All bubbles pop eventually

Yesterday was a day of celebration. For once, it seemed that the foreigners were able to affect the coral, and in a positive way at that. The coral lit back up, the barrier strengthened, and everything looked like it was back to normal again.

Unfortunately, it doesn't last.

Overnight the coral begins to dim again, flickering wildly along with the bubble itself. Those who stayed up on the island might notice the strange lights coming up through the waves if they're awake. The ones who stayed in the bubble will notice more than that. The atmosphere is tense, and every now and then there's an echoing crack, like a massive piece of glass is slowly losing its integrity.

By the time the morning arrives, the crack in the bubble is evident. After hours of threatening it, the crack finally falls open with a thundering snap, allowing the ocean to rush in. It hasn't yet given up entirely, but there's a steady stream of water pouring in to the plaza and on to the coral. The waterfall would be a pretty sight if not for the situation.

Hopefully no one stayed down there that long.

[The swarm of bats has been all over and the vampire it forms is tired, but he's all business as he arrives at Ky's side.

[Ky doesn't look contrite at all, just painstakingly earnest.]

I'm working on it, and so do you.

I just need to make sure everyone's evacuated first.

[He looks up at the top of the bubble and gestures to it.]

For now, I'm grounded, so what can I do to get you out of here faster?

[Because, while he's helping others, his main concern is his family.]

You can help me do a final search of down here to insure that everyone else is evacuated.

[He would have rather heard a 'nothing, I'm going right now' but that just wouldn't be Ky, would it? No, he had to check on things himself first.

So Johnny just nodded and didn't argue.]

The water's making it a little more difficult, but I can try and find any lingering scent in the area that isn't just residual.

As for making things faster, how do you feel about flying?

[Ky isn't even doing that with Dizzy, and he very much wants to keep her safe.

He just wants to keep everyone safe.]

If it's faster, I'm fine with it.

[He just nods before his form begins to dissolve into the swarm of bats it had been before. The swarm surrounded Ky and easily lifted him from the ground; as precarious as it might seem, he was just as secure in that swarm as he would be of the vampire's arms were around him.

After a moment, some of the bats came together and Johnny's disembodied head and shoulders appeared near Ky's own.]
