[It's not that unusual to see Izaya looking happy. It's just unusual to see him lugging so much shit with him. Okay, it's not a lot, but by his standard- it's too much.

There's a telescope slung around his shoulder, a blanket under the other arm, and then a basket filled with who knows what, probably heads of dullahans or something, in his spare hand.

He's peering up at the bubble as he makes his way towards the elevator.

When. Oh no. A book that had been crammed into the top of the basket topples out. The tragedy.

But look.

Izaya keeps walking. Wow, his attention must be elsewhere pretty intense. And what is that book anyway? It looks weird. Are those instructions on human sacrifice------!!!

Actually it's just a fairy tale. But who can read kanji anyway? Aw look at the fairies-]

[Discovered, Sola jumps up and stands at attention, arms stiff at his sides.] Yes! Sorry, I just, uhh...

[Several excuses race through his mind but he's been taught the truth is the only thing he should tell.]

I-I'm not.. really supposed to talk to you but I wanted to see how you were.

[Ah, so it was. His expression becomes somewhat dark- but more so in a sad way.]

I missed you. I'm sorry that I didn't instantly contact you....

[His mouth is pulled down deeper into a frown]

I had a feeling that you were avoiding me. I was afraid this would happen. You've left the apartment, right?

[Aw. Izaya. Looks so sad, his shoulders hunched up.]

Hn...I'm sorry, Sola. I didn't think that she wouldn't return your affections. And- I'm sorry if you hate me...I'm doing okay I guess but...But I miss you.

I don't hate you!

[The exclamation is so strong Sola actually bridges the rest of the gap between them, looking earnest.]

I miss you too, and everyone, but Signless would get really sad if I moved again and I think Psii gets lonely and I'm just downstairs so maybe I can come visit sometimes? I mean, they can't make me stay away.

[Even if Sola isn't wholly comfortable, Izaya just looks so sad.]

And it's not your fault about Zelda, you can't make someone feel something they didn't already. [He smiles a bit at the informant, though the gloomy overcast from thinking about Zelda doesn't quite lift.] Shizuo must have really liked you already anyway, right?

But you left me....

[Frowning deeper yet-and yes that is totally possible. Although he does sigh and look away, seeming to accept that statement regardless.]

Signless? [His eyes shift up to meet Sola's for a second but then they drop. Signless. He's assuming that's the troll. Hm. Psii. Yeah. He's going to look into them later.]

Well...I don't see why you had to move out. You didn't even tell me.

[That's pretty rude, Sola. Actually, incredibly.]

It's not really fair. I mean. I was just trying to help you and they take you away from me. But I guess it would be nice if we could visit one another in private. I still never got around to teaching you about the world.

[He stares at him as he mentions Zelda, though doesn't comment much. Zelda. He was still tickled over her reaction to the whole thing. Then there's Shizuo and-]

Mmm. I guess so. But it took jumping off a building to rip it out of him...

[It's a bit of a grumble but not entirely a bad thing. After all, Shizuo still...chose him. Right?]

I guess I just didn't think he did. And I don't think he did until he was forced into a situation where he had to make a choice. Ah well.

Well they made me move! And I didn't tell you because, um...

[He rubs his arm, looking embarrassed.]

I was afraid you'd be mad... I haven't even talked to Laharl yet either... But I like living with them too, I think they'd be sad if I moved again now.

[He thinks for a moment, then puts his hands on his hips obstinately.]

We can still meet! I'm my own person, they can't always tell me what to do. I get to pick my friends, so.. we'll still meet in secret, okay? Just you and me?

[He's not sure what to say about Shizuo so he just doesn't, looking at Izaya hopefully, wishing hard that the informant won't be upset with him for long.]

[All of the frowning on Izaya's end. He just looks so uncomfortable.]

I didn't want to lose you because of all of this...Hn. I would never be mad at you, Sola. I'm just upset with the way things turned out. I'm sad that you moved.

[There's that pitying tone of 'don't you care?' behind it but he just drops his shoulders and lets it go for now.]

Mmm. I guess. It won't be the same as having you around but I guess it's better than nothing.

Meet in secret...?

[Color him offended, Sola.]

Jeez, that makes it sound like you're ashamed to be with me. But...I guess I understand. I'm pretty good at keeping secrets.

No no no it's not like that at all! I just don't want everyone to be mad at you! And you're the one who said in private! That's the same as secret, isn't it?

[His face is earnest; it really is so Izaya won't get in trouble. Sola bares no ill will other than that bit of initial uncertainty when he'd first approached, but even that is rapidly fading in the face of Sola's fear that he's upset his friend.]

You won't lose me, I promise. What if I lived both places? Like I spent some nights with you and some in my new place?

[Give him a break Izaya, his brain's going to explode trying to please so many people at once.]

Hm. Well yeah but....Heh. I guess you're right Sola.

[He looks awfully sheepish.]

You've gotten a bit smarter, haven't you? I feel stupid now. You're going to one-up me soon enough.

[...............]

Really? [Wide eyes and he looks relatively hopeful by that.] You would do that for me...?

[He can deal with it. He essentially survived jumping off a building, didn't he? And maybe he ought to decide where his loyalties lie.]

That'd be great! Plus, I'd rather you do it more for Ion than me. I adore having you around but I think Ion really liked having you there too. It'd be good for everyone. We all miss you.

[Sola looks pleased at the praise.] Really? I don't think I can one-up you, you know a lot more than me, but I've been trying to learn stuff.

[The Hylian looks to the side, embarrassed.] U-um, well.. Ion does sleep over sometimes so it's only fair if I did too...

[He's starting to miss Ion on nights when he sleeps in his own bed. Cuddling with his friend is definitely better than sleeping alone. His eyes light up again.] Maybe we can have a big sleepover with everyone in the living room and make popcorn and tell stories!

...A big sleepover?

[Izaya actually looks legit surprised by this. He has never once in his life had a 'sleepover'. He's had people live with him before. He never had that sort of thing growing up though. Not even with Shinra.

He wonders if Shizuo has but instantly knows that no, he hasn't. Maybe he could come. It'd make the man happy. Izaya knows well enough how lonely he gets. His face becomes somber but...happy.]

Sure. That sounds like a really great idea, Sola. You really are growing.

[He'll have to sneak out so Signless doesn't know where he's going, but both Trolls had been gone for a long time the other day without saying anything at all so maybe it wasn't really that bad.

Sola grins proudly at Izaya, ever pleased at the approval.]

We can even make hot chocolate! I know how to make that, now!

[It really is a big step. When he lived with Izaya, he hadn't made any effort on any of the housework, but under Signless he'd learned quite a bit about cleaning and cooking and various other domestic chores.]

[Izaya's really going to have to meet this Signless guy. But another date. Or maybe he'll just let the guy come to him- if he'd ever do that. Izaya has his doubts.]

Oh? You do?

[He's quite impressed. Well not really but he plays the role of a guardian well.]

That's good. I should have been around more to teach you things but. Nn. Well.

[Weird times call for distant measures. No big deal.]

Anyway.

[Sleepovers aside.]

Did you want to join me or did you have some place better to be~?

I'm sure there's other stuff only you can teach me.

[The Hylian looks this way and that, trying to think.]

Um, well I didn't say I'd be home at a certain time, so... [He breaks into a broad grin.] Where are you going? I'll go with you!
