EVENT - VALENTINE'S DAY

◣ VALENTINE'S PARTY ◢

The host club's doors are closed for most of the morning, locals scurrying in and out with an odd flair to help set up for the big event. That sure is a lot of pink and red being carted inside. They must be going all out for this Zelos fellow. Who knows why.

Residents that wander around the plaza for any reason will find a local approaching them, hyping up some aspect of the party that might appeal to them. The lights, the music, the dancing! The chance for gossip! Here, if your date goes poorly, we'll treat you to a drink. If your date goes well, we'll treat you to a drink. If you just want a drink for the sake of it... hey, you get the picture! It's something for both the single and taken alike, and the people of the city seem to be more than happy reminding you of this fact whenever they can.

When it hits noon, all characters who have signed up for blind dates will receive an anonymous text. They will be wished a Happy Valentine's Day, congratulated on their upcoming date, and be asked to arrive at the host club between 5:30 and 6:00 pm. They will be given more instructions upon their arrival. And wear something flattering~! <3

On their arrival to the club, blind date participants will be given a mask to wear. Once they put it on (and ONLY when they put it on), they will be given a number and escorted inside. The tables are covered in tableclothes of varying shades of white, red, and pink, elaborate flower arrangements in the center. While you are waiting for your date, feel free to enjoy the berries and chocolates set at each table, all appropriately cut into hearts and fish.

The meal itself will be three courses - an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. The menus offered will be quite broad, noting quite well for allergies. Everything just seems to be very... pink. Even well-cooked meat and dark chocolate delicacies has been given a splash of decorative color in favor of the holiday. Is that candy on the top? Oh well. It doesn't look like a "CALL ME XOXO" heart will really kill you.

Masks will be difficult to take off until at least one course of food has been consumed. It seems like someone wants you to enjoy the spirit of your "blind date"!

A NOTE: The masks will block both identity AND, in some cases, a person's gender, until they are removed. Gender identification will be up to the players!

At 6:30, the club is opened for everyone else. Feel free to adventure up to the bar or glance around at the couples. They might be a little unrecognizable, what, with those strange masks on. They look so familiar, but you just can't place who is who. Oh well. Mingle a bit and solve the mystery with those around you! Have a drink. Talk about your love life or lack thereof. A bartender is always there to lend you an ear.

At 7:00, the tables are cleared, the lighting is dimmed down, music is turned up, and the center of the club becomes a dance floor! Plush red couches line the edges for those that have had a rough night, and small tables of chocolates, sweets, heart-shaped h'orderves and various colors of roses dot the area. Locals are working alongside the host club and maid cafe to make sure things are kept in stock. No getting close to the bar if you're under-aged or we may just have to end your evening right here and now!

[ Well.

This was odd. But the locals didn't try to take his book, but let him take that and the notes with him to the assigned a table after getting this mask on.

Duke will be reading here, assuming it was some sort of host club theme or something.

[Denzel has never been invited to anything in his in life and just the thrill of being invited was good enough for him that was until it dawned on him what this was for. He complains to the locals about being on the list and saying he did not sign up. Groaning Crocker decides as long as he's here he may as well have the food and the locals didn't look like they were going to let people leave so soon. Balancing the mask on his glasses proceeds to take a seat and as usual with his posture whether it was walking or sitting always seems to be slouching over. Crocker drums his fingers nervously and stares from behind his mask. Commenting to himself, in a bit of a higher pitch vocal voice that an usual man would have as he tries to remove the mask]

Why wouldn't this thing come off?!

[Any and all attempts fail as the mask acts as glued to his glasses. Crocker at one point just gives up.]

Why do we have to wear these things anyways?

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-15 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Duke hadn't actually read what he was in for, oops, since he sort of works here anyway. He blinks once at the drumming of fingers, but doesn't look up until the other speaks. ]

.... Likely some magic involved with event here. [ Despite the length of his hair, and apparently what quite a few people think upon seeing his coat, he has an awkwardly deep voice.

Duke studies the other for a moment. He can't quite tell male or female, but... that doesn't really mean much to him.
]

If ignore it, likely to fade with time.

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-15 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Crocker continues mumbling to himself] Must be more of this place's magic at - [There's a pause]

YES! [He exclaims] I think there is - ma.. sir. Ma.

[Needless to say the long hair with the deep voice was throwing Crocker off. Maybe it was a deep voiced woman!
Well maybe being trapped here wasn't such a horrible thing the other person apparently has Denzel's favorite subject going.]

Except I can't help but wonder what will make this go away. Mmmm. The coral power was at ninety- eight percert this morning... But then it doesn't make any sense for this to be a - CURSE!

[slighty jerking his body... Or does it? Mmmm the mysteries Vat!]
radiantwingedone: (Focus)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-15 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
[ Quite possibly. Duke is just that awkward, unfortunately. ]

Do not think it would last that long. Although if similar to usual curse, is it not unusual for it to start on a Thursday?

[ He's pretty sure they start at Sunday nights? ]

Do you recall a mark-glow? [ It would be somewhat worrying if the coral started changing patterns. ]

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-16 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes but then it is a - HOLIDAY! [slight spazz]

Perhaps holidays are expectations to the rule. [Not outside the realm of logic now is it?]

[There's a pause and Denzel goes wide eye behind his mask] I didn't check my tattoo yet.. [And he's not all things considered where his is...]

[Another beat] But like I said my coral magic reading device said the coral was at ninety - eight percent. [Another beat] Not that matters as the coral being at one hundred percent and strange things happening was broken last week with the communicator CURSE! But that's besides the point.

radiantwingedone: (Must have been quite a miracle)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-16 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
.... It could be. I do not recall a flicker of the mark myself, thus it is likely to be a smaller magic. [ And that doesn't particularly bother him. ]

Likely localized to the building or to the masks themselves. AS it is on, it is not something I would study myself.

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-16 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmm... Possibly. Which would mean this place has multitudes of magic which would make perfect sense! [You can't really tell but he's eye twitching for a moment or two]

[A short awkward pause] And what is something you'd study, mmm?
radiantwingedone: ([book] Returning to the text)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-17 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ Sorry that he's so rude, but Duke has turned his attention back to his book. ]

Currently, variations of ambient magic. If the effect was spread further - as a true curse - and random striking - say pick up keys, but cannot release them, but the milk you just poured was fine - would be more interesting.

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-17 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Denzel isn't offended. Actually if he had been lucky enough to have taken a book with him to dinner he'd be doing the same thing]

Yes, granted this is rather low level of magic for even I, [for some reason his name fuzzes out] usually study. [All things considered the magic where he's from]

But in order to understand the full multitude of this place that I possibly can. I've been trying to expand my learning in magic. Considering, I do have - FOREVER.
Since I was told you don't age here.

[ The placement in the name in that sentence doesn't really make it clear that it fizzled out, which could be fortunately. ]

... Would mean there is little point in keeping track, wouldn't it. [ He wonders if that would make him feel better about how old he is -

No, not really, he's still moderately old anyway.
]

Could attempt to teach, although would depend on your skill at math, and if I can get this project to work.

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-17 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
YES and no. I've been creating a tree if you will of all the magics. A tree of evolution in a sense. Yes.

Actually, I'm teaching Theoretical Science at the univeristy here. Not that science or math means anything with the presence of magic. To a degree anyways. [After Crocker knows enough in theory it's possible to apply some principles of science to magic. Also cue the crazy laughing]

[Prehaps at one point one of them will wonder if they're going to be served any food]
Edited 2013-02-17 00:50 (UTC)
radiantwingedone: (... Are you mocking?)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-17 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ Duke has the feeling his habit of chopping up his sentences has caused a problem here. ]

Perhaps with some forms of magic, that science or math means little. For the magic most familiar to me, it is bound and formed by a math formula, restricting what it can and cannot effect.

[ Although that crazy laughter gets a blink. If you start talking about world domination, Mr Masked Table-Sharer, he may have to see what he needs to do to get out. ]

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-17 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Denzel calms down from laughing like a complete crank before he groans. ]

I never said they where all the same. Does this magic you speak of have a name?

[Finally the appetizers arrive. Which startles Denzel for a moment]
radiantwingedone: (Default)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-17 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
... Magic. [ His tone is this flat because he's amused, honestly. He looks at the appetizers, sort of just blandly studying them.

He's not that hungry, sorry.
]

Mana manipulation, although it was formerly used upon Aer. [ Which sounds quite a bit like Air, but ah, oh well. ]

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-20 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but I meant - THAT!

[Looking at his food he was a tiny bit hungry but only a tiny bit so he chews his food in a slightly strange matter. Must be those disjointed teeth. At least his mouth is closed but he keeps moving his lips obsessively]

Air?
radiantwingedone: (Held incase)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-20 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Aer. It is the predecessor of mana on my world, have yet to find out if there are similar things for other magics.

[ He has been working on this, so he rests his hand on the table, and concentrates.

Small green firefly like lights float above his palm for a little bit, before he closes his hand and they go away.

The mask hides how pale he is. Aer isn't particularly good in visible concentrations.
]

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-20 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah forget eatting this was much more interseting. Denzel leans even further forward, his fingers clinging to the table edges.]

AMAZING! So, those where particles of the table?

[Wondering outloud if he's understanding this magic correctly]
radiantwingedone: (Focus)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-21 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
No-

[ Wait, now that he thinks of it... ]

It was not pulled from the table, but atmosphere. May have been fragments of table within it, may not have. Was simply concentrated enough to be visible, gathered from what could spare it.

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-02-21 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it was one or the other.

Yes that part I understood.

[There's a beat] So, you're able to manipulate the air around you based on the laws of - PHYSICS!

[Denzel pops out a pen from his shirt pocket and starts writing this down on a napkin]

So, in theory you could control these molecules from the air and with focus and know how, create a chair that wasn't there but could be if the proper molecules where built ontop of each other?
radiantwingedone: (Focus)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-02-22 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
... It is not air. It is something in everything that is confusingly called Aer. Similar to Mana, if have heard the description; the force in everything, living or former or never-had.

... and do not think physics condone meteors inside a building.

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-03-02 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[Terminology of other places. Laughing slightly crazy for a moment]

I never said anything about a meteor. I said a chair.

[Before peering over to a space where there was seemingly nothing with the nake eye] If you wanted too you could focus this mana or air to rearrange the molecules in that bare space and magically create a - CHAIR! Yes?
radiantwingedone: (Default)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-03-02 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Creation is not something that am particularly skilled with.

[ He could try. Somehow.

Maybe with the 'try to will it to be so' sort?

Excuse Duke as he tunes out the table and his dinner companion. He's trying to figure out how to make it work.

.... It may take him a little while, before he just gets the idea to 'color' the invisible surface he used when. So maybe its not really a 'chair' but... its a surface?
]

... Not wood though.

[personal profile] crackpotcrocker 2013-03-09 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, never mi-

[Denzel watches in silence the other on how they go about this. Before wide eyeing]

Ah ha!... It's a start... What is your area of expertise in this?
radiantwingedone: (Must have been quite a miracle)

[personal profile] radiantwingedone 2013-03-09 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Offensive. Am particularly good with area effect, and in fire, lightning, wind for elements.

[ So he's good at blowing things up. Oops? ]

Am a passable healer, so long as it isn't poisons or burns.
