Normally this particularly part of the plaza lays a little quiet and secluded but today there is a difference. The otherwise quiet spot is bustling with activity today, and shall be every first of every month from now on. It sure was a bit of trouble preparing all of this, but no effort was spared. It is for a good cause, after all!

The set up, though fairly simple, has clearly been aimed at making things comfortable for those attending. Broad tables filled with food and drink (and a few locals attending to them to make sure they won't run dry) stand amongst small tables, perfect for a few people to gather around and enjoy the delicacies. Some chairs and benches have been set up too, for those that'd rather sit while talking, but there is still plenty of space for walking around too. Beyond that, there stand at least two booths, one manned by the Welcoming Commitee, armed with replacement flyers, maps, hotel directions and anything a person new to Vatheon might need. They certainly look ready to answer any question that someone might have and then some. The other booth seems just as welcoming, though perhaps a little less on the informative side. This one is manned by Vatheon's very own Host Club. Are they recruiting? Trying to find new customers? Or just here to do their part in welcoming new people to Vatheon? Better check it out and be certain.

Today, the party seems to be dressed up with a rather obvious autumn flair. The tables, chair, benches and table-cloths are dominated by warm, fall colours, and all the food that stands on the tables has a very definite fall flavouring; apple and pumpkin pies stand side by side, with caramel apples near by and what looks to be a mass of cookies. But there are soups too, warm and hearty for those that want them. And lets not forget the drinks. The locals are tireless in refilling the cups so there is never anyone lacking some warm tea or warm chocolate, cider, or just plain old apple juice. Ask and you shall most definitely receive!

[Her facial expression remains impassive, And she starts to advance on Zelos. Evidently this particular vampire is indeed upset with your choice of outfit, though perhaps not for the reason you might imagine.]

Your collar is a bit messed up. Let me just... fix that for you.

[She's reaching out for his collar with one hand while the scissors stay with the other by her side.]

Woah woah! Hold on! It's supposed to be like that!

[He's just gonna lean away a bit.]

I saw it in an Earth book! It's supposed to be ridiculous!

[He thinks.]

[Her advance is held back by your argument. She seems a bit incredulous.]

...Really.

No! I mean yeah! Seriously! Look!

[You got him all flustered coming at him with a pair of scissors! Geeze. He shakes his head to try and center himself again as he pulls an illustrated kids book he got from the library out from behind the table. Sure enough, on the page marked 'Halloween' there are several cartoon drawings, one of which is a completely dorky vampire with a ridiculous collar.]

[Well, now that you've gotten her interest, the scissors are going away, stuffed into a pocket. Kanaya takes a good look at the book.]

Huh. So these are meant to be silly costumes?

[She takes a moment to think on that. Technically, She was responsible for creating Earth, along with Karkat. She had to wonder just a bit if this was a sign of her influence on that creation. Either way it's an amusing fact.]

Is this from the library? I have a friend that I kind of want to [~~take this and rub it in his face~~] show this to.

Feel free! Just make sure you return it to me or them so I don't get hunted down by the book police. And yeah, silly seems the way to go. I read in there that the costumes used to try and be scary to ward off the souls of the dead or something like that but I don't see how something like this collar is scary in the slightest.

[He has much more intangible fears.]

I don't really see it as scary as much as... offensive. In a fashionable sense, that is. I just can't stand to see capes with collars, especially ones for ostentatious as that.

[The core subject of a long debate she's been having with that friend of hers, in fact. This book should provide ammunition for a new assault on his fashion missteps. But she's willing to overlook it if Zelos is intentionally aiming for some sort of ironic statement.]

Well that's sort of the point of costumes is they don't have to suit you, but for the sake of argument what do you think I should wear~?

[He likes dressing up too much to pass this opportunity.]

[She's giving Zelos another look, thins one calibrated with the eye of a designer. she thinks for a long moment before saying anything.]

You're slightly too short for most male models, but you have a build that can work with a very wide variety of clothing. You have a tendency to overdress, choosing outfits that are a bit too ostentatious for my tastes, but I will concede that they match your personality. You could make quite a statement, especially with those that know you, with a a very simple outfit. Grunge subculture wear wouldn't be bad, but I would suggest avoiding anything too punk like. You're usually too cheerful to do a Dark-And-Brooding look, but if you could adopt the attitude I think you could look amazing. I've noticed you usually wear vests and short sleeves, that's good. You have fine definition in your arms and should show that off, so keep away from those long gloves you like so much. If you were inclined I think you'd be able to pull off women's wear quite easily, but I understand that some cultures have too much of a taboo about such things.

Overall you have quite a bit of space to explore beyond your normal wear, should you choose. I might have to put something together for you.

[It takes Zelos a moment to process all that at once, some of the fashion words not ones he'd heard before thanks to otherworldly custom, but if she thinks certain things would look good and more importantly would have fun with it, then what's the harm?]

Heh, I guess I do overdress! Comes with being a noble, y'know? But if you wanna try and of that on me, I don't mind being a dress-up doll for awhile~

[Except for the women's wear. That's not gonna fly.]

That would be fun, really. You should stop by my shop sometime and we'll see what we can do. I've been playing around with the fashions of earth quite a bit lately. They've done more with the textile arts than I ever imagined possible, and some of it is quite interesting.

[Oh, come on Zelos, where's your sense of adventure?]

[Adventure is one thing, manly legs on display under a skirt? That's an entirely different thing that pretty much no one wants to see ~~even if he does wax his legs on occasion. Don't judge.~~]
