[ Twilight fades into the darkness of evening, and a whole gaggle of trolls are up on the island to camp out for one very big reason.

One big, angry, honking reason.

But general terror of the Grand Highblood aside, they're still fairly functional in-so-much as trolls ever are. And that's where the shenanigans come in. ]

[Oh good, he's not mad about bloodying his nose on Equius' chest. Equius doesn't feel too bad about it, since it was Gamzee who pushed him over, and he looks at his matesprit with a bemused expression.]

What's so funny?

[He sounds a little stiffled and wet. Probably cause there is blood in his throat and a towel on his face.]

Dat wa' fuckin' dunb.

Maybe not your smartest move ever, no.

[Equius leans in, looking concerned.]

It doesn't hurt too badly, does it?

[Gamzee gingerly removes the towel from his nose. The blood, by now, has slowed to a trickle.]

Naw, I'm cool.

[He tries to rub most blood off of his face, before he blows his nose on the towel --that things needs a wash anyway, seriously-- as always a gentleman and a charmer.]

[The problem now, of course, is that Gamzee's paint is smeared, and Equius looks away, getting another towel from his sylladex and offering it to him.]

Would you mind washing your face, please?

[Gamzee has no problem with that. He doesn't take the offered towel though. Instead he just lets himself fall backwards into the shallow water, scrubbing seawater over his face until it cleans away all the traces of paint. Seawater is good for baths right?

Eventually he surfaces again, completely soaked, his hair plastered oddly to his skull. His face is clear though, even if his nose is a bit indigo from bumping it into Equius' chest first and then rubbing it so furiously with the towel.]

Better?

[Equius looks at him out of the corner of his eye, and once he sees the smeared paint is gone, he visibly relaxes and turns the rest of the way. The towel goes back into his sylladex.]

Much, thank you.

[He leans back on his hands and looks out into the surf.]

Did I ever tell you that Feferi taught me how to swim?

[Gamzee perks, staring at him.]

You didn't.

Yes. I'm not very good in the deep water, but I'm okay in the shallows.

[He lays back, letting himself float in the warm water.]

Here, take hold of my waist. I'll pull you along.

Aight! Wait.

[Gamzee sits up, peeling out of his soaked shirt and tossing it in the general direction of the shore-line. Then, dripping water everywhere, he gets to his feet, starting to fiddle with his sweatpants.]

[Equius keeps floating while Gamzee wrestles with his shirt, but he sits up when he starts fooling with his pants.]

What are you doing?

[By now, Gamzee has his pants half way down his thighs, awkwardly balancing on one foot as he looks at him.]

We were gonna get our fuckin' swim on, yeah?

Yeeeees... but why are you taking your clothes off?

[Not that he's complaining about the view, just that he's a little unsure of where this is going.]

[Gamzee hops on his foot a few times, as he works out of his pants --it is a good thing he was wearing boxers for once-- chucking them towards the side too.]

You shouldn't all be fuckin' swimmin' with your motherfuckin' duds on. Motherfuckers get really heavy all soaked up, you get?

I guess.

[It doesn't bother Equius, but he can see how the weight of clothing would drag down on other trolls. He stands up too and strips off his shirt, tossing it back to the shore. Then he nervously unbuckles his belt, looking to the side as he pushes down his shorts.]

Relax. I ain't gonna laugh or nothing.

[Gamzee stretches slightly, staring out over the sea excited. He hasn't gone swimming in forever. He can barely wait.]

[Fair enough!]

[Equius skims out of his shorts and tosses them up on the shore before leaning back and floating again.]

Grab hold.

[Gamzee falls back into the water with a happy splash, before making his way over to Equius, wrapping his arms around him with a little squeeze.]

[Equius adjusts himself in the water, making sure Gamzee isn't the way, and then STRONG swims, using just his arms in a exaggerated backstroke.]

[Gamzee laughs, letting Equius drag him around for a little while, before he pushes away from him, pushing himself off to where the water gets deeper. It really is so good again to have all that water up high to his chin, lapping at his shoulders, and he can just let himself float here forever.]

[Equius stays in the shallower water, but he's perfectly content to just bob along beside Gamzee, looking up at the night sky above them.]

You were right... beaches are nice.

Yeah.

[He sighs, utterly content, pushing himself further and further back until he can't reach the sand anymore with his toes, diving then. He doesn't swim with the innate grace of a seadweller, but his rough style jets him through the water easy enough, his motions practised and certain.

He surfaces again a bit further out, laughing as he spits out salty seawater like a fountain. For a moment all the stress of the current situation is forgotten and he just bobs on the water utterly content.]

[Equius stands up, the water pooling around his waist, and watches Gamzee swim. He's not brave enough to go out in water that deep, but he'll certainly watch his matesprit enjoy himself in it!]

[Gamzee is only too happy to splash around in the water, float, bob and dive. He missed swimming. Hasn't gone swimming in ages. He can't go swimming alone, after all. Sea's a dangerous place. His ol' goat had never let him go swimming alone.

Eventually he dives under again, deep to the bottom. There he stays for a while, enjoying the sensation of weightlessness, before he swims back to Equius along the bottom of the sea, mischievously tugging at his ankle once he is close enough.]

[Normally it wouldn't be a good idea to tug on Equius' ankle when he's in the water, but he was watching Gamzee closely enough that he knows it's him. He looks down through the clear water and smiles at him.]

Seems the local goatfish population is increasing these days.
