[ all friday evening, the locals have been very accelerated - you might find one shoving a flyer on you or handing you a pair of cheap sunglasses. the flyers more or less explain the reason why, and if you didn't get one you'll be receiving a message on your SFC regardless - ]

ECLIPSE ON THE ISLAND TONIGHT!! COME JOIN US!!

[ apparently there's to be an eclipse this evening. the entire bubble itself will be darkened as it usually is at night sans for electrical lights and the coral, but the real show will be able to be seen on the island. it sounds interesting, so maybe you want to check it out? a lot of other people are going—

although if you do decide to visit the island that evening, you might be in for an unexpected surprise. sure, the eclipse itself is pretty fantastic and not a thing one would expect to be able to see in vatheon of all places, but there's something else on the horizon... ]

[ oh wow, why did that local just shove a pair of sunglasses on you? huh, that sure is a lot of people hanging around the elevator area - an eclipse? maybe you should invite a few friends... ]

[ LOOK AT THOSE COLORS— or lack thereof, since it's getting darker. did you bring a flashlight? or maybe you're still in the city and suddenly wondering why the bubble darkened sooner than it usually does... ]

[With a gruesome rumble and a roar, the sky goes dark. Yet even amidst the darkness, there's a form that doesn't reflect any light at all - the ambient light of the sky barely shows the form of a giant sphere. There's a deep churning in the earth, and a beastly bellow, an evil aura radiating off of this mysterious sphere, as it shudders and grumbles ominously.

Amaterasu is the first to react, as if her very instinct implies her to, but is quickly immobilized. Her markings disappear, twelve orbs seemingly being ripped from her body and absorbed into Yami, and for those who cannot see her markings her normally radiantly white fur grows dim and grey. The top half of the ball opens, revealing a smaller glass ball - it's too dark to see what is inside - which then fires a beam of energy at the defenseless god. Amaterasu is blasted across the beach, severely injured and in no condition to fight.

The glass orb retreats into its shell, before the ball bounces itself up and aims to crash down on its nearest targets.]

((OOC: Yami has descended! Everyone can contribute to the fight, but there's a distinct feeling of hopelessness as the giant mechanical ball seems to take little to no damage. Yami will be attacking full force, but your character is free to dodge most if not all attacks. If you want your character injured, feel free to choose which hits land!))

[There's no way she's getting back up any time soon. She's barely able to stand, and really, she shouldn't be.]

[Chibi isn't looking much better, though the lack of being hit by giant energy beams has granted him mobility, at least. He rushes to his momma's side, sniffing at her worriedly.

Are you okay?] Woo...

Hrr... rr...

[Ammy pants, but drags Chibi closer with a paw. She doesn't want you getting in a fight with Yami, it's not safe. :c]

[It had been a hell of a month for one Rin Okumura. So much so that it was a wonder he still had his wits about him. But having amazing friends and a wonderful girlfriend helped.

A wonderful girlfriend he'd never actually been on a date with before.

The flyer and glasses getting shoved in his hands was confusing at first, until he read the flyer and realized what it was all about.

An eclipse? Wow, weird but kind of cool, and actually not a half bad idea for a date on top of that. After chasing after the local that had given him the glasses to ask for another pair for Maka, he rushed home and told her his idea. She was surprisingly all for it, and after a bit of quick kitchen work he had a packed basket dinner ready for the two of them to go watch it together.

Rin carried the heavy basket in one hand while Maka carried a big blanket, and they exited the elevator together, Rin sporting a rather dopey smile.]

Hey, you ever seen an eclipse?

Lord Nobunaga, the Demon King, had definitely had a kind of darkness about him. Though it was most obviously visible in the dark energy that flowed from his sword, Mitsuhide had learned, in time, that it was very much inside him as well.

A harsh lesson that had been, and a painful one too.

But this? This is far beyond that. Nobunaga is but a shadow in comparison to this thing. The samurai knows not what it is, except that it is a great danger. Something to be feared, and feared deeply; even as he swiftly approaches, hand on the hilt of his katana, Mitsuhide can feel himself shake. It has even harmed Her. The Great Mother and Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu. She whom he has grown to fear and avoid, because he is a sinner, and...

Because he has begun to doubt.

There is no room for dwelling on that now, however, and he will not be held back by his fear. Mitsuhide is a warrior, and there is a threat. He must stand and fight, for everyone's sake. So despite the shake of his body, his expression is focused and determined, and as he comes close to the huge sphere his mind focuses on nothing but the darkness ahead of him.

He draws his sword.

[It towers over Mitsuhide's head with ease... an eerie monster, something more than beast or man or even god. It's a force, as grand and ancient as Amaterasu herself, perhaps even older.

The mechanical form is revealed as it begins to glow, a malicious red light emanating in distinct patterns. It responds to the warrior taking up his weapon, letting out a hissing, bellowing roar, eerily mechanical in sound. Despite its heftiness, it launches itself up into the air, dropping on top of the foolish challenger.]

[Now that's a loaded question. When Rin had invited her out to see the eclipse, it actually took her a moment of consulting her books on the matter to see what an eclipse was without having drawn out questions about her world all over again. The moon was certainly different in this world, it seemed so far away and peaceful, almost lonely. The moon in her world...well. It was a whole other story entirely.]

Umm...no, actually. Things get too busy, so I've only seen [drawings, theories] pictures of them.

Hey... hey--!

[OMIGOD WHAT THE FUCK between seeing a giant mechanical fish drop onto the Island and... well, all of the darkness and other things it's really a miracle that Yuri's still somewhat sane after this.

In any case, he's already rushing over to the fallen dog... wolf... thing and trying to help her. Damn, where are those gels...?!]

[Oh hey Yuri, s'up. Ammy huffs, then whines, looking weaker than her wounds would imply.]

[Everything had been going so well before that. Rin and Maka were enjoying the eclipse and eachother's company and all the bad thoughts about what had happened recently were far from Rin's mind.

Until that... thing appeared over the island and all hell broke loose.

At first Rin wasn't afraid. Worried, maybe, but the darkness radiating off the strange orb wasn't all that different from things he had felt before. Other demons, Satan, even Vantias to a certain extent. It wasn't enough to properly scare him even though he did stand and grab his case-covered sword. His other hand grabbed Maka's, and while he didn't completely pull her behind him there was a distinctively protective way he stood just slightly in front of her.

But that was all before Ammy tried to go after the orb, and was effectively cosmically curb stomped in to submission.

That's when Rin's heart sunk. He knew her. He knew she had power far beyond anything he could understand and he had realized after the first time meeting her that she was something far brighter than his poor half demonic soul. To see her knocked down so easily...

He tried to scream for her, but his voice caught in his throat. There were others already trying to attack the orb, and he had to do something. He squeezed Maka's hand tightly, then let go, turning to her.]

Help anyone who needs it!

[He wasn't going to say "be careful" when it was clear that was going to be near impossible, but he managed a weak grin and a promise of his own.]

I won't get killed, 'kay?

[He didn't wait for an answer, yanking out his sword and activating his flames as he went tearing across the island, looking for the god-dog.]

AMMY!

[While Yami grumbled and focused more on Maka, Ammy stood, elbows shaking and threatening to collapse under her as she stood. She's severely injured, but even more so, she's weakened, more than a blow like that would do. She attempts to take a step towards Yami, but she can't support her weight on three legs, and she simply flops back into the sand pathetically.]

[Rin had, miraculously, missed the book consulting. Mostly because she oh so tactfully did it while he was cooking their dinner, but I digress.

He tilted his head at her a bit, but shrugged.]

I've only ever seen like... one. Even if there's one goin' on you can't always catch 'em if they're on the other side of the world or something.

[Rin logic! It's flawless, isn't it?

He puts the basket down once they've found a good spot and takes the blanket from Maka to spread it out on the sand.]

But hey, first time for everything right!

*At some location on the island, possibly with a few people she knows, Rita has a pair of goggles on. They're not her usual green ones, though - though those are still on her head. Instead, they seem to be nearly solid black. She's lying down, looking up at the sun, just as the moon starts to cover its path.*

... Huh.

*As the orb comes into view, Rita leaps up. This thing feels way, way, way too familiar.

And then that beam of energy - even from her witness, so far away, freezes her to the very bone.*

That... This...

*And then, Rita grabs her Sash. Before she can so much as finish casting a fireball, however, the shell has closed around the glass orb, her first shots exploding to seemingly no effect.*

... I'd better find Yuri.

[Rin skidded to a halt as soon as he spotted her, sheathing his sword and dropping to his knees in front of her. If she's already hurt, the last thing he wants to do is make it worse with his flames.]

Geez... Ammy... don't try to get up, okay? Just--...

[Just what? Lay there while the rest of Vatheon gets roasted by a damn orb of pure darkness? He has no idea what to do, but the fact that he can't even feel anything from her anymore scares the hell out of him. How the hell can something just steal power like that?

Rin swallows hard, and moves closer in an attempt to pick Ammy up.]

We gotta get you outta here...

[The fire strikes the shell, and the ball lets out an ear-splitting mechanical howl. Two saw blades, one on each side, emerge from the globe, and it spins towards its first attacker in anger.]

[Holy -

That's -

What the heck?!

Rinoa is streaming across the island, her boots smacking the sand hard. It makes running difficult, but she's too fueled by adrenaline and terror to really notice. She saw the white mass of Ammy go flying, and her heart just dropped. Chibi's a good, and she's assuming Ammy is one, too. If she got smacked down like that...

Regardless, she's heading over towards her and crouching down next to her.]

Hey! Hey!! Are you - Are you okay? I can try healing you if you need...

[Healed or not, Amaterasu has lost her very godhood. She's pale, weak... she pants tiredly, shivering from the shock.]

Hnn....

[She whines, sore and in pain. But at the last thing he says, she struggles, weakly, to get out of his grip. No, she can't go. She can't, not yet, she has to fight this, she knows it.]

H-hey, no! I know you wanna do somethin' about this, but you're just gonna get killed!

[Trust him, Ammy, he understands that completely. But he also knows if she doesn't retreat now that thing isn't just going to stop with her powers.]

Hnnn...!

[She looks up at him, ears folded back. She doesn't want to retreat, and let people get hurt, but she has no choice.]

[Unfortunately Rinoa has no idea :c Still, she doesn't trust her powers enough to be able to heal properly. It's one thing to blow up stuff, but it takes another sort of knack to heal.

Noticing her shivering, Rinoa takes off her duster and draped it over Ammy. It's not much, but it's something anyway.]

Hang in there, girl. We'll deal with this thing, okay?
