24 - Rogue

When: All week! Monday and Tuesday at intervvals but... just about any time day/night for the rest of the week o/

[ So Sunday had been a particularly bad day for Duke, although it did end up with him eating a bit more than usual because wow, it should not have been that easy for him to get knocked down-

But monday morning felt fine. Mostly because he got hit with the curse, and once again was able to sprout wings and... ignore any normal needs. Although he did find it a little harder to talk this time... Perhaps he was a different sort of angel? Still had a crystal... Oh well.

This mostly left him with a great deal more hours than he had for the past weeks, and so the ordo-Zel house is swiftly filled with the smells of apples and baking... Because if he remembers the days right, then this is close to that gift-giving holiday and...

He can't really think of much.

The problem with a full twenty four hours to spend doing something is that he ends up with way more apple pies than he has people he knows. Everyone Duke knows the name of gets 1(one) Apple Pie with 1(one) slightly magicked pie tin. The tin will keep the pies at a nice warm temperature, and will do this again if they are cooked in the pie tin. Something to do with "absorbing and storing heat from the oven and giving it slowly back over time", the note explains. Don't make cold pies in this tin, obviously.

This does leave a great deal of pies left over, and after some thought, Duke takes them to the plaza and the coral. This was newcomer time, wasn't it?

Now there's a table with pies, notes attached explaining "keep-warm pie tins", and a small paper sign proclaiming them as free apple pies. Yup. ]

(OOC: FEEL FREE TO FIND HIM DELIVERING PIES TO CHARACTERS WHO HE KNOWS. Just mention "christmas" or something in your tag and I will know it is his gift-giving o/ ANYONE CAN GET PIES FROM THE PLAZA...

It looks like it is! The plants look kind of new...

[When she entered into the kitchen, she raised an eyebrow at Duke.]

So...what are we going to make today? Cookies? Pies? Hm...do we even have enough ingredients for it?

Ah...if we don't, doesn't that mean we need to quickly go out and get some? We have to go back out again!

... [ Here. Have this cook-book, which Duke has helpfully opened to the deserts section already. ]

Pick something, then worry about ingredients.

Uh... [Oh wow, there's so many on here.]

Hm...I don't think I can just choose one! Let's see...

[As she flipped through the book, she eventually let out a sigh before dropping the book on the ground.]

There, we'll let the book decide for me!

[Eventually it does open to one page and it's.....!]

Chocolate cake huh? That shouldn't be too difficult to make! [Maybe]

[ Duke picks up the book and studies the page. ]

First, gather all is needed. [ Duke is taller than Bianca, so he'll go for the flour, then find all the measuring cups and mixing bowls from the recently cleaned area. ]

[And once Duke does that, Bianca quickly places them all in a place nearby]

But do we have all the ingredients? It seems like there's quite a lot here...do we have enough?

[ Duke studies all the containers, picking a few of the closed box-like ones up and giving them a little shake to test. ]

... After this, if wish to make more than basic recipe.

[ And back to the book. the pans are over... here... They can start the oven preheating later- ]

Take butter, use like grease along inside. [ One of these pans goes to Bianca, the other Duke will do as he directed. ]

Well...if we have enough then maybe we can make chocolate cookies later on!

[Because cookies are awesome okay? As she stared at the pans, she looked back at the butter. Hm...she grabbed one of the butter, she got one of the paper towels and greased it with the butter]

Like this? I wonder how much of it do we need to use...a little too much and it looks like it could be bad!

Just like using too much oil in cooking can be bad too!

... Not truly visible. [ He means that there shouldn't be any visible butter chunks, but that she should be able to tell its greased.

Here, he thinks he's doing it right. See how its shinier in places than others? ]

Hm...if it's like that...then it should be okay?

[Once she finishes greasing it down, she looked back at Duke]

And there, that should be enough! What next? Should we start the cake now?

[Can you see the look of happiness in her eyes? Because cakkkkeeeee]

Says to sprinkle a little flour on inside. [ If you don't mind, Bianca, Duke will do that part. ]

Take one cup and 3 quarters cup of flour into this bowl. Will add two cups sugar.

Just like that? [She narrows her eyes at the book]

It seems a little too easy if you ask me...[which is why she had a sneaking feeling that something was going to give.

With that, she did what Duke told her and added the cup of flours into the bowl and added the sugar]

Hm...I have a feeling that if someone were to ever eat this entire cake, they would have to exercise a lot! That's a lot of sugar right there!

[She let out a nervous laughter before looking at the bowl. Man, she's been so lazy about training her pokemon lately...]

... If following steps, is as easy as reads...

three quarters cup cocoa powder, one and half teaspoon baking soda, one and half teaspoon baking powder... [ Good, they're the same amount, less tricky this way. ]

One teaspoon salt. You mix those, will get eggs and milk, oil and vanilla ready.

[ In a smaller bowl, and carefully cracking the eggs first - so he can pick any shards of shell out now.. ]

Oh, that shouldn't be too hard if everything is just about the same! Let's see...

[She began adding some of the stuff to the bowl before looking back at the book.]

And then eggs and milk and oil...and vanilla...

[Pause]

Okay...I take that back, it's not that easy as it looks. But that's okay, you know why?

[Ahem!]

You can whistle while you work~

So hum a merry tune~

It won't take long when there's a song to help you set the pace~~♪

[ You can do that, Bianca. Duke won't be joining you in whistling while he measures out the liquid-y parts and starts mixing them. ]

Then add this to dry bowl. Mix until no dry pockets. [ He waited for a pause at least]

But yes, don't mind Bianca still humming whistle while you work as she continues to look at the book]

Okay then! [And off she goes mixing the stuff!] So far, everything really good! Just a couple more steps and everything will be okay!

[ He'll just watch as she mixes the two sets together-

and start the oven for preheating. That should be a thing he does.

... As well as get that water boiling. He may cheat with a bit of magic for that. Shush. ]

When cannot find any lumps, or powder, let me know.

[No cheating, Duke!

She looks at the boiling water before looking back at the older man. Hm...]

Well, I'm done but...what do you think?

[Honestly, there were still some lumps running around but over all...]

It's okay right?

[ Its not cheating, its using his resources wisely. It would have taken a boring while to boil the water normally.

Duke takes the bowl to study it. Hrmn. No big pockets. Little lumps are okay. And some of them were bubbles, which was fine. ]

Wish to slowly pour? [ He won't feel the hurt if she splashes him with the hot water while mixing it slowly in so- ]

[It's still cheating in Bianca's mind!]

Okay then, let's just...do this slowly... [Now this was where Bianca was starting to feel the pressure. If she did this wrong, then things will go horribly wrong!

You can do this! Just...pour it...slowly...okay good...]

[ Duke carefully uses that spoon to mix in that hot water, doing his best to keep his hand out of the way.

It wasn't much water, so it shouldn't take long. ]

[As steady as Bianca is, her grip on the bowl was starting to slip. Luckily though, there wasn't much left of the batter. When most of it was gone, Bianca let out a small sigh of relief]

Yay, we're almost done! We just need to bake it in and everything will be set! Once that's done....we can finally eat it and maybe share it with other people!

[Because hell yeah cake!]

[ Duke nods, checking the oven. ]

Set timer for 30 minutes.

[ He'll put the pans in the oven while she does that. ]

Okay, we'll just need to put it in!

[With that, she quickly set on the timer for 30 minutes!]

You know, everything is going great so far! I was worried that something might happen to the cake like if there was going to be too much water or oil...or any of that stuff! But I'm just glad that things are going well!

[And you know...not burning]

... Following directions tends to prevent too little or too much of anything..

[ Why are you worried? Duke is going to clean up the bowls now. ]

[Because Bianca is use to being clumsy, something is going to happen!]

I guess but...now we just wait to wait for the next 30 minutes...what are we going to do until then?

[She could walk around the house to see what's Zelda's house is like...or play with her pokemon too...]
