All bubbles pop eventually

Yesterday was a day of celebration. For once, it seemed that the foreigners were able to affect the coral, and in a positive way at that. The coral lit back up, the barrier strengthened, and everything looked like it was back to normal again.

Unfortunately, it doesn't last.

Overnight the coral begins to dim again, flickering wildly along with the bubble itself. Those who stayed up on the island might notice the strange lights coming up through the waves if they're awake. The ones who stayed in the bubble will notice more than that. The atmosphere is tense, and every now and then there's an echoing crack, like a massive piece of glass is slowly losing its integrity.

By the time the morning arrives, the crack in the bubble is evident. After hours of threatening it, the crack finally falls open with a thundering snap, allowing the ocean to rush in. It hasn't yet given up entirely, but there's a steady stream of water pouring in to the plaza and on to the coral. The waterfall would be a pretty sight if not for the situation.

Hopefully no one stayed down there that long.

Fuckin' hell...

[Amazingly that isn't at Kid's reaction, but at the bubble cracking. An entire year he lived under that damn thing and he never thought for a second that he'd actually be around to see something like this happen. It's unnerving at the very least, and stomach-wrenching awful at it's worst.

Rin just stares at it for the longest time, mouth open but no sound emitting. There's a thousand jumbled thoughts going through his head, but he can't pin one down long enough to actually mull over it.

Eventually he just... drops to his knees next to Kid, putting a hand on the poor reaper's back.]

Meanwhile, on the island...

[Luckily, Aya took the opportunity to actually flee with the good majority of others. Also, luckily, he isn't very concerned with worldly possessions, minus his sword, which he is currently holding in his hand. He notices the strange lights from below, but when he hears that loud crack, that really has him on edge.]

[He looks pretty flabbergasted at the water rushing in, and hopes that no one is down there that may not be able to get out on their own. See, this is why humans are meant to be above the water.]

[Fai drops the bag he was carrying as that water starts to flow into the bubble. He had vaguely seen the reports, heard rumor of issues, noticed the coral looked a little less sparkly then normal..but none of it had really sunk in. Perhaps he had been too distracted by the fact he had officially been in the bubble a year. Maybe he had just assumed things would always be calm..but now he knows better. It just might be a little too late.

He just stands there in shocked silence for a moment as that water rushes in from the crack above. Then he starts to back up. Very slowly at first, not sure what he should do but knowing he needs to get out of there and fast. He turns for the home he shares with the others, determined to make sure everyone else around him is out and safe before taking care of himself.]

[Naoto had quickly made her way to the elevators. While she had assisted Zelda the day before with lists, she wanted to be able to help in any way that she could.]

Island - Open

[N hadn't been worried about all the announcements and talks regarding the coral and the bubble. Not because he was dismissing things, but because he was finding it difficult to care. The last curse had left him in a strange state, drifting somewhere between angry and numb, and while his ability to speak to Pokemon had been returned with the disappearance of his tower, he had been more stoic and quiet than usual.

But it was Zoroark who eventually convinced him to go up to the island with everyone else. He listened, and kept a good distance from the decently sized crowd of residents as they gathered. They sat in relative silence, watching the celebration of the recharging of the coral.

The flickering of the coral didn't escape him, though, and he kept his attention on it far more than the relieved masses.

Soon enough the crack appeared and the ocean began to bubble and churn as it rushed in to the city. He was hardly surprised, and while Zoroark let out a worried whine, N simply shook his head.]

So it was a failed experiment after all...

Island - Open but looking for a certain Amarcian

[When the reports started coming in, Hubert helped with the evacuation efforts as was to be expected, but not before urging Pascal to pack what she could and head there herself. His Defense Force duties kept him from taking her there personally himself, but he had thought that merely a paranoid concern as it seemed the coral had been successfully recharged. He hadn't seen her since leaving to help, and the second the bubble cracked he felt as if his heart had fallen straight through his stomach to the ground.

He couldn't see her familiar red and white hair in the crowds as he weaved through them, desperately looking for her, neither in those already gathered or those running from the elevator as last minute stragglers trying to get away from the flooding waters.

He was scared, terrified that his warnings hadn't been heeded by her. What if she was still down there?!]

*The good news was, Pascal had actually heeded his warnings - as soon as the cracks had started to appear in earnest, she'd begun running up, then down, up, then down.

What? A life-threatening potential disaster WASN'T the time to be trying to get absolutely all of the stuff out of the Graces house and up to a tiny encampment she'd set up? Yeah, Hubert should have specified before her sixteenth trip down and up. Fortunately, she started as soon as the cracks started, so she's only been at it for twelve hours!

... Which might explain why, as the elevator reaches the apex of its latest journey up, she's coming up, a large cart full of stuff, looking really, really tired as she starts pushing it towards her little corner of the island... When she hears Hu.*

Open - a few hours after the bubble cracks

[This is, of course, an upsetting turn of events. But even upset people need to eat, and Rin has been feeling useless since the start of everything. There's just not much a fire wielding demon can do, you know?

Except that he is an excellent cook, and even upset people need to eat. In fact that's the most important time to! People needed to keep their strength up, after all, and while supplies were likely to be limited, they're available.

Various cooking supplies, including things that can be used for out door cooking, made it up with the rest of the things that have been taken to the island (or were already there, it's not like Rin was paying attention) and soon enough a collection of different delicious smells start wafting somewhere off from where most of the crowd is still gathered. Rin took care, of course, not to go overboard with what he's using (and he's provided a bit of his own fare given that they did have time to pack in between arguing with Shiro about the whole thing) since they don't want to burn through their rations.

But it's something, at least. It keeps his nerves calm, gives his hands something to do and is offering a service to people who need it. If anyone wanders over to see what's up he'll happily offer them a plate or a bowl off the tables he's set up, commenting that everyone should eat at least a little bit.]

[At some point, what wanders up to Rin isn't a person needing food. Then again, in Vatheon, maybe a giant four armed robotic gorilla does need food.]

[But that doesn't seem to be its purpose as it comes lumbering up to Rin. Maybe, inbetween his cooking, he's seen other robots designed in a similar style to this one, ducking into buildings or disappearing into the wilderness only to come back out and again and return to the elevator to go down. This is the first that will be approaching him, tilting its head to the side. It waits patiently for Rin to finish whatever he's doing.]

Simon isn't terribly concerned about the possessions in the apartment, save for the crown and Marceline's ax, both of which he has on him. Everything else is replaceable or not that important. At the moment his top priority is getting himself and Marceline out of the bubble before things get worse.

He can be found between the Pendilium and the elevator with a crown tied to his belt and an ax bass slung onto his back.]

[Marceline isn't nearly as worried. In fact, she seems to be glancing over at the crack in the bubble in nothing but interest as she float behind Simon.]

[Darkleer had been one of the first people to encourage his loved ones to get up to the island, taking everything they could in their sylladice and all the animals that they cared for. (With Leijons and Zahhaks, this was a lot of animals.) To see those bubbles rise from the sea... He had known quickly enough what had happened and was just relieved that he had gotten the others out quick enough.]

[However, with so many people coming up, he's one of the view that's actually going down. The purpose is made clear enough a little while later, when he makes a post to the network.]

[He's wearing a Zora tunic, and the breathing device is hanging around his neck just in case. It appears he's in one of the shops in Vatheon, and there are robots busy at work. Doing what? Taking things, of course!]

As I'm sure we're all aware by now, a crack has opened in the barrier and we are evacuating the city. However, with the current rate that it is filling up with water and counting the cave system as a natural drain, I believe I still have some time to take as much items as the robots and I can manage to take. I am focusing on food, technology, and building supplies.

However, if you have anything else you want me to retrieve, please let me know. [There's a chirping at his feet, and he sighs as he leans down and holds up an... Espeon? Anyone who was familiar with a little redhead named Lea might recognize it as his evolved Eevee Arden who's been running amok in his absence.] Also, I believe this is a type of... Pokemon? If someone could take this off my hands when I arrive topside, it would be a relief.

[Apparently 'poor timing' can be now added to the list of problematic traits that this yellowblood carries around with him. He's down in the bubble, retrieving his skateboard when that loud crack resounds through the air. Immediately, he sticks his back to the nearest wall, hugging his board tightly against his chest, eyes flung wide behind the visor of his helmet.

The next thing he hears is the sound of rushing water, but his knees are locked in fear. When he finally manages to move, it's more of a stumbling, hurried walk than anything that could be called a run. Running tends to lead to falling.

Of course, he might fall anyway. He heads in the direction he thinks he remembers the elevator being in, occasionally spotting other people to trail after.]

[With each fall, the robodogs try and steady him. RoboBlue is by far the more calm of the two, jerking its head up at every individual who approaches and looking fairly aggressive. Its protection program is as high as it can go. RoboRed, on the other hand, is just fussing over Mituna, frantic as it tries to help him to the elevator. Good thing the dogs know where to go even if the troll doesn't.]

Villa Meeting

[Alright guys- While everyone might be safe here at the moment it does not mean that they would remain safe for the whole time. As such Yukio has called for a brief meeting to alert everyone who lived in the villa to the fact that he is going to make a few trips back down to the bubble to collect a few things they had missed while trying to escape.]

[But for some reason he's still down here, staring at the water shortly after the bubble went ahead and gave way.

Sure, he's aware that he should gtfo, but he can easily teleport. No, he's more interested in figuring out if there's a way to slip through there and escape. It could be quite a swim... and a dangerous one. Not to mention the bubble would need to be broken more for even a twig like him to get out– Yeah, ok, this sounded better in his head.

And, look. LOOK. He did a noble thing, actually. 'cause what's that peeping sound? And chirping? Well, if you look closer you'll see he's got a couple of little Chocobos... nesting in his hair. Don't judge, man. They think he's their mother.

Standing on a rooftop he watches, arms crossed. He really should be moving things, gathering up some belongings... SOMEONE MAKE HIM DO THAT SHIT.]

[Faris had actually heeded the princess' concern and moved anything important up. Now he was just snooping around to see if anyone had left any thing that might be worth pinching, or if anyone he might have cared for was still loitering around. He had Demyx's Vaporeon tagging along next to him.

Spotting Axel was...pretty easy. Sorry, dude, but that hair with a backdrop of bubble doom was pretty much a flag from down below. Crazy Nobodies.

Faris went inside of the building. Picking up Athena to head up the stairs two at a time. The crack in the bubble is a nice water fall so it could very well hide the sound of the door opening and Faris putting the Vaporeon back down. But Faris laughing when hearing the sounds coming from his hair would definitely let Red know he wasn't alone]

I didn't know hair can make sounds. [Faris was helping himself in to Axel's hair space to get a good look at the little ones. Athena hung around close to Faris' ankles. She was probably told to stick close and guard Faris by her owner.]

Island | Open ; couple hours after the crack

[ Devit's an idiot but even he knows that when there are crack in the big underwater bubble you live in you get your ass out of there. Even if it the water's coming out slow you have no idea when that fucker was gonna just completely bust open. Well at least after a quick trick to the shopping district so he could stuff a couple duffle bags full of as much duck tape as he could fit... the kind in the fun colors and patterns of course, fuck you this was an emergency but like he'll he's just gonna use boring old standard silver.

Why duck tape? Because fuck you, you could do anything with that shit. You could rebuild society with mother fucking duck tape. Okay so maybe he also saved a few bottles of tequila and rum too. And of course a handful of eyeliner pencils.

So here he is, sitting on the beach, a bottle of rum planted in the sand next to him (because fuck he kinda wanted a drink) as he fiddles around with a roll of red polka dotted duck tape. He figures he can make a hammock with this shit because who they hell knew how long they'd be stuck up here. ]

[See, originally Nanaki was going to praise Devit for having the foresight to pack before fleeing to the island. She only had the clothes on her back plus a couple things she had shoved into her coat pocket before leaving the bubble, and she felt woefully unprepared. It is surprisingly smart of Devit, and Nanaki is beginning to wonder if she had called him an idiot prematurely.

But as soon as she got close enough to see into the open duffel bag she realizes that no, her initial assessment of him was correct. He is an idiot.]

Masaru has been going non-stop all day. In fact, he'd been rather active since Zelda first posited the warning, helping people move and prepare for the worst. And now once the bubble cracked... well, he'd been working to help get anyone out that was still down there. Thankfully, his Digi-Soul made all of this easier for him than most, and he'd managed to avoid any major accidents in his efforts.

But now... now he just needs to take a break. His body is numb, and so is his mind. The return of Agumon, and then losing him, and now all this... the young street fighter is just tired. Literally tired of everything.

And so he's sitting alone. He's dry now, of course, but keeping to himself all the same.

It's really not surprising that Rin is the one who finds him. Rin has a lot of friends in Vatheon, some closer than others, but him and Masaru have a connection that's been forged via time, disappearances, reappearances, and an odd sort of kinship in similar mentalities and ideals.

He had given Masaru some space during the week, knowing how hard it had been for him to lose Agumon yet again, but now with the bubble cracking... well he couldn't stay silent for long.

A bowl of rice and chicken gets placed in Masaru's hands, followed by Rin dropping down to sit next to him.

[It was at times like these that Bianca had a water pokemon with her. While Stoutland knows surf, there was no way he was able to withstand an impact like that! That was why she, like a good majority of the others, tried to run as fast as she could to get to the elevator.

However, unlike the others, she had to use Stoutland to try to get as many people as she could on his back!]

Well this wasn't good. This wasn't good at all. It sounded like someone had taken a hammer to a window pane. That light from before was unsettling too. The locals were all in a stir and scurried away from the bakery. Italy too had peered out of the bakery, gripping a ridiculously large white flag.

"...." Italy stared at the giant crack in the distance. "NO NO NO BUBBLE! YOU CAN'T CRACK! WE'RE HERE! WE'RE DOWN HERE! WE NEED YOU, MR. BUBBLE!" He wasn't sure what to do. He wasn't any sort of leader type. He just panicked in this kind of situation. He was left standing in the plaza, his knees buckling inward in fear. Why wasn't anyone here to rescue him?

*Someone decided to stay down in the bubble and offer as much help as possible with the coral. That someone happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, being hit by the pouring of water into the plaza. The crash soaked her, sent her tumbling, and she hit the side of her head on the fountain in the plaza. Just about, Selphie ran to make her way to the elevator.

So, when the elevator opens at the island, there's a soaked and crumbled Selphie sitting on the floor, a small trickle of blood making its way from her head down the side of her face. Enjoy!*

[Jade is returning to the elevator to get more people up when he sees Selphie on the elevator. He's pretty sure that whole bleeding thing is pretty bad, so he's jogging over to her, barely recalling her name from when their bodies had gotten swapped.]

[He's already moving to cautiously pick her up. Head wounds could be pretty tricky, but leaving her as she was was not an option.]

I'm going to carry you to the medical area, alright?

[He wasn't sure how aware she was, but he hoped enough that she recognized him as a source of help.]

[ Okay, Duke really ought to be on the island, but with the water flowing in he had to go and double check something.

This something being the library and the barrier he'd put around it and the waterproofing he'd put on the books. And as this is a library, he ends up spending a little bit too much time in there- well, the water wasn't past knee depth yet but..

He's discovered that one version of the spell isn't working and is busily re-applying the version that works. ]

[Jade was checking all the buildings he could get into, and the library was a concern, given Jade was sure someone would try to hide in there.

When he saw Duke, he wasn't surprised in the least. He sighed heavily and jogged towards the man.]

[Ever since his paranoia streak, after having had overhead the nurses or scientists or nurses scientists, Washu took Denzel up to the island and tied the man to a tree and left him there. After a few hours or so, the man did calm down and fall asleep. Only to wake to see the aura borealis in the sea] Noooo! My FAIRY TRACKER!

[Crocker can live and rebuild anything else he has but anything anything but losing his Fairy Tracker and Washu hadn't given the man to grab it in his state of paranoia.

Alex the Red Chocobo was lying on the sand asleep near Denzel till the man starts to scream, and speaking of which where was Washu?

Continuing to kick his feet as much as the man could and even starts to chuckle insanely. Constraint was never good for the man, considering the time spent in straightjackets in his world.]

[Even as the bubble was cracking and the water was pouring in, Washu was in her little makeshift lab, packing away tools and other items she may need into her bag.

The petite red-head paused, her fingers brushing over the screen as she turned to glance towards her window before looking down at her device.]

If there is anything anyone needs me to grab before I head back to the island, now is the time to speak up.

[Not long after she makes her little announcement, Washu can be seen calmly walking towards the plaza to take one last look at the coral as the water rushes in. It doesn't seem to bother her. In fact.. there seems to be a little bit of a force field bubble around her already.]

[And while loads of people are apparently ferreting the last things out of the bubbles, worrying or stressing there is one dude who's just chilling on the sand, stretched out and looking quite relaxed. Two chocobos are nesting nearby, and a rather fat goose has found itself a comfortable spot sleeping on Gamzee's stomach.

[By some ~miracle~, Marceline has managed to find a nice big floppy enough hat for herself, and feels a bit more at easy in wandering around in the sunlight. She's floating along when she sees a certain laid back demon clown! Aw yeah.]

[Sola knows Johnny told him to stay put, that he'd been told to watch over their friends who'd already made their way to the island, and with all the important belongings that he'd been tasked by Zelda to help ferry back up to the island already there, he really should have just listened.

...but...

Well, there were several teams of people still down in the bubble as it began to leak, including Johnny, and even if they were doing a last sweep of the city to make sure no one was left behind, someone had to make sure they all made it back to the surface too. And who better equipped, really. Well, maybe the sea-dwelling trolls. But he's a close second what with a tunic that allows for underwater breathing and his unique shadowy make-up allowing him to meld in and out of water (don't ask him how that works, it just does.), not to mention an extremely cohesive knowledge of all the nooks and crannies of Vatheon just from exploring the city so much.

Johnny was wrong. He could help. And with all their homes and possibly lives threatened by this disaster, he has an obligation as a hero.

At least that's what he tells himself he's going to say if he runs into Johnny while he's searching for stragglers and rescue teams. What he'll actually be able to say has yet to be seen.]

[As far as he knew, that was everyone. He was still flying around just to see if he could help anyone he didn't know to get up to the island, when he noticed someone who definitely was not supposed to be down here.

The skreeing of the bats and their wing beats were the only warning Sola would get before the vampire himself formed in front of him, hands on his hips and his expression distinctly less than pleased.]

What are you doing down here? I told you to stay on the island, it's too dangerous to stay in the city. Or did you just not notice the waterfall coming from the side of the bubble?

[He didn't normally talk like this to someone he cared about (except Ky) but he was worried and scared and, yes, a little mad Sola had gone against his wishes and it all poured into his tone and body language.]

[The situation is grim. Honey knows that much for certain. Cracks can become bigger and the barrier holding the water out could shatter in its entirety at any moment. Special tunics aside, anyone caught in the torrent could die.

That's why, for the first time in Vatheon, Honey had used her elemental transformation device to become Hurricane Honey.

She's speeding through the streets of Vatheon's higher district on her motorcycle, black hair whipping behind her. Much as she looks like a daredevil right now, jumping gaps and narrowly avoiding great puddles of water, she's searching for stragglers. If there's anyone still down here, she's hoping to give them a ride to the elevator.]
