While the villains are away...

Seems like crime has taken a step up from just purse-snatching or someone stealing forty cakes when no one was looking. Those with a great sense of hearing or who happen to be at the wrong place at the right time will find that the good people of Vatheon are in danger. It's up to anyone who is willing to help to work together to save the day!




-Carol-

[In the lower district there were these warehouses lining along the barrier’s wall. One of them had a large neon sign with the words “Villains are here” flashing in lights. Anyone investigating the outside of the building will hear someone yelling for help.

Even if it’s obviously a trap, a hero must do their duty. And maybe clues about the real location of the nest of villains could be found.

The warehouse has been converted to a giant fun house with Indiana Jone’s Raiders of the Last Ark type traps. Getting help with navigating through this maze of traps and nurse themed goons would definitely be a good idea.

At the end of the maze, should people succeed, they will find Carol.]





-Hostage Hotel-

[A message will flash across the Starfish communicator asking for help.]

Help. At the Hotel they have guns

[Any messages sent in response will not be answered.

Seems that the city’s hotel has been taken over. The police are making a barrier and trying to negotiate, without any luck, with the crooks. They have the hotel owners and a their guests hostage on the top floor. They are armed, and very dangerous. Their demands include an escape route and a suitcase full of money.

Are you there to save the day or just get the scoop? Work together with the police or other heroes to save the day.]




-Like a bandit-

[There seems to be a burglar committing a string of crimes. They stole a rather large diamond from the jewelry store, money from the casino, and snatched a vase from an auction house. Thy only thing was a picture or a riddle for the scene of the next crime. The police are refusing to release the previous clues, but a reporter has managed to get a picture of the new message.]

What has branches and leaves and no bark?




-Anonymous Voice-

[A voice can be heard over everyone's communicator in the morning.]

There are twenty bombs hidden all over the city’s park. They will go off in a half hour. Find them before someone gets hurt.

[The caller might be using a synthesizer to disguise their voice, but locating them shouldn’t be a priority yet. Get those bombs out of the park before time runs out. Super speed or getting help would be beneficial for the ducks. Think of the ducks please.]



[They may also wind up stumbling or following a goon back to the actual secret base to listen in on a meeting at their own risk. Good luck!

[There is a catchy song playing over the loud speakers inside of the warehouse. If one listens close enough they may hear Carol struggling to get out of the rope or her asking if anyone is out there. No telling what will happen to her if the heroes take too long!

Goons can be found scattered through out the maze and guarding doors. Maybe they were lost too or they were put there to delay any brave rescuer or nosy passerby-er from reaching their captive.]

[How'll some rats do for scoping out the place and finding out what's all going on? And along with it, if Carol can see, there's a rat moving up infront of her, gets on it's hind legs and makes a 'shh' gesture with a claw infront of it's face. Very unratlike, but it's a start, eh?]

[Otherwise there's a good amount of rats, spiders, mice, and various city birds taking a look around, easy to come upon and are acting strange to anyone enough sense and perception to notice.]

[Of course Big Shot notices the strange animal behavior. It's far too familiar to him.]

[The walking tank of a mech suit stops just inside the building, reaching up with surprising delicacy towards a fairly odd spider that was way too far away from its nest. Be his guide, little guy?]

[Carol doesn't make a particularly good damsel in distress. She looks more irritated than afraid. Very irritated, in fact. Before the rat makes it clear that it's being controlled by someone she tries to knock something over on it. Like hell she's going to have vermin crawling all over her! Thankfully she sees it lift a finger in a "shh" gesture before she manages.

Animal super powers, huh?

Oh fine, little rat, get over here and get chewing. Don't miss the ropes or she'll smash your ass.]

[Despite the calls for help from inside the warehouses, there's one person who's lingering outside and not charging in at the drop of a hat. Maybe it's got to do with the fact that he isn't dressed in spandex, or anything even remotely like a costume. He definitely isn't wearing a mask, not even the shades any non-affected Vatheonites might remember him seeing.

Nevertheless, he isn't calling anyone else for help. He's just standing by the warehouses, hands in pockets, and staring.]

You've got to be fucking kidding me.

[Leo is up on top of a roof across the street from the warehouse. He's in his Bronze Flame getup, a wicked looking hammer slung over his shoulder. It goes without saying it's a trap, so he's not gonna go rushing in. He spots Dirk standing outside the warehouse.

He contacts him with a text on their communicators.]

What sort of joker thinks anyone is gonna fall for this?

[Yeah no, screw this trap nonsense. Nanaki is going to take a shortcut or ten and jump through various reflective surfaces to get to the end of this 'fun house'.

Of course, she can only get close to the final door this way, because she has to be able to see where she'll end up (or know the area well enough) in order to travel via reflections. And that door sure does look stuck tight!]

...Well then.

[Looks like it's time to get help from some other superheroes!]

-Hostage Hotel-

[The couple with their flair for fish themed decor were taken hostage along with any of their guests. The wife has managed to shoot out a message to the network for help. There is no guarantee that the hostages will be safe if the police give the criminals their freedom. Hurry before things escalate.]

Police Line; Open

[Anyone on the force would recognize Vanitas as someone who in the past had issues with taking orders but eventually simmered down. Maybe he has something good going on in life or maybe he just found other outlets for his anger issues? There are plenty of rumors involving him, but cops stick together even if one might be playing it dirty.


He's dressed in his blue uniform, and keeping people away from the Hotel. There are rumors that he can be paid off to look the other way to let any reporters or would-be heroes through.

When he sees someone approaching, he will wave them away.]

No one past this point. Wouldn't want to have any accidental shootings. [He didn't make it clear which side would be doing the shooting.]

[There are plenty of crimes going on, but there are few that it's possible to view in action, rather than report on the results. For that reason, Pyunma has made his way to the barricade. His main purpose for being here, of course, is seeing how the situation is handled, for better or for worse, by the many forces of justice in the city.

He's good at keeping out of the way of the necessary functions of the police, of course, but anyone who isn't busy at the moment, he'll approach. His main target is any heroes that arrive, but a police officer will suffice.]

Excuse me. Do you have a moment?

OPEN: Inside the hotel

[Suddenly, an ear splitting scream bursts from somewhere inside the hotel, and most of the windows shatter into so many shards of glass. The sound of violence, and then- someone at the window, flipping the bird and cackling.]

Scream Queen on the scene, fuckers!

[That is definitely not the kind of wholesome family safe language most people want to hear. Whoops.]

[Despite the display, Marceline is helping out. As an itty bitty bat, she'd managed to sneak in past the crooks and shapeshifted into something bigger to catch them off guard by the hostages. She shoved the defenseless civs inside a room, and now all that's left is taking out the bad guys that are scattered throughout the hotel.]

[Can anyone solve this? Maybe it'll lead them to the crook, their next target, or another riddle?]

[Bloom sits to ponder of the clue. Since it's a riddle it couldn't be an actual tree. But if that wasn't the case then what on earth could it mean. riddles were not the easiest thing in the world, after all they are called riddles for a reason. So cue Bloom sitting on a bench, pondering a good amount of time into it.]

What has branches and leaves and no bark? [Leaning back slightly, she at least is trying to think of possible things.] If it's not a tree, then what could it be?

[Time is ticking for the ducks, the apple trees, and anyone who might not be aware there are bombs in the park. The police are trying to keep people out, but it's a large park. They can't look for bombs and keep the public out at the same time. Even if they won't admit it, they do need a lot of help. Team up to locate all the bombs before it's too late.

[Another bomb was disabled and set aside by the starfish-themed ranger. Hubert sighed and sat back, removing his helmet and wiping at his brow. The first few bombs had been easy to find, but the rest... he wasn't entirely sure he could disable them all on his own...

But he was going to try.

[ The police might need help, but they certainly didn't seem to want it from a frail looking kid in civilian clothes who looks like he could be defeated by a strong gust of wind, never mind a bomb. ]

No really! I can see a few... There's one under one of the benches by the pond. A few people have walked past it already. And then there's-

[ The officer he was bothering obviously thought it was ridiculous that he could 'see' something halfway across the park, and under something no less and told him to get home before he got hurt. A little defected he retreated across the street. He was about to give up though. He reached out with his mind, honing in on someone who seemed like they might be a little more willing to listen... ]

Hello? Can you hear me?

[ Hopefully they wouldn't be TOO freaked out by the voice in their head. ]

-40 Pies-

[Someone has stolen forty pies and that is just terrible. Stop that criminal!]

[Saix is covered in pie. He's not quite sure how that happened, although he's pretty sure it has something to do with the pie-thieving criminal he just threw a whole car at.]

[Yeah. A whole car. That he picked up and threw at a guy escaping down the street with a giant car full of pies.]

[But really, are you going to focus on the upturned car that might have crushed a dude, or the very bewildered looking super just standing there, covered in pie crust and cherries and red filling?]

[Fai certainly couldn't let anyone get away with all those pies! That is a travesty! Pies are meant to be shared and enjoyed by all! Plus this vampire with a sweet tooth had a craving for one. So there stands one hero in a cat like hero costume with a short cape facing off with the pie snatcher.]

It isn't nice to steal~ You should give those back..or at least share with everyone!

[Of course the bandit isn't listening so instead he takes off running. Fai pouts and then takes off after him. Unfortunately for the villain, Fai is pretty quick on his feet and is soon running next to him, much to the bad guy's surprise.]

I really don't want to resort to violence. Please turn yourself in.

[Not happening apparently as the bad guy makes a sharp turn and heads down the alley. Fai stops running with a sigh.]

No one ever listens.

[The cafe will give any one a free coffee or a glass of root beer after quite a long day of problems popping up. Kick back and meet up with other heroes or anyone wishing to help or secretly hamper. Make the most of this to get some connections because this may be the only time the police will look the other way from the masked vigilante hanging around in public.]

[It's a bit difficult to get anything to drink when you take up crimefighting while using a giant mechanized suit, but the superhero known as Big Shot seems to have found a way around it. Yes, he is sitting to the side of the cafe, relaxing after a hard day of supering. Yes, that is a tiny little hole in the front of his helmet's facemask that lets him slip in a straw. Yes, he is in fact drinking a glass of milk.]

[It's important to stay hydrated you know! Besides, milk is good for you.]

[Dirk doesn't seem to be looking for a heroic meeting, and he's certainly not hanging around in spandex. In fact, he just looks like a normal teenager wasting time. The fact that he's playing some game on his SFC between sips of his (pretentious hipster) coffee probably helps with that impression.

But someone paying attention might notice a little pin set down near his drink. It's not much to look at, just a few triangles. If you tilt your head just right, though, they might look like a pair of really cool sunglasses.]

[The Bronze Flame can be seen leaning against the wall, goggles covering his eyes and a large hammer resting on the ground next to him. He's sipping at a cup of coffee as his eyes sweep around the cafe. He tends to keep to himself regularly, but the crime levels have gotten ridiculous as of late, so any chances to get more details on what's going on is something he's not gonna pass up.

But he's no going to sit down either. Sitting makes it harder to slip away unnoticed in the case of an emergency.]

[Fai is rather tired after all the crime fighting, so of course he stops into the cafe for a drink and a tasty treat. Still dressed in his kitty hero costume (think catwoman/batman crossover complete with cat ears and a tiny cape), it's time for a little rest and relaxation.]

Ahh~ crime fighting is so much work.

[He settles down at a table with his piece of cake and a big glass of milk.]

[Rose isn't a hero. But here she is attempting to blend in with the crowd by sipping a latte and eating a scone. She looks as ostentatious as everyone else here dressed in the bright clothing. Her hood is up and this outfit is so different from what she wears when she's out with or on the orders of the Puppet Master.]
