It's an Age-Old Tale...

[Welcome to the curse, Vatheonites. Welcome to the fairy tale.

And with the tale, the world has changed. Nothing remains of the city that once was; now there are fantastical and crazy things, things that would be only found in books--and yet here they are.

There are a few places of note, however. A few places that might draw the intrepid adventurer, the curious.

To begin--

The Forest-- here can be found...well, trees. But other than trees, there are fairies, and curious shadows and eyes and things hiding where you do not want things to hide. Overall, it's not very safe anymore! Wolves might be on the prowl, mystical creatures that think that you sure do look a lot like lunch. And hidden deep within the forest in a system of sprawling caves lurks a dragon. Sitting on a pile of golden treasure.

The princess can be found there. Sure hope the dragon isn't sitting on her, whoops.

The Pirate Ship-- this one is much more straightforward. Namely, that there are pirates and they're out for your blood. But the ship itself is winding and filled with (empty) treasure chests and nasty sea critters that are, surprise surprise, also out for your blood. You might have to fight a pirate chief to save the princess in this labyrinth.

The Briar Patch/Towers-- where the carnival once stood there are now a couple of ominous towers, empty or filled with scuttling, skittery creatures or perhaps an unlucky slumbering foreigner. There are nasty thorns growing all over, but maybe if you're careful you can break through and find the one tower that houses the witch. Be careful--she has spells to throw at you. But she's also guarding another princess, so maybe it's worth the fight and...the flying monkeys.

The meadow-- deep in the lower district there is now a large meadow. Looks harmless, right? Only if you venture too far in, you will come across what look to be...monsters? Monsters of all shapes and sizes, vicious and ready to kill...except they're just illusions. The illusions get more and more real the closer you get to the center of the meadow, however. Some of them might even be able to actually bite, so be careful. Deep in the meadow there is a unicorn who is holding a poor princess captive. Can anyone rescue them?

Anyone is welcome to make a thread--princesses or princes or average Vatheonite pixie! Threadjack, have fun, be creative! Just remember that only the princesses' ~one true love~ will succeed...but everyone is welcome to give it a shot.]

TO THE RESCUE

[If there were something that Shizuo could choose to never go through again, it would be a briar patch. Sure, he doesn't feel the pokes and scratches from the thorns, but getting snagged is really annoying, and slows down progress immensely. His ax isn't as helpful as he thought it would be.

And progress to what? A princess? Shizuo is getting tired of wading through the mess, so when he finally makes it to a tower, he forces finds his way inside and makes the painstaking climb to the top, occasionally spotting skittering creatures that he hopes are just that, and not further threat.

When he finally makes it to the top, he finds someone who looks a little like Ion, but even more feminine with all of that hair, and someone sleeping. Shizuo pauses and stares at the scene for a moment, before finally speaking.]

Uh...hey...

[fonmaster]

[Ion wibbles pathetically up at Shizuo, clinging to his shirt.]

Shizuo! Your name was Shizuo, right? Sleeping Beauty won't wake up!

[It's been awhile, okay? Ion's fallen into his role now.]

[Shizuo tenses a little at the contact, but tries to be reassuring by offering an awkward pat.]

Yeah, that's my name. Watch out or my ax'll get you.

[He lowers it carefully.]

And you're Ion, right? Your hair is really long. Who's sleeping beauty? That guy?

[fonmaster]

That's right, I'm Ion. Except I think I'm Rapunzel, now...

[He nods eagerly in response.]

Guy is Sleeping Beauty. I don't remember that story too well, but we have to wake him up!

Rapunzel?

[Okay, whatever, Shizuo's just going to roll with it. His own role is a bit more subtle. Hunting, acquiring wolf pelts - that kind of thing. This whole rescue princesses bit hasn't really worked out in his favor. Then again, neither has hunting...]

Okay. Let's wake him up then. Have you tried shaking him?

[That's probably obvious, but who knows at this point?]

Sorry, had to run to the shower~

[Ion nods.]

Nothing works. I've been up here with him for days, I tried everything...

[Not kissing. Ion wouldn't EVER think of that.]

Everything?

[Shizuo sets his ax against the wall, then he walks over to 'sleeping beauty' and looks at him.]

Is he one of the princesses? Maybe he needs a prince.

[How did that story go...]

[Guy lays in repose with light filtering down on him dramatically.]

I don't think he's one of the princesses. He doesn't have a tiara, after all. But I suppose he could be the princess who has forgotten their identity...?

[Shizuo scratches his head.]

I really don't know. Maybe he can tell us when he wakes up.

[Shizuo pokes his face. It's better than just staring!]

Have you tried hitting him?

[Ion said he tried everything, but Ion didn't seem like the kind of person to smack someone who's helpless.]

[fonmaster]

H-hit him?!

[Okay, so Ion didn't try that!]

No, but I poured cold water on him? Isn't that good enough?

I guess.

[Shizuo shrugs.]

I don't really know how these things work. But I won't hit him, because I'd probably end up breaking him, and that wouldn't wake him up.

[So now what. Shizuo tries to think.]

I always thought that sleeping beauty needed a prince to wake her...or him up. Something about a -

[Oh. That.]

[fonmaster]

A-a what?

[Ion must know. This is is friend they're talking about, here!]

A kiss.

[Have a poker face while Shizuo tries very hard not to be awkward about this.]

I think you have to kiss him.

[Because Shizuo doesn't exactly want to volunteer for that.]

[fonmaster]

[Ion blushes bright red.]

What? Me?! But I've never kissed anyone before! And I'm not a hero or a prince!

[Have an accusatory finger whipping in your direction, Shizuo.]

You're a hero!

[a_violent_end]

I'm not a hero! I'm a huntsman! And even when I'm not a huntsman I'm just...not a hero!

[Shizuo hasn't really kissed anyone before either, but he'd prefer not to admit that out loud because he's embarrassingly old for such a confession. It's really because he's too damn strong and scary.]

I don't save people!

[Actually, he hurts them. Big difference.]

[fonmaster]

[Ion looks up at Shizuo with the biggest puppy eyes a boy could ever hope to make, then turns to Guy.]

Is that really how the story goes...?

[Now Shizuo is feeling guilty. He calms down a little, and sighs.]

I think. I don't know. Look, if it's really important to you...

[He came here with the purposes of rescuing someone, anyway.]

[fonmaster]

[Ion's leaning forward over Guy with his fists and eyes both closed tightly and... there. A kiss right on the forehead.]

Oh... he didn't wake up.

[Shizuo is very relieved to see Ion leaning over to kiss Guy so that he doesn't have to...but unfortunately the awkward quality of the moment isn't gone yet.]

Um. You should. Try the lips.

[Shizuo looks away.]

[fonmaster]

The lips?!

[Oh Guy, you're lucky Ion will go so far for his friends... He died for Tear, so why is kissing someone so much harder?! He leans over and kisses Guy quickly with a little squeak. Still nothing. Ion whines loudly.]

It didn't work!

Oh.

[Well. Then. Shizuo really has no idea.]

Sorry.

[He tries to think about any other things they can try.]

I can...carry him out of here for you. Since we can't wake him up.

We can wait for Sola if you don't want Shizuo's first kiss to get ganked~

[Ion's scowling darkly.]

It didn't work since I'm in distress, too! You do it!

I don't mind!

[Shizuo looks from Ion to Guy. He isn't sure if Ion is making sense or if he's just buying too deeply into the curse, but he gives in. He leans over Guy and places a very careful, chaste kiss on his lips, then steps back.]

There.

[He tries not to look as flustered as he feels.]

[fonmaster]

[And... still nothing. Ion's shoulders sag with defeat as he heads over to the window, lowering his long, long hair out.]

Sorry... here, you take Guy out of here like this. It'll be easier to climb down carrying someone if you use my hair.

Maybe he really does need a prince.

[Or maybe his curse is that he's forced to stay asleep. Either way, he's stuck. Shizuo hasn't come across any princes.

At the suggestion, Shizuo shakes his head.]

I'm not going to climb down your hair. What about you?
