All bubbles pop eventually

Yesterday was a day of celebration. For once, it seemed that the foreigners were able to affect the coral, and in a positive way at that. The coral lit back up, the barrier strengthened, and everything looked like it was back to normal again.

Unfortunately, it doesn't last.

Overnight the coral begins to dim again, flickering wildly along with the bubble itself. Those who stayed up on the island might notice the strange lights coming up through the waves if they're awake. The ones who stayed in the bubble will notice more than that. The atmosphere is tense, and every now and then there's an echoing crack, like a massive piece of glass is slowly losing its integrity.

By the time the morning arrives, the crack in the bubble is evident. After hours of threatening it, the crack finally falls open with a thundering snap, allowing the ocean to rush in. It hasn't yet given up entirely, but there's a steady stream of water pouring in to the plaza and on to the coral. The waterfall would be a pretty sight if not for the situation.

Hopefully no one stayed down there that long.

[There's not much Kurloz has needed to keep track of, in evacuating the bubble. He hasn't had the time to accumulate anything like jujus or anything important to him, and there are very few people he actually gives a fuck about living for a little while longer.

Which is why he's all the more likely to notice when one of the very few he does pay attention to is no longer anywhere he can find. He checks everywhere he can on the island, first- there's no point being an alarmist, because Mituna might just have wanted some time to himself- but when it becomes obvious that his moirail isn't above water level, he heads toward the elevator, intent on searching every last corner of the bubble, if he has to.

He didn't expect the cracks when he got down, but rather than waste time fighting with his miracle modus, he sets off in search of the yellowblood.

It's times like this that talking might be useful, but it doesn't matter. He has his chucklevoodoos, and he can follow the taste of fear, if he needs to. So he does.]

[Mituna almost barrels right into him, spotting his hair and horns from a distance and hurrying towards his moirail. He shrinks against the taller troll and looks up at the dome above them, pointing with one finger.]

Are you theeing thith thhit?!

[He nods, and steadies Mituna with a hand on his shoulder, giving his moirail a nearly chastising look as he does. What's the point of coming down here if it has him so worried?

But questions like that will be easier to answer when they aren't in the middle of a bubble that's splitting open down the middle. So he grabs Mituna (not hard enough to make him let go of his skateboard, at least) and starts on his way back toward the elevator.]

[He lets out an alarmed little screech when he's grabbed, but he trots along with Kurloz, wanting out of here as soon as possible and relieved beyond measure that the other troll came for him.]

... Thorry. [He mutters it eventually, as they near the elevator, as if it's only just occurred to him that he might have worried the purpleblood.]

[It says something about Kurloz's priorities that he barely even slows at the sound of the screech. Or maybe it says more about his expectations for Mituna's mental state.

Mituna's apology doesn't lessen Kurloz's expression, but he does, at least, pat Mituna's arm gently.]

[It's usually best to keep going, his panicked tantrums wear themselves out quickly enough and he's not likely to keep that kind of thing up when it's Kurloz steering him along.

The pat is reassuring, and he looks up for a moment before continuing to trot alongside him. At least his buddy isn't mad at him for running off.]

[Not mad, just disappointed and maybe a little worried. It's been a while since he hasn't been able to keep track of his moirail, especially since Mituna got here at the same time as him.

It's a good thing they're moving along so quickly, because it doesn't take much time at all to finally get to the elevator. Kurloz glances back toward Mituna- does he have everything he wants from the bubble?]

[Oh no not disappointment, disappointment is worse and he'd rather Kurloz be angry. It's just as well it doesn't occur to him.

When the other troll looks at him, he blinks a little blankly, then taps his board. This what what he came for, and he's got it! How was he supposed to now the bubble would make that horrid noise.

He curls his fingers around Kurloz's arm and gives a light tug. They can go.]

[He nods again and steps into the elevator. It doesn't matter that the bubble was making weird noises, now that they're leaving it, and he pats Mituna's shoulder to remind him of that.]

[helmetdoesnothing]

[The pat gets a toothy grin in response, and he bounces slightly on his heels, peering out of the elevator as the doors slide closed. It's only then that he looks up at Kurloz with something of a puzzled frown, tucking his board under his arm to free his hands for some slow signing.]

What was that?

[Kurloz pauses for a moment, then signs back.]

Some bros got their experiment on with the coral and fucked up.

[He watches Kurloz's hands intently as he signs, missing some words but getting enough. Sometimes the purpleblood's fingers move too fast for him to keep up, and sometimes it comes through in the replies he gives, but he's got it this time.]

So what now?

[He's so used to signing with Meulin, rapid-fire, that it can be difficult to remember to slow down. But he's been teaching Gamzee, recently, which might just help.]

Now we stick around up top.

[He really doesn't know what else they're doing beyond that More's the pity.]

[He gives Kurloz a worried look from behind his visor. Since Latula disappeared, he's stuck more to his moirail than he did before, but even with that familiarity abrupt change is never going to be a good thing for him.]

[Kurloz is kind of expecting that, but he doesn't mind at all. Being latched onto by his moirail is perfectly fine by him. He'll even put an arm around Mituna to reassure him.]
