All bubbles pop eventually

Yesterday was a day of celebration. For once, it seemed that the foreigners were able to affect the coral, and in a positive way at that. The coral lit back up, the barrier strengthened, and everything looked like it was back to normal again.

Unfortunately, it doesn't last.

Overnight the coral begins to dim again, flickering wildly along with the bubble itself. Those who stayed up on the island might notice the strange lights coming up through the waves if they're awake. The ones who stayed in the bubble will notice more than that. The atmosphere is tense, and every now and then there's an echoing crack, like a massive piece of glass is slowly losing its integrity.

By the time the morning arrives, the crack in the bubble is evident. After hours of threatening it, the crack finally falls open with a thundering snap, allowing the ocean to rush in. It hasn't yet given up entirely, but there's a steady stream of water pouring in to the plaza and on to the coral. The waterfall would be a pretty sight if not for the situation.

Hopefully no one stayed down there that long.

[Fai doesn't want to accept this. He moves forward and lays his forehead on Johnny's chest.]

What am I going to tell them about leaving you behind?

[Johnny kissed the top of Fai's head and continued to run his fingers through the vampire's hair.]

Just tell them not to worry, I'll be hope in a few hours. Hmmm...if you have to, tell them I pushed you onto the elevator~

[He wished he didn't have to have this conversation either. He loved this place and hated the island, but he would be on that elevator right along with Fai if he could.]

If he does, I'll deal with him.

[Fai sighs and it's obvious he knows he has to accept this, for as stubborn as he is..Johnny is worse and there really is nothing Fai can do to force the other vampire to go to the surface.]

Just..make sure you come quickly. And if it looks like things will get worse, leave immediately. Otherwise I'll be the one coming back down here to drag you out of here.

[Johnny gave a small, sad, smile and wrapped his arms around the lithe man, careful of the cat between them.]

I'll be up before the sun even fully sets; as soon as it's dark enough, I'll join you.

Take care of the others and, please, take care of yourself.

You don't have to worry about me. I've survived far worse then a flooding bubble. But if that sun sets and you aren't up there..I may never forgive you.

[He'll have one angry blond on his hands.]

[Johnny pulled away, a gentle smile on his face.

He bowed low as though pledging to the royalty he served.]

I understand. I swear to you, I will be there.

[When he straightened his expression was a little more serious. He stepped closer again just to kiss the top of the cat's head.]

Take care of him, Minea.

[And then to Fai:]Now, please, make your way to the elevator; as soon as you're safe, I'll breathe easier.

[Fai nods and gives his friend one last look before turning to head in that direction. He takes a few steps and pauses, hesitating because he really doesn't want to go but he knows if he looks back he might not leave at all. So after that brief moment he takes off running to the elevator, holding Minea tightly to him.]
