[He's actually pleasantly surprised. He hadn't thought anyone else would take an interest in humans beyond random glimpses they've been provided. He runs his hand through his hair again, ears twitching as he offers her his arm shyly.]

Shall we, then...?

We shall!

[She scoops her arm around his, allowing him to lead the way.]

[That seems to relax him, and he does his best to keep his normally long strider a bit shorter for her sake. The restaurant he's thinking of is a bit further into the city than most of the plaza buildings are. Rather small, and sometimes hard to find, but that is Darkleer's specialty.]

[Soon enough, they're stepping into a little restaurant, most of the furnishings fairly simple. Darkleer goes to a small table in the corner, reaching to pull out her chair for her.]

[She quite enjoys the walk to the restaurant, especially being on his arm, and the silly little smile on her face might just give that away to anyone noticing.]

[They arrive, and she will take the proffered seat.]

Oh my, quite the gentletroll you are.

[It's... rather flattering for her to be so happy just walking with him. He won't admit just yet how it makes him melt.]

I try to stay my best.

[Taking a seat opposite of her, he gives a shaky smile.]

I was thinking of this kind of platter... It uses a type of spongy bread that you tear and use to eat various little samples of other dishes.

I think that sounds good. I confess I have no idea what they would have here, so how about you order for me?

[She gives him a genial smile, and then her eyes wander around taking in the ambiance of the cute little restaurant.]

Well... If you're sure. A little bit of everything, then.

[The server comes to them soon enough, and Darkleer places the order, along with what he'd like to drink. After he waits for Disciple to do the same and for the server to leave, he rubs one of his knuckles.]

I, ah, I have something for you. If you'd like it.

[She peruses the drink menu, finally settling on a rich black tea. Disciple then thanks the waiter and watches them leave, turning to smile at Darkleer once again.]

Oh do you now?

[She had come prepared as well, her gift was currently stowed in her side pocket.]

Yes.

[He spent quite some time on it! Well, that is somewhat normal for someone who takes as much pride in his work as Darkleer does. Still, for this, he paid even more attention than normal. He was never able to make anything for Psiioniic, but now he has a second chance at this moirail business. He wants to do things right. So he had checked everything twice, and then eight times more just to be sure.]

[He pulls the ring out from his sylladex, accompanied by a thin lovely chain set to the side.]

I thought in case you ever needed your fingers free, you could wear it as a necklace, if you wished.

[She takes the ring, admiring the sapphire stone set into it. Then, as she is examining it, she catches the hint of something more inside of the stone in a flash of of the light. Curious, she will hold it up even closer to her eye and angle it to better catch the ambient light. It is then that she can make out the intertwined signs set into the stone. Her expression changes to one of astonishment.]

This... This is beautiful! Darkleer, this is amazing!

[She keeps examining the ring, her eyes twinkling, before she finally reaches into a pocket to retrieve a small box.]

Mine is ready too, it may not as fancy as yours, but I hope you like it.

[Inside the small box she hands over to him is a pendant on a simplistic silver chain. It is in the shape of a circle, and imprinted with Disciple's leo symbol. As it is, it looks fairly store-bought. Upon closer examination he will notice a band around the outside of the circular pendant. It is coarse, black and sports an intricate braided-weave pattern. It seems she has wound the pendant with a braided length of her hair.]

[As she gushes over the ring, Darkleer bows his head humbly, even as a pleased blush settles over his face. He had been so hoping she would like it, even with the twist of anxiety that coiled in his stomach. This was the best option, he had thought so.]

[When she mentions something of her own, his ears twitch up sharply and he looks up as she passes him a small box. There's a bit of a confused glance sent her way before he opens the box. Unlike her, his own inspection is very quiet and careful, like most things he does. He very gently runs his finger along the hair.]

Thank you.

[As much as he tries to help it, his voice is still heavy with emotion.]

[Oh geez, seeing him all emotional puts a lump in her throat. She tries clearing it before she speaks.]

Yeah... I am just glad you like it...

[Disciple scratches at the back of her neck, bashfully, a pale olive blush evident on her face.]

[Just give him a moment, so he can tuck the amulet away in his pocket for later. He coughs into his fist before he speaks up again.]

While we obviously care about one another, I thought we could get to know one another better. Things we like to do, and such. It seems a bit... silly to carry through without that.

[She moves to put her ring away too... nope, wait, that is her putting it on her finger.]

That sounds like a good plan, yes. So, uhhh... how did you want to start, just take turns talking about ourselves? Or maybe start with mutual interests?

[Disciple: master of small talk.]

[Awww, his ears can't help but twitch as she puts it on her finger. But right, conversation.]

Perhaps taking turns, for now? If something interests us, then we can just go on whatever path we care to. Should I go first, or...?

[uhhh... Disciple, pick a subject: GO!]

We both like books, and presumably learning about things we do not currently know. I have been taking an interest in some of the other races that live with us, actually. In particular I have been reading about different styles of governments, cooking, and social relationships.

[Hey, it works for him! He's also been showing a bit of interest, although he notes it's not quite the same as hers.]

The humans, at the very least, certainly seem interesting. I don't think I've heard of a race that is so diverse and divided on so many things. I cannot say I have given much interest towards their social relationships beyond the familial, but I have been investigating their various styles of cooking. It helps to make meals more interesting back at my hive.

Yes, their cooking... Did you know they have thousands of varieties of desserts alone!? I cannot fathom where they got the time to come up with all of them. What I have been reading about families is quite enlightening too.

[And then there is a playfully impish smile spreading on her face, as she recalls something she read.]

She holds up her hand, showing off her be-ringer finger.]

That this makes us human-married?

[Yep, all there is to it. Completely.]

[Wait, human married, what. Darkleer stares at her for a moment, brow furrowed.]

I was under the impression human marriage was for the flushed quadrant. Besides, we couldn't be human married yet. At best we would be engaged. There's still paperwork to be filled out, and I believe a priest is required...

[She laughs.]

See? You know plenty about such things. I was simply teasing.

You are right, though... human marriage is a complicated affair, with religious leaders and governments getting involved. The humans may only have a flushed quadrant, but they really make up for it with unnecessary complications. I learned a bit about that when I was looking into adoption procedures but you already know that.

...Ah.

Well. I was quite aware of that.

[Really. Now shoosh and let him try and bury that.]

I agree. Humans call our quadrants complicated, but with us it is a simple matter, in my opinion. All parties simply agree to their feelings, and it is quite done with. No one but the Imperial Drone need get involved, and that is hardly an issue here.

The only reason I know much about anything when it comes to their romantic arrangements is because Gamzee and Equius seem quite taken with the idea of marriage themselves. They've exchanged rings, and such.

[Her laugh ends, but the smile stays on her face.]

Not an issue at all, really, yeah.

Oh they are? That is really cute! It is nice when the young ones can find a matespritship that really works. It is hard enough back home on Alternia, having to worry about all the outside factors. So how far are they going to go through the process? Are they looking for some sort of clergy?

I think they're both still waiting to go through with it entirely. They're still only barely seven, you know.

[A pause as the server comes back with their drinks, and Darkleer goes to add a bit of sugar to his coffee.]

Hopefully the city will be kind enough to them both.

Young, true, but it is nice that they are able to be so committed to each other.

[Disciple accepts her tea as well, opting for a little bit of creamer in place of her ususal milk.]

Well, curses or no, I think this place is a good place for the younger ones to grow up. It does not contain the... pressures one would normally be under back home. Besides, even if the city is not kind somehow, there is a wonderful troll I know who will watch over them to make sure they are doing well.

Equius doesn't even care to properly remember Signless' name, I highly doubt he'd care for his meddling.

[Because that's who she had to be talking about. Signless. Not him. That somehow slips his mind, even though he knows how tight of a family they are.]

[Taking a small sip of his coffee, he tilts his head to the side.]
