[It's not that unusual to see Izaya looking happy. It's just unusual to see him lugging so much shit with him. Okay, it's not a lot, but by his standard- it's too much.

There's a telescope slung around his shoulder, a blanket under the other arm, and then a basket filled with who knows what, probably heads of dullahans or something, in his spare hand.

He's peering up at the bubble as he makes his way towards the elevator.

When. Oh no. A book that had been crammed into the top of the basket topples out. The tragedy.

But look.

Izaya keeps walking. Wow, his attention must be elsewhere pretty intense. And what is that book anyway? It looks weird. Are those instructions on human sacrifice------!!!

Actually it's just a fairy tale. But who can read kanji anyway? Aw look at the fairies-]

[Ratchet had been out on one of his usual insomnia walks when he spotted Izaya. He watched the human walk by with all of those things and had to wonder what activities Izaya had been up to. He was about to go on his own way when the book was dropped. The Lombax hoverbooted over to it and swiped it off the ground.]

Hey Izaya! You dropped something!

[Oh hello cute little creature. It's been a while. Izaya looks pretty surprised though to see him.]

Oh look. I did. [Too bad he doesn't reach for it. No. Instead, he reaches out and instantly pinches one of the lombax's ears.] You always look so cute! Nya. Maybe I should have let you move in. I could have had something around the place to pet.

[Sorry. But uh. He's petting you. Again. This is going to just be a common occurrence with their relationship. Hope you like it.]

[The one problem with this is it's conflicting. Normally physical contact isn't something Ratchet got often but on the flip side it did feel good. He'll allow it for now.]

Well...I guess. I could always spend a night or two if you really want.

[He coughs a bit. This is getting awkward and he has no idea why.]

Anyway, what are you doing out here?

[Well don't allow it for now. Because if you say no later, that's just going to cause some serious conflict and rage.

And Izaya is a merciless bastard.]

Sure! Did you ever find a place of your own....?

[There might be an invitation in there somewhere but Izaya doesn't make it too clear.]

Oh uh. Star gazing. I was going to go up to the island to see if I could recognize any constellations or things like that. I've never really done it before but I thought it could be interesting. I come from a place where we don't get too many stars so I thought it'd be nice even if I can't figure anything out.

[His hand finally drops off from his head. Petting session done.]

[Well Ratchet doesn't know that just yet so he'll allow it and deal with the consequences later.]

I did. Small free apartment but...it's kind of overflowing with inventions and junk. Only thing I've done is make a small path so I can walk around and cleared off my bed.

Star gazing huh? I could come with. I might recognize something. I have been to three galaxies after all. Want some company?

[Izaya doesn't bother to mention that everything is free in Vatheon. He just nods.]

Heh. Sounds like you need a maid to come around once and a while. You ought to get a house though. Might serve your purposes better.

Mmmm? Really? You have? That's so interesting! Sure, I'd love the company.

[He pats Ratchet again on the head because he really isn't about to say no to his company. Look at that face. He looks so dark.]

Do you want to carry this? [Offering the blanket. Yeah. Heavy load there.]

House might not be such a bad idea but I really don't need that much space.

[The Lombax shrugged and took the blanket with a lifted eyebrow. He wasn't going to touch on the pat or pets yet. He still wasn't sure if he liked them or not.]

I can carry more you know. I'm no lightweight.
