Is it that time of the month already?

...No, today is not the start of shark week.

The Station Master's taken precautions to make this month's mingle party nice and laid back, after that rather magnetic week. Today, locals are all over the Plaza starting to put up the decorations for this strange holiday known as "Christmas", and they're more than happy to cheerfully rope any foreigner who doesn't look too busy into helping them.

The food tables are back, albeit with more drink than food. Hot chocolate, ~~gluhwein~~ mulled wine, a huge bowl of fruit punch, you name it, it's there. Foodwise, there's snowflake shaped crackers with cheese and meats, shrimp cocktails, cups filled with green or red jelly, and plenty of cookies to go around.

Near the food tables are the two usual booths, one belonging to the Welcoming Committee, armed with all the information a newbie would want to know, and the other belonging to the Host Club, manned by all the male eyecandy you could ever need. Have they done something special for their booths this festive season? Better sashay their way and find out!

Walking around all the tables and booths is what looks to be a giant lobster(???) in a Santa suit handing out candy to anyone and everyone nearby. It seems the locals don't understand that it's "Santa Claus", not "Sandy Claws."

Finally, it looks like there's been a new addition to the plaza. Was that ice skating rink over there last night?? It certainly fits the theme, and the locals don't seem to be surprised. They'll even help you lace up those skates and take them for a spin. Bundle up and try not to fall too much!

Oh. It must feel nice...

[Well, she also understands the feeling of having a purpose... although hers was basically to be sacrificed for Einzbern's sake. Not exactly hero material.]

You had companions, right? Are any of them here with you?

[Talking about his "friends" from home wasn't exactly painful, but he didn't enjoy it either. It was a reminder of a somewhere he didn't want to be.]

No, they're not here. It's better for them if they never come here.

Why not? Isn't it nicer to be with people that you're comfortable with?

[It sounds like he doesn't really like these other people he knows. Even she thinks that that sounds kind of... sad.]

They have happier lives back home, being here would only make them miss that. I wouldn't wish such suffering upon them.

[He doesn't hate his friends, or what he can call them as friends, from home. The fact is he knows they're much better off and happier where they are.]

That's really nice of you. And you don't want the same for yourself, too?

[It seems kind of silly to her for someone to wish that for someone else and not happiness for himself, too. Or rather, she knows someone else like that, and she thinks he's very silly as well.]

Why yearn for something that you'll never obtain? That's ridiculous.

[He doesn't understand why she cares so much, then again she looks quite young so she probably doesn't have the experience yet.]

You don't think you'll ever be able to go back to where you came from?

[That's borderline cynicism in her opinion, to say the least, but she could respect that.]

Or do you think... that you'll never be happy?

Not that it's any of your concern, but how I live my life is my choice. If I want to believe in both of what you say, I'm more than free to.

[Wanting to drop the subject, he doesn't very much enjoy talking about himself and wants to move on.]

So tell me about your world and friends. Then answer me this, would you be happier if they were here or back at home?

[Maybe she had pushed the topic too far. He seems almost angry at her now, and she didn't mean for that to happen at all... not to mention that she doesn't really want to talk about herself, anyway.]

I... don't have any friends at home.

[And it didn't bother her before. As Einzbern's Master, she would have had to kill them anyway, right? But the events of the Fifth War had begun to spiral out of control, and she was forced into an unlikely alliance of sorts. Would Rin consider her as a friend? Probably not.

Her previously lively skating grinds to a halt, and she stares quietly at the ice. She won't tell him everything - some things are meant to be secrets.]

[He's not so much angry, but more irritated at the fact it seemed to be that she was trying to cut into his personal affairs.]

You're young, you'll find ways to make more friends. Perhaps you may find some here in this city.

[He sighs and skates in front of her, holding out his hand because seeing a girl sad is the last thing he wants.]

Why don't we do something to cheer you up? Come on.

[She looks up from the ground and stares at his hand for a moment, a little unsure how she should take this gesture.]

You're... not mad?

[She asks to be sure. It would be nice to get along with other people, now that she isn't obligated to kill whoever she meets.]

[While yes, he's still slightly irritated, there's a shrugging off of feelings and acts like it doesn't bother him.]

Seeing a lady sad was not my intentions and I apologize for being sour with you prior. So no hard feelings between us, all right? Besides, it's rather ridiculous being sour over a silly subject.

[She looks up at him, quietly debating with herself for a few moments, before taking his offered hand with a smile. He did say sorry, after all.]

Okay! If you say so.

[It then strikes her that, even after this conversation, she doesn't know his name. So, she decides to introduce herself first, curtsying gracefully despite being on skates.]

I'm Ilyasviel von Einzbern, but you can call me Ilya. How about you?

[He bows in return to her curtsy and gives her a warm smile, have to put up appearances for the ladies after all.]

The name's Angelo.

Angelo?

[She repeats the name with a slight taste of curiosity, before giving him a smile.]

It's a pretty name! I like it.

I'd say your name is more beautiful, Ilyasviel. Oh excuse me, I mean Ilya.

[He doesn't have any real fondness for his name.]

But thank you, I appreciate your kindness.

It's okay if you want to call me Ilyasviel! Don't worry.

[Well, Saber does that. Although she does like Ilya better...]

And it looks like you're skating pretty well now, right? You haven't fallen down for a while, at least.

[This realization comes with a slight sense of satisfaction on her part, since she did help with all that somehow.]

If you insist, I find your full name to be very beautiful when spoken.

[He's hit with the realization when she brings it up, a smile appearing on his expression.]

Ah so it would appear, I must be a natural born talent.

[Almost no one ever says her name is pretty, so Ilya's happily surprised. Most people tend to say it's too hard to pronounce...

Looking at Angelo on his skates, she smiles and loops around him once before coming back to face him again.]

See? You just needed a pointer here or there, right?

[He stops skating and looks around at the other skaters, his legs are also getting a bit tired out.]

If only we were off the ice, I could do more. I'm a bit nervous trying to do a flip on the ice.

Do you want to go sit down, then? I'm feeling tired too...

[Because skating around for this long is kind of hard on her small body, after all. And she wants to see Angelo flip.]

Yes, I believe we should take a break.

[He starts skating back towards to the resting area.]

[Ilya follows, skating along with visibly less energy than before but still rather enthusiastic overall.

Seeing a bench over at the edge of the rink, she skates up next to Angelo and points.]

How about there?

[There's a nod from Angelo before he heads over to where Ilya suggested they sit down at.]

I wonder how long this will last.

[Ilya looks out at the rink - the crowds are starting to clear up, and it's looking emptier.]

I guess it's getting late, so people are leaving...

[Well, everyone else must be getting tired, too.]
