Well, curses or no, I think this place is a good place for the younger ones to grow up. It does not contain the... pressures one would normally be under back home. Besides, even if the city is not kind somehow, there is a wonderful troll I know who will watch over them to make sure they are doing well.

Equius doesn't even care to properly remember Signless' name, I highly doubt he'd care for his meddling.

[Because that's who she had to be talking about. Signless. Not him. That somehow slips his mind, even though he knows how tight of a family they are.]

[Taking a small sip of his coffee, he tilts his head to the side.]

He really looks up to you, you know, and worries about you. You cannot tell him I told you this, but he actually messaged me because he was worried, after my whole drunken admission thing. He wants you to be happy, I am sure he would not mind your so-called 'meddling'.

[Cooking would have to wait, for now. She was not ready to change subjects.]

[He actually looks a bit embarrassed when she corrects him, ears flicking down and tinted blue.]

Ah. Well, I try... He's going to be quiet smug now, after he pestered me incessantly to go to you.

I know you were, dear. It meant a lot that you showed up when you did. The hangover plus the possible repercussions of that drunken curse thing were putting me in quite a funk.

[She sighs, a bit wistfully.]

You mentioned cooking?

I'm glad I could help. Even somewhat.

[His hand inches across the table as if to touch hers before he pauses, unsure.]

Yes. I cook somewhat myself, if only because I'm the only one who really had to deal with my particular tastes before I came here.

I got into some general general cooking, myself. Moreso, though, Gamzee got me baking, and from there I started experimenting will all sorts of desserts and stuff. It is a really enjoyable, relaxing way to pass time, especially when you see the results of your work, either in the taste yourself, or in the eyes of those enjoying things you make.

So, what 'particular tastes' does Darkleer cook for in his spare time, then?

[After all, a good way to learn about someone was finding what sort of food they enjoyed.]

No meat. It's really the only reason I started to learn in the first place, as I didn't really trust anyone else with my food.

It's still a bit strange sometimes to know that there are others with the same preference.

I will have to look up some special recipes then. No meat, just for you.

Lysunder actually had me scared off meat for a little while. When I first learned about his communing, and that every beast I brought down he was right there for it as well, along for the ride.

[She shudders a little, even now.]

But, I honor the beast, like I always have, and use everything I can from it so it does not go to waste. Plus, I cannot help that meat is delicious...

I wouldn't know much on how delicious it is. [A shrug.] I haven't had any in decades. At least you aren't wasteful, then, which I am certain Lysunder appreciates. I think.. he has grown used to the idea.

Well, I like to make things for those I like, and I like you so... Well I will let you figure that one out.

Delicious varies, so I imagine at this point you would not find it such. I grew so accustomed while in the wilds so it something I find myself having cravings for at times. He cares for those beasts so much I do not think I could do anything but make the kills clean and merciful.

Talking about it now, I do recall having seen some cookbooks in the library that specialized in recipes you might like. I will have to check them out; Expect lots of taste-testing.

[The idea of someone making food for him seems almost novel. Usually, it's him doing the reverse. He can't help the slight smile that's starting to sneak onto his face.]

Oh, I assure you. You will be up to your horns in meat-free meals when I am done with you.

[Just as novel as her cooking for someone. Baking was one thing, but she has not really had the chance to cook full meals for someone.]

[He trails off as the server comes back, bringing in an enormous food platter with a kind of spongy bread beneath it. There's another plate full of the same kind of bread, only smaller and rolled up a bit in presentation.]

[Disciple was nodding as he was finishing his sentence, then she notices the server bringing the food. She was not really sure what to make of it, but vowed to try at least a little bit of all of it. I mean, you only live once...err wait. Vatheon sort of ruined that idiom. Hrmm...]

Oh my, it is certainly impressive looking. You said we tear parts of the bread to eat it with, right?

[Taking some of the rolled up bread, he tears off a small chunk that can fit between his fingers and then reaches up to pick some of the food up into it.]

It's a rather novel concept, I think. There's some meat, as well, since I thought you would like that.

I think I get it, thank you.

[Disciple takes some of the bread herself, tearing a piece off. She gathers up a little bit of one of things that look meat-like, and takes a bit. After a short bit a strange look comes over her face, and she begins groping for a water glass. She had managed to grab some spicy kitfo.]

[Oh dear... With one hand, he gives her a small glass. The other hand he's coughing into, and whoops... Does it sound a bit like muffled laughter? No, surely not. Shhh.]

[She gladly takes the proffered glass, and downs its contents. She lets out something of a sigh, her face was tinted olive from the increased blood-flow from the spicy food... or was it embarrassment?]

It was, uhh... [Small cough.]...spicy.

Not bad though, it just... caught me off my guard, is all.
