While the villains are away...

Seems like crime has taken a step up from just purse-snatching or someone stealing forty cakes when no one was looking. Those with a great sense of hearing or who happen to be at the wrong place at the right time will find that the good people of Vatheon are in danger. It's up to anyone who is willing to help to work together to save the day!

-Carol-

[In the lower district there were these warehouses lining along the barrier’s wall. One of them had a large neon sign with the words “Villains are here” flashing in lights. Anyone investigating the outside of the building will hear someone yelling for help.

Even if it’s obviously a trap, a hero must do their duty. And maybe clues about the real location of the nest of villains could be found.

The warehouse has been converted to a giant fun house with Indiana Jone’s Raiders of the Last Ark type traps. Getting help with navigating through this maze of traps and nurse themed goons would definitely be a good idea.

At the end of the maze, should people succeed, they will find Carol.]

-Hostage Hotel-

[A message will flash across the Starfish communicator asking for help.]

Help. At the Hotel they have guns

[Any messages sent in response will not be answered.

Seems that the city’s hotel has been taken over. The police are making a barrier and trying to negotiate, without any luck, with the crooks. They have the hotel owners and a their guests hostage on the top floor. They are armed, and very dangerous. Their demands include an escape route and a suitcase full of money.

Are you there to save the day or just get the scoop? Work together with the police or other heroes to save the day.]

-Like a bandit-

[There seems to be a burglar committing a string of crimes. They stole a rather large diamond from the jewelry store, money from the casino, and snatched a vase from an auction house. Thy only thing was a picture or a riddle for the scene of the next crime. The police are refusing to release the previous clues, but a reporter has managed to get a picture of the new message.]

What has branches and leaves and no bark?

-Anonymous Voice-

[A voice can be heard over everyone's communicator in the morning.]

There are twenty bombs hidden all over the city’s park. They will go off in a half hour. Find them before someone gets hurt.

[The caller might be using a synthesizer to disguise their voice, but locating them shouldn’t be a priority yet. Get those bombs out of the park before time runs out. Super speed or getting help would be beneficial for the ducks. Think of the ducks please.]

[They may also wind up stumbling or following a goon back to the actual secret base to listen in on a meeting at their own risk. Good luck!

((If you are open to being threadjacked, then please put Open in your subject line. If you have an idea already and want to play it out with a particular group of people, then please put Closed in your subject. Thank you.

Have fun playing out the scenarios, and feel free to drop a note in the subject line if Carol or the hotel owners are needed or if you believe characters may have solved the riddle! The location of the bombs is random and characters are encouraged to locate and defuse them on their own.))

[Unpracticed at sneaking in to places as Dirk may be, he still has the good sense to keep a few steps behind Leo so as not to crowd him, and he stops with no danger of bumping into him.]

Something you need to disable?
fundemetal: (91)

[personal profile] fundemetal 2013-07-18 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe. Not sure yet if it can be disabled or if we're just gonna have to duck under it.

[Leo egins to look around the rest of the space in front of him to make sure there's not any other lines. There's only that one on the step in front of him, but he can see faint lines of those positioned over a couple more of the steps.]

Looks like we're gonna be playing limbo on the stairs.

That ain't so bad. It could be twister.

[The only part of beign a hero Dirk has got down is the one-liners/]

Let's not rule out that possibility.

[He begins making his way down, ducking under the strings while looking for the next one. Eventually he makes it all the way down and turns to look back up at Dirk.]

I'll believe it when I see it.

[Dirk doesn't ask for help, but ducks his way under each one. He doesn't have to stop and look as often as Leo did, since he got the chance before to see where they were when Leo made his way down.]

There's plenty of warehouse left to explore.

[While waiting for Dirk to join him, Leo begins looking around from where he's standing. There could be traps anywhere and he doesn't want to trigger any others inadvertently. The only path that looks to lead into the main area of the warehouse is wide open and unguarded. Which means there's a trap waiting for them.

He bends down and picks up the bronze sphere and lifts the rubber coating at the seam. He turns a small protruding gear before rolling it in the direction of the path. As it picks up speed it begins to separate, little mechanical spiders crawling out of it and investigating the path for him.

I'm so glad they anticipated my secret desire to become Laura Croft, Tomb Raider. [Dirk watches the spiders as they crawl all over the various parts of the wall, and apparently don't trigger any traps.]

Some probably rely on a certain weight pressing down to activate them.

[personal profile] fundemetal 2013-07-28 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Indiana Jones and Laura Croft would make a pretty awesome team.

[He laughs.]

They're not meant to trigger the traps, just let me know if they detect any and where they are. Better to avoid triggering them if possible.

Next time we do this, I'll wear the shorts. Except I'm more like Alfred than her.

[Sadly he doesn't have the awesome accent, but he can't be perfect.]

Depends on if we can avoid them or not. What've they got for you, in any case?
fundemetal: (91)

[personal profile] fundemetal 2013-07-29 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure you could pull off her look, dude. Those shorts are really short.

[The spiders are done doing their work. stationed at the various trigger points.]

They look avoidable if we just step around where the spiders are stationed, but the last trap we have no choice but to trigger. We'll have to do that at the same time or we'll both be on our own.

[Dirk nods, and looks over the various spiders.]

Three, two, one, go?
fundemetal: (90)

[personal profile] fundemetal 2013-08-07 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Go.

[He nods and leads the way through the metal spiders and stops for a moment until he's sure they can time this right.

The last trap triggers and a wall comes down behind him.

[personal profile] shippingmath 2013-08-08 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dirk glances at the wall, then Leo, and raises an eyebrow.]

Welp, we should have made a save point before going in.

[Dork alert.]
fundemetal: (91)

[personal profile] fundemetal 2013-08-08 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Leo laughs.]

If only save points actually existed.

[He takes a moment to look around their surroundings. There's not a whole lot to look at, just a bunch of shelving units lining the walls along a corridor.]
shippingmath: (pic#5529136)

[personal profile] shippingmath 2013-08-09 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dirk does two scans of the shelves- first for anything that looks dangerous, then for anything that looks useful.]

If only making one didn't create time loops. Whatever, I guess we're just going all the way with this shit.
fundemetal: (90)

[personal profile] fundemetal 2013-08-12 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[The girl calling for help sounds closer now, but that could just be the echo of the corridor.]

Doesn't look like we've got any other choice. Let's go.

[He starts walking down the hall, carefully scanning the area for any signs of danger.]

[And once again, Dirk is following behind in Leo's footsteps, though he keeps just as much attention on their surroundings as Leo does.

It's why he halts in place eventually, staring at one particular spot on the wall.]

Hold up.
fundemetal: (90)

[personal profile] fundemetal 2013-08-15 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Leo stops when Dirk tells him to. It's rare that he misses something so easily, but that's what having a sidekick is for. An extra set of everything.]

What's up?
