[And she looks back, too.
Yes, there's a tail. Definitely a tail. Though one of the first thoughts that crosses her mind is that it doesn't match her hair color.
But then she looks away from that, lets go of Rin and pokes at her teeth.
Yep, they're definitely a lot sharper than before. Then she tries her ears--
...Yeeep, they're pointed. And the tips of them are now turning red along with her face as she buries her hands in them and tries to tug her tail away from Rin's.]
Oh no, I didn't even realize that this happened! I--
[...Am stuck.
Her tail is stuck. To Rin's. Oh god, the humiliation mounts.]

[He thinks it's adorable. Or. Well. That was his first thought, the second being 'Oh God don't make any sudden movements or we're both gonna be on the floor.'
He still thinks it's cute, but he can worry about that when they're not about to inadvertently cause each other pain.
Luckily demon tails seem to run on the long side, enough that the end that's tangled is far enough out that he's able to slowly turn and bend down to try and figure out what's going on here.]
... it's really soft. Yours, I mean.

[This is still so weird, if Rin was trying to get her to relax that had the opposite effect. She's stock still out of fear of pulling too hard on his tail.]
That...probably won't last long. It being soft, I mean.
[This is awkward. She can't even comprehend why it feels so weird and awkward.]

[Sorry, Maka. He actually sounds a little amused at that. There's a faint snicker before he coughs and clears his throat.]
Seriously, chill out. It takes a bit to get used to but if you get all tense like that it's just gonna make your back sore.
[She's concerned about him, he's concerned about her, and their tails are still tangled.
Best couple. Clearly.]

[Yes it is, she doesn't even need to turn around and look herself to realize that it's puffed.
Like a cat's.
Oh god, she's turned into a cat.]

And Rin is about to make that far more obvious.
Hearing that, he stops and looks up at her with a sigh, eventually throwing an arm around her waist so he can pull her to sit down on the carpet.
Even if she protests, he doesn't bother listening, and soon enough he's doing the exact same thing she does to him to calm him down - petting her tail.]

[But then she stops. What's he doing? Is that anything to do with untangling their tails? Why is it making her eyelids droop and causing her to curl up against him.
After a moment, a little sound starts up. Not like the rumbling often heard from Rin when his tail is pet, but more similar to the sound of a kitten's purring.
Somehow she's not pissed anymore, though once she regains her senses she will be very, very, very humiliated.]

Luckily it only takes a little petting to keep her in that state. She'll probably come back to something resembling lucidity (though considerably more groggy now that she's started) but by the time she does she'll find he's managed to work their tails apart.
Much easier to do when she's relaxed.
But he's not cruel enough to just leave her there. Once he's capable of moving again he picks her up and moves to the couch, settling in such a way that puts her curled up against him again.]

[Yes, that's her intelligent contribution to regaining her senses. But she doesn't move, her tail doesn't even flick, it's too warm and altogether pleasant.]

[Okay, not completely true. He was fully expecting to get beaten for what he did, but when the question comes up he just... laughs, and resumes petting.
For as crappy as things had been going lately, this was certainly a nice break from feeling like emotional crap.]

She might have mrr'd.
And she might be sleepily reaching out her hand to his tail too.
Not to pet it like he's doing to hers, she sees the bandages on there, only to lightly stroke the fluffy end. She honestly didn't realize it felt this good, clearly the solution is to just provide Rin with more tail pettings after the curse is over.]

And Rin has absolutely no complaints about getting pet back. It's quite comfortable. Spending time with Maka is always nice, but the added bonus of tail petting just makes him want to curl up and fall asleep with her right there.]
Never thought I'd say this but... you make a pretty cute demon...
