[ Twilight fades into the darkness of evening, and a whole gaggle of trolls are up on the island to camp out for one very big reason.

One big, angry, honking reason.

But general terror of the Grand Highblood aside, they're still fairly functional in-so-much as trolls ever are. And that's where the shenanigans come in. ]

[Oh shit. Instinctively, Signless tries to hug Feferi, both for her sake and for his own. He doesn't want her to see how his hands are trembling.]

Did she hurt you? Are you all right?

[ Hugs. Hugs are good. She may just be clinging a little. ]

No! No, she didn't she... she saved me! From the Highblood, because I found him on accident, or he found me when I was looking for Sollux! And she said she was changed but I don't know, I don't know if I can trust her...

[Yeah, that's okay, he's clinging too. But he listens as she tells him about what happened, and as much as he wants to believe it's true, he just... he just can't. Every time he tries, he sees Psii, and what her Empire turned him into.]

[Oh fuck, Psii... that seals it for him, and his hands stop shaking.]

Feferi, listen to me. Listen to me well, because this is important. I don't want you to think about this, just tell me the answer that's in your heart, in your guts, in your bones.

When I was really little, I always thought that maybe when I met her, she would be really nice and she'd want to be my friend. But I'm older and I really have met her and...

[ It's almost like it hurts her to say it, especially since she was convinced for just a little while. But she can't bring herself to lie to him, either. ]

[It breaks Signless' heart when she tells him about her childish daydreams, and he hugs her tighter. Her answer, though, is exactly what he thought it would be.]

All right, then. I'll help you, little one, and we won't let her hurt anyone. Now, who else knows she's here? You, myself, the Grand Highblood... anyone else?

[ She nods, shallowly, and resumes her clinging. ]

As far as I know, yes, and also Lysunder. He contacted me before I came over here.

All right. Do you think she would have told Dualscar too?

[He's relieved that Summoner knows, and makes a mental note to contact him later.]

I don't know. It's possible, if she knew he was here, she might have contacted him. But I can't say for sure.

Okay.

[He pulls back a little, so he can look down at Feferi, and he manages a smile.]

Thank you for telling me, little one. You did the right thing, and I'll make sure she doesn't hurt you or any of your friends.

I don't want her to hurt you, either! Please be careful.

I won't let her hurt me. I promise.
