... Rin, I really do think she's proud of you, no matter what. Mothers... they see someone completely different when they see their children. Where you see nothing but fear and pain... she sees her whole world and more in you.

[Rin doesn't look at Shing. He's been having that problem a lot lately - meeting the gazes of his friends when all he can reflect back is sadness and worry.]

I think all you can really do is take it one step at a time. I know it's gonna be awkward, and... it'll be hard, too. Just... start small, if it helps. Talking just about whatever comes to mind. It'll get easier as you, Yukio and your mother get used to each other...

And try not to worry about it so much... I do think that all of you will be just fine. I truly believe it.

[He wants to believe Shing, he really does, but he can't really bring himself to just yet. Maybe when things aren't so tense it will be easier to know he's speaking the truth, but right then all Rin can think about is how difficult the holidays are going to be with the way Yukio is acting.
