If anyone actually wanders up there, they will find the whole village decorated with strings of light, fish shaped lanterns, streamers, and kelp. Just past the North edge of the Village was a fair.

There was a large stage in the center of the fair, rides, a fortune teller, contests, games, a petting zoo, a fish exhibit, stalls, booths and everything else you can find at a fair.

That would probably be awkward. [He can't imagine casually going up to any of his friends all like "Sup, bro/girl? Let's get our cuddle on."]

I can't say I expected you to.

[Coming from a normal person that sentence might be a sign of some sort of acceptance... but this is Yukio. It's just fact, and one your little brother still very much disapproves of.]

We'll both get a slice! Come on, let's go over there and get some.

[ She grabs his hand (without thinking, admittedly), and starts to tug him over to the stand selling pizza. ]

[Rin knew that wasn't the end of it.

It could have been. He could have easily taken his brother's words at face value, let it drop, changed the subject, or even wandered off with an excuse about work. He could have left it there, but he knew Yukio and he knew that his words weren't any sort of acceptance or end to the conversation.

So he opened his big mouth, and said probably the worst thing he could have ever said:]

Tch. What're you gonna do? Disown me?

[Oop, dragged. N isn't about to protest this, though, and he follows her quietly, hoping she'll order because he has no idea what he's asking for.]

[Yukio's just finished a game at the nearby archery booth when he hears a very familiar voice. He hasn't really reached out to anyone else from his world on the network yet, so he'd wondered if he would run into any of his students here...

Oh. It's Shiemi.

Okay, dude, man up. Heading over to stand nearby, his water bottle in one hand and one of those large starfish pillows in the other.]

You should try to throw it more gently, Shiemi-san.

[ She does order for both of them, and they receive their pizza slices pretty quickly. She hands N's slice to him and watches him to see what sort of reaction he gives out. ]

It reminded her a little of when she had seen Signless moving about the plaza lighting candles. She wasn't confident enough in her ability to swim to take a boat, but she did leave her shoes out of reach of the tide and moved into the water, the waves washing up around her ankles and drawing the sand out from under her feet.

She held the lantern in both hands, feeling the gentle tug of it as the sea breeze whipped around her, and she tried to think of the things she would like to change, what she'd like to let go as she released the lantern. It wasn't anything that anyone had told her to do, but it seemed to make some kind of sense.

Looking down, she hummed softly and shook her head, then pushed the lantern up into the air, letting it leave her hands. Her eyes followed it until it was only a speck of shining light amongst many others, then she turned away and moved back up the beach, stooping to pick up her shoes.

[He still seems rather dubious over the whole thing, but he eventually tries a bite, eating slowly before making a decision.]

... it's not bad. Still greasy, but I don't mind it so much.

[Yukio's eyes narrow at that question. Disown him? After everything they've been through, everything Yukio's tried to protect him from...

He shifts in his seat to face Rin, anger obvious in his expression now.]

Are you really that much of an idiot?

[ She smiles and leads them over to a table. ]

I figured it may be easier on you than a lot of the food here. They deep-fry everything to oblivion at festivals and carnivals ...

[Rin is keeping up his avoidance of looking at Yukio, refusing to let him see just how hurt he was over the whole thing. He wore his emotions on his sleeve no matter how hard he tried not to, but this was one time he wanted so badly to be able to keep that poker face his brother was capable of doing.

The angered note on Yukio's voice made Rin tense visibly, though, and his voice cracked with an attempt to force a dryly humored tone. It failed. Miserably.]

If you gotta ask, you're a bigger idiot than I am. D'you even hear what you sound like right now? Che... you couldn't be any more done with my shit.

Is there a reason for that? It seems terribly unhealthy.

[He follows her like a puppy to the table and sits down, taking another bite of the pizza.]

What're you talkin' about? Loosin' up, man. It could totally be fun.

[He laughs then swats at him again.]

Yes, I did find that. I'll need to acquire new weapons, though. I didn't have mine on me when I was brought here.

[His expression goes from sheepish to awkward for a split second before he schools his face back into something more neutral.]

... I suppose she might. I haven't tried to contact her yet.

I don't know. It just seems customary at these sorts of events. They sell similar food at the amusement park in Nimbasa, too ... though considering Ms. Elesa is a bigger influence there than anywhere, there's also way more alternatives for the people who really don't want to eat greasy carnival food. A lot of people enjoy it, though. I guess it's kind of a rare treat for them. I can't imagine living off of things like this at all.

[ She takes a bite of her own pizza. ]

I wouldn't want to. It would make me sick to have this more than once, I think...

[But reminding him of Nimbasa City urges him to bring up something]

... there's a Ferris wheel here.

"I like it. It's quiet, large, and well-decorated."

There's a nod as Saber begins to chew on the thing on her stick. It tastes fishy, so it must be. She's just not sure exactly what it is.

[ Yes, she knew of the Ferris Wheel. She smiles at N happily. ]

Do you want to go on the Ferris Wheel?

"I meant the sea in general, however.. since you said you don't like this one in particular, it sounds as if you do like the one where you are from."

Saber raises a gauntlet to her chin momentarily.

"I have always disliked the sea, as during my time it only brought enemies. I have come to slightly appreciate it with time and influence from a few others, though."

[doctor_dragoon]

[That poker face was hard-earned, man, and it's really not worth it in the long run. Does nothing but cause problems.

Oh, Yukio's definitely done. He is done with all the shit, but shockingly enough? Rin's shit is not on the top of the list. Between Gehenna Gates and demon contracts and tweaking eyeballs, Yukio's plate is pretty full. Shame Rin's going to bear the brunt of it, but four-eyes doesn't have anyone else he can unload on.]

Why do you have to make everything so difficult?

Wager your pistols were prolly waterlogged. M'sure there's somewhere you can restock over at Nostalgia Nook. We could go sometime if you'd fancy the trip.

[ Have a shrug though before he folds his arms behind his back. ]

You lot have bunched up in the Villa so... m'glad you're with people you know at least. M'sure you'll have no problem finding her.
