[ Hiiiii little buddy! Auntie Kohaku is here! And she's plopping down right next to him and watching him roll around with a big smile. She then pulls out a cat toy and waves it around in front of him. ]
Will this do as a Christmas Present? I have a few other things you might like, too.

It's called 'How soon can you notice a shinigami stalking your every sodden footstep?', because that's totally a thing that is happening, and the very moment Kid is noticed will be the moment he points sternly at the floor, and offers--
A towel.
How thoughtful.]
Excuse me, but do be so kind as to put that away and dry off. You're tracking water everywhere.

".... How long have I been out?" Yukio murmured as he rubbed his eyes tiredly.
no subject
His eyes wandered however, just the slightest bit to the room and its occupant. The ears make him double take though but he decides against saying anything. After all, he just woke up. It wouldn't be right worrying him right off the bat. "Welcome back, Yukio. The city just wasn't the same without you." he finally says, all grins as he extends a hand to the boy.

Presents be damned, Yukio was going to get glomped. A few things might have gotten crushed on the way, but Rin didn't care.

See him strongly resist the urge to reorganize every last one of those presents under the tree. So far, he's done a superb job resisting the siren call of tidying up a haphazard pile of gift-wrapped boxes, even if this has necessitated a quick retreat to his own room to bask in its symmetry a moment or two.
Always under the guise of having forgotten something.
In any case, visitors are liable to run into him in the hallway on his way back, in the vicinity of the tree, or while joining everyone else in the holiday feast.]

And then, her children would be another year older in another couple of days.
Still, she couldn't deny that she was a little awkward around so many people she wasn't familiar with. Yuri was ordinarily pretty social, but wouldn't anyone be awkward if they had been dead for the past sixteen years and then, suddenly alive? ]
bumped back to before Yukio wakes up
There was still some lingering shock from what he had found out that day, but even if some part of him longed to deny it just to avoid the emotions it was going to all bring, he knew he also had no way to deny it either. She told the same story Yukio had given him after getting those memories from Satan (albeit in much more detail) and there were just too many things that added up. Two plus two did indeed equal four, and even Rin wasn't dumb enough to ignore all the signs that were right there in front of him.
It didn't make it any less strange, though, and fuck if he didn't know how to deal with it. At all. Between that and the apparent curse of ill luck for the week that had resulted in things like his tail being closed in doors, perfectly fine equipment malfunctioning and otherwise fine clothing tearing without prompting, Rin's mood had utterly plummeted. And right before the holidays, too.
Thankfully any desire to be driven by anger was kept at bay, and while he had been quieter than usual (and noticeably down, at least to those that knew him) he was managing to keep himself in check. He wasn't about to ruin anyone else's Christmas just because he couldn't figure out to handle something like that.
It didn't make being around Yuri any easier, though. Half the time he didn't know what to say. He still hadn't figured out if calling her Mom was even okay, or if he even felt okay doing it.
The whole situation was too damn surreal.
But she was a guest, and he wasn't about to ignore her, either. After a bit of hovering around behind her awkward and uncertain, he finally moved up beside her, rubbing hands on the front of his blue apron nervously.]
H... hey. Uhm. You gettin' enough food? There's plenty for everyone...

And a couple of days of particularly bad luck hasn't exactly helped.
Residents of the Villa - the ones that know him well enough anyway - may find that their tailed companion might be a little... off, even as his favorite holiday approaches. Thankfully most of his anger has been directed at various inanimate objects that seem to keep breaking around him, and for the most part he's avoided yelling or snapping at other people. But he's far from his usual talkative self, and even his smiles look forced.
He hasn't stopped cooking, though, so chances are if he's not in the living room or his bedroom he's back in the kitchen. Food, at least, was a good distraction, and there was more than enough people to eat whatever he put out.]
(ooc note: Rin's curse is bad luck for the week, so if you want to contribute to it, keep it to things like stepping on his tail, knocking doors in to his face, etc. Mostly harmless but annoying.)
no subject
Tell us your thoughts on coming back to your room at some point to find this asshole hanging out there, just waiting for you, after thoughtlessly dropping the biggest bombshell a few days ago?
Because Kid's here, hands folded behind his back, stock-still and staring straight at the door, as if he'd just been expecting Rin to arrive.
The problem with surprises is when it's a reaper, they tend to be kind of unpleasant ones.]

A hug/cheek kiss combo from Maka.
She wanted to wait until he wasn't busy as hell so she wouldn't risk irritating him or getting in his way, so this is one of the moments where he's in the living room.]
Hey, Merry Christmas, Rin.
[Sure, that's her arm looped around his, but what's that wrapping around his tail suddenly? Maka doesn't seem to notice it, but if he looks back...it's a very fuzzy demon's tail now tangled up in his.]
