[Equius has been in Vatheon long enough to know that when the locals insist on you doing something, it's best to just listen and do what they say. So he dutifully hung up a stocking (a long, pin-striped one), although he's still not quite sure why, and made out with his matesprit under some mistletoe, and found some gifts for his friends. Then he curled up in bed like normal and went to sleep.]

[Which he still would be--asleep, that is--were it not for the sudden introduction of a heavy, feathery butt on his head and loud, excited kwehing in his ear. It seems the chocobos are awake and worked up about something.]

[Equius comes back about a half hour later, the chocobos trailing after him. They've been fed and properly fussed over now, so they're much calmer. He's carrying a tray with a cup of milk and a cup of hot tea (spiked with a liberal splash of Faygo), and he sets that carefully on the nightstand before climbing back on the bed and sitting crosslegged beside Gamzee.]

Hey. Guess what day it is today?

Friday?

[That sure is one muffled reply somewhere from the blanket heap. Gamzee is more awake. Slightly.]

[Equius takes a sip of his milk, shooing away Darkleer, and gets the gifts he got for Gamzee out of his sylladex and lets them drop to the bed.]

It's also 12th Perigree's, or Christmas.

[That makes Gamzee rise, pushing up on his elbows to look at him, the blankets tented weirdly over his horns.]

That today?

Yes.

[Equius offers Gamzee the cup of tea, and gestures with his chin towards the brightly colored packages on the bed.]

Those are for you.

Oh.

[Gamzee sits up, crossing his legs as well, as he takes the cup from him. He smiles, folding his fingers around it and taking a sip.]

Thanks.

[His eyes stray curiously to the gifts. What could it be, what could it be?]

Got yours too. Fuckers just be in my modus still.

That's fine.

[Honestly, Equius didn't expect Gamzee to get him anything, so whatever he's got, he's going to love. He nudges one of the boxes closer with his foot.]

Go ahead. Open it.

[Please. He is not that forgetful. He got Equius presents and he even thought about them. Aren't you impressed?

Setting his tea down, he pulls the box onto his lap, curiously attacking the wrapping paper to get it open.]

[It shouldn't be too hard to get open, considering that Equius is not good with paper and it's only held together in a few places.]

[When Gamzee gets it open, he'll find a new set of juggling clubs, lightweight and painted bright colors, clearly for juggling and not a weapon. When they're thrown in the air, they light up and flash cheerfully.]

[Equius waits for Gamzee's reaction, a little nervously.]

[Gamzee stares as the lightweight clubs tumble onto his lap. These are definitely not right for fighting with. They are far too light and delicate. One good smack, and you'll just have a broken club. Which is something Gamzee recognizes instantly. He might not have many skills, but he can juggle.

His fingers practically itch to use them (oh god how long has it been?) but rather than do that, he shoves them aside, and pounces on Equius, half on his lap, his arms tightly around his neck.]

I love it.

Yeah?

[Equius breathes a sigh of relief. He wasn't sure if Gamzee would like them or not; he'd been worried they'd stir up bad memories, which is why he deliberately made them as lightweight and cheerful as he could.]

I'm glad.

[Just wait until Gamzee uses them for the first time and sees the light feature!]

[He will just freak at that.

Gamzee hums faintly, nuzzling at Equius' cheek, for once not leaving smears of make up.]

[Honestly, though, Gamzee didn't have to get him anything. Everyday with him is a gift.]

[Gamzee digs into his sylladex, pulling out two things. One bag he drops behind his back for now, while he presents Equius with the other thing first. He didn't even bother to pack it. He figured with Equius' strength that would just be unfair.

Also he tried and got caught up in the tape and had to be freed by Darkleer. Embarrassing stuff.

The box he has contains a number of DVDs. The title Rowboat Wars is portrayed quite proudly on the front, though the actual pictures on the box show more robots battling than any sort of shipping vehicles.

The other thing he will give in a moment. This is mostly because he honestly hadn't been able to choose.]

[Funny, Equius had to ask Darkleer for help getting Gamzee's gift wrapped. Even with the older troll's assistance, that shoddy job was the best they could do. Folding paper is just not meant for STRONG trolls.]

[Movies. Movies about robots. Movies about robots fighting each other. Equius' eyes, not hidden behind his shades, light up and a big, spontaneous grin spreads across his face.]

[Gamzee figured he'd like them! And hey, he's getting something out of it too. He bets Equius wouldn't mind some wicked cuddles while watching robots beat each other up.]

[Gamzee quickly pulls the bag out again, first slipping the necklace with the Sagittarius symbol around his own neck, then sliding the one with the silver Capricorn symbol around Equius' neck.]

[When Equius opens his eyes, he doesn't notice the pendant resting on Gamzee's chest right away. He only sees his matesprit, who he loves and pities so much, and that's enough.]
