If anyone actually wanders up there, they will find the whole village decorated with strings of light, fish shaped lanterns, streamers, and kelp. Just past the North edge of the Village was a fair.

There was a large stage in the center of the fair, rides, a fortune teller, contests, games, a petting zoo, a fish exhibit, stalls, booths and everything else you can find at a fair.

It's a part of troll biology. [Shrug.] One end of the hemospectrum is naturally warmer than the other.

[He shakes his head no.] I wouldn't have asked if you didn't bring it up first. I'm all for learning new things but after having an awkward conversation about nooks, I don't want pry.

Well, the troll race as a whole has eleven different colors of blood, not counting mutations such as bright red. The color shows in our eyes after a certain point in our adolescence, but until then is a nondescript gray. [Leaning down, Darkleer lowers his glasses over his nose just a bit. He actually has rather nice eyes even with the slight baggage beneath them, yellow surrounding a vivid blue iris. After a second of letting that sink in, he straightens again and readjusts his glasses.] Blue is traditionally considered fairly high on the hemospectrum.

It's also a way to annoy people and get them to talk about things they don't want to. [No, this has nothing to do with the fact that he has lots he doesn't want to talk about himself.]

Huh. That's neat. Our eyes aren't like that. I mean, they're genetic, but nothing to do with blood.

I know, I've read about it. We are also based off of bugs, and not mammals like humans are.

[May as well get rid of all the usual strange-to-humans things first.]

Based off of bugs? [He thinks about what he knows of bugs.] Does that mean you start our like larvae?

That's correct. The size of our grubs are, I believe, similar in size to human babies. They're all laid by the Mother Grub as eggs, and then they hatch.

Huh. So you all have the same parents? [He's not really sure how this works if there's only one Mother Grub.]

There is no such concept as a 'parent' in Alternian culture. [Oh here's the fun part. Yay reproduction talks!] When they are of proper age, a troll is visited by the Imperial Drone. The drone collects the mixed material of that troll and their concupiscent romantic partners. Then that drone brings it to the Mother Grub, who takes it into herself. All of the genetic material of the trolls that are brought to her are mixed inside of herself. Trolls who have the strongest relationships often find their genetics rising to the top.

In this manner, we are all related.

[Leo stares in abject horror for a minute before composing himself.]

Um. Okay. You could have said that with less detail. A lot less detail.

[Darkleer doesn't even bat an eye- not that it could be seen behind his shades anyway.]

It is a very natural process. I see no reason to be ashamed in talking about it. You should be quite thankful I did not go into detail about the purpose of buckets in the reproductive process.

I like to get all of the usual questions out of the way first. Is there anything else you would like to ask about our race?

Are you all this quick to give people the gritty details of troll reproduction? I mean, Equius wound up telling me about nooks, but that was during the truth curse so I don't know if that really counts as him being a king of TMI. But you just came right out and told me this with way more detail than I needed to know. So is this something particular to you, or something I can expect from anyone?

No, it isn't on either accounts. However, after having spent enough time in Vatheon as I have, I suspect such things would come out inevitably. I would rather talk about it now, when it is under my control, then have it come out during an inane or embarrassing moment by either curse or simply bad luck in conversational topics.

Maybe you should make like some Troll culture information pamphlets that can be given out with the welcome package. Might save everyone a lot of time and potential embarrassment.

[Sigh.] It has occurred to me to do so, perhaps with gathering the other cultures as well. I'll have to bring it up with Zelda and see what she thinks about it all.

That sounds like it'd be a very big undertaking bringing in all the others. I don't know how many other cultures there are here, but there's only a few of us demigods from my version of earth, and there's a lot of humans from a lot of different versions of earth and not all of them come from the same cultures.

I wouldn't go in depth, of course. I would simply do the basic and most important aspects, along with perhaps the name of individuals who are from that world. I suppose I will have to assign the different Earths numbers to show the difference...
