It's an Age-Old Tale...

[Welcome to the curse, Vatheonites. Welcome to the fairy tale.

And with the tale, the world has changed. Nothing remains of the city that once was; now there are fantastical and crazy things, things that would be only found in books--and yet here they are.

There are a few places of note, however. A few places that might draw the intrepid adventurer, the curious.

To begin--

The Forest-- here can be found...well, trees. But other than trees, there are fairies, and curious shadows and eyes and things hiding where you do not want things to hide. Overall, it's not very safe anymore! Wolves might be on the prowl, mystical creatures that think that you sure do look a lot like lunch. And hidden deep within the forest in a system of sprawling caves lurks a dragon. Sitting on a pile of golden treasure.

The princess can be found there. Sure hope the dragon isn't sitting on her, whoops.

The Pirate Ship-- this one is much more straightforward. Namely, that there are pirates and they're out for your blood. But the ship itself is winding and filled with (empty) treasure chests and nasty sea critters that are, surprise surprise, also out for your blood. You might have to fight a pirate chief to save the princess in this labyrinth.

The Briar Patch/Towers-- where the carnival once stood there are now a couple of ominous towers, empty or filled with scuttling, skittery creatures or perhaps an unlucky slumbering foreigner. There are nasty thorns growing all over, but maybe if you're careful you can break through and find the one tower that houses the witch. Be careful--she has spells to throw at you. But she's also guarding another princess, so maybe it's worth the fight and...the flying monkeys.

The meadow-- deep in the lower district there is now a large meadow. Looks harmless, right? Only if you venture too far in, you will come across what look to be...monsters? Monsters of all shapes and sizes, vicious and ready to kill...except they're just illusions. The illusions get more and more real the closer you get to the center of the meadow, however. Some of them might even be able to actually bite, so be careful. Deep in the meadow there is a unicorn who is holding a poor princess captive. Can anyone rescue them?

Anyone is welcome to make a thread--princesses or princes or average Vatheonite pixie! Threadjack, have fun, be creative! Just remember that only the princesses' ~one true love~ will succeed...but everyone is welcome to give it a shot.]

Don't see what's so heroic about diving in when you're gonna get tangled in stupid brambles!

[ Damned branches catching his jacket and causing him to loose his balance. But he picks himself back up, hacking at it a little more vigorously than necessary in retaliation. ]

...What's with you and fairies anyway?

Well Link has a fairy, Navi, who helps him out and tells him where to go next and stuff. [Holds a branch aside for Laharl to pass under.] I just think having one right now would be really helpful, y'know?

[ A look of disbelief and another ear twitch. But he's just gonna hack that branch away. Thanks for the gesture though. ]

That why you were all beat up when yours poofed?

[ Hauling sword over shoulder now. ]

Fairies. Never had em back home.

There's other fairies on my world too. They help out by healing you if you get really hurt. Or, y'know, healing good people.

[He sounds a little sore about it. There was a fairy that had moved into the water temple a few days before Link had stormed the place and Sola had attempted to make friends with it without much success. In fact, the little magic the fairy had used burned like fire and he'd been forced to shove it in a pot to keep it from continually stinging him. He had just wanted to make friends with the little thing, but it was convinced that he was evil.

Guess he was, at the time, but still. Sola sighs and kicks a root.]

So yeah, I was sad when they died. What do you have instead, on your world?

[Zelda and Shizuo went to the forest to find Sola, but after a very short time pushing through that brush in a sheet, Zelda stops short and takes out her harp.]

He'll be listening for music.

[And without further explanation, she starts to play and sing Saria's song, now with far more power to lure people than ever before.]

[Though the ax isn't heavy for Shizuo to carry, it is annoying - he isn't used to being burdened by such an ugly weapon...and for what purpose? To cut down a tree? He can tell that Zelda isn't having the best time walking through the forest in that sheet and wonders if he should offer some help in some form or fashion - he could easily carry her, but he isn't sure she'd appreciate that suggestion. So Shizuo is glad when Zelda stops to play the song, instead.

And that song - that song makes Shizuo move even closer to Zelda, feeling as though he needs to be next to her, for some inexplicable reason. He doesn't remember feeling this way about her singing before, but he doesn't feel like questioning it. Instead, Shizuo just listens.]

Zelda -> Shizuo -> Sola -> Laharl seems good, yeah?

[Sola pauses mid-hack with his sword and looks up, ears twitching at the far-away strains of song now permeating through the forest. Suddenly excited, Sola whirls towards his fuzzy companion.] I told you there'd be music!

[Better hurry if you wanna keep up with the intrepid knight crashing his way through the brier, Laharl.]

Mind if Lloyd jumps in, too? Sola -> Lloyd -> Laharl -> Zelda -> Shizuo?

[It really is a good idea, but Sola isn't the only one to hear Zelda's song. Lloyd had been searching the forest, not entirely sure why, but feeling like there was something important there, when the melody reaches his ears. His steps pause, and he turns his head, something inside him almost tugging him toward the source of the sound.

Well, why not? He hasn't had any luck yet figuring out what his subconscious is trying to tell him. Why not investigate the first thing he's found?

It won't be long before there's another knight emerging from the underbrush, this one clad in armor and red, with two swords instead of one.]

Oh, uh, hey. What's going on?

Sounds good! Pardon my delays!

Nothing like it. I toldja. We're demons, dammit! We do our own--

[ But he stops in mid sentence, hearing the music as well as Sola did. It causes one of his ears to perk and his head to tilt slightly in confusion. Of course, before he can react, Sola's off like a rocket and leaving the prince to scramble after him. ]

Hey! Wait up!

[ There's a pause though before he can dart after his companion as he glances back at Lloyd. ]

...who the hell're you?

Oh... I didn't intend to call quite this many people...

[Seriously, who follows a random song in a forest other than Link or a Link clone? That seems weird.]

My apologies. Are you doing well, Sola?

[Shizuo recognizes Sola and Laharl (though the ears and hat are new), but not the other guy with two swords. He instinctively tightens his grip on the ax, which is slung over his shoulder, but doesn't move - for now. He says nothing, since Laharl takes care of asking the guy's identity, and merely stands close to Zelda.]

Zelda! See Laharl, I told you! [Sola chides his companion and grins triumphantly, blushing a little to see Zelda wearing something different than usual, though he doesn't seem to realize it's a bed sheet.]

We were just looking for Ion. He disappeared in the middle of the night and the apartment turned into a castle and all his clothes were dresses.

[The elf blinks for a moment, registering that someone other than those he knows is in the clearing as Laharl asks his name. He blinks at Lloyd, also tightening the grip on his weapon.] Yeah, who are you?

[Lloyd suddenly gets the strangest urge to bow to the others in greeting, and he's already tilting his head, one hand on the hilt of a sword, not in threat, but readiness and respect, before he can really think to resist. Whoa. Since when did he greet people like that?]

I'm Lloyd.

Wait...

[He blinks from Sola to Zelda. She looks different, but...]

Zelda? You're Zelos's friend, right? We spoke once...?

[There's a note of hesitance in his voice. This is the same Zelda, isn't it?]

[ Kay, a little wary but he's not gonna say anything. Just default to crossing his arms across his chest with one ear flicking in irritation. ]

Huh. So what's with calling us out here in the middle of the forest anyway?

Oh Laharl, your slow is so cute~ *cuddles, can make it far away before Laharl retaliates!*

That is correct, I am Zelda. I apologize to everyone else here, I was only attempting to call Sola.

[Zelda turns to Sola, looking at him intently. Was it the blood of the hero or the spirit that was important? She walks over to Sola and puts her hands on the sides of his head, speaking in a low, musical voice.]

What should we do? Is the princess here safe? Should we be rescuing another?

[Shizuo doesn't know anything about the way swords can be used for respect, so he narrows his eyes at Lloyd, and then at the hand that rests on his sword. Zelda doesn't seem too bothered by him, though, so Shizuo doesn't say or do anything threatening.]

This place is a mess.

[He's mostly talking to himself, wondering how they're going to navigate the thick forest and whatever may be living in it to find a princess. He doesn't have any good ideas, and therefore hopes that Zelda and Sola can come up with something.]

[At Zelda's touch, every thought flees Sola's head and he turns a brilliant scarlet, enough to rival Lloyd's clothing. He stutters incoherently for a moment before managing to force out intelligible words.]

U-uuhh... I-I feel like maybe we, uh, should... go deeper in the forest?

[By the three Goddessess Zelda, he can't function when you're so close like that!]

B-but you should stay here where it's safe!

[Okay maybe he can function a little bit.]

Nah, don't apologize. It was an honest mistake, right? Besides, maybe I can help.

[He looks around the rough circle they've formed, taking in each face. He doesn't even bat an eye at the fact that some of them clearly aren't human. That's hardly a factor in his mind.]

You're looking for someone, right? There's enough of us here that we could split up and cover twice as much ground. Or are you worried there's something dangerous out here?
