna."

A faint yellow tinge dusted his cheeks as he watched her hand, then he grinned and rocked back and forth in a merry little movement.

"I'm glad too! You're pretty awethome."

D'aww. He's really rather adorable sometimes. Nepeta loves having such a cute friend. "We are both the most pawesome!" she declares, beaming a smile at him.
