[If any Vatheonite takes the time today to take a look around the castle, they will find a very, very grumpy fairy godmother fluttering around.

Look, it's Carol, in full-costume and fluttering her wings and looking very sour indeed.]

Play along, he says. Grant wishes, he says. Ugh!

[She looks like she might snap that wand, oops. But she's also fluttering next to a crude, poorly done sign that says Quests for heroes!

...Maybe she'll give you a quest if you go talk to her?

Sleeping Beauty | Open

[A boy with long, long hair sits faithfully by his friend Sleeping Beauty (usually known as Guy). He's been told that a kiss might wake Guy up, and so he's waiting patiently and guarding Sleeping Beauty from any other potential dangers for the time being. Both of them are now near the fairy godmother that gives out quests.]

[Zelos had mentioned the castle not too long ago, but at the time Lloyd had had other things to take care of, so the two of them had split up. Now, though, he's come to see if there's anything he can discover, or any way he can help those suffering from the curses that seem to overshadowing the whole realm. As a Knight of the realm, it's his duty to aid where he can.

As he enters the castle, his steps slow when he passes what looks to be a young girl seated next to an older boy. The boy is fast asleep. Something about the picture seems... wrong.

Why is he sleeping in here? His brow furrows and he stops to address the girl.]

Is everything all right?

[fonmaster]

[Ion shakes his head sadly.]

Sleeping Beauty won't wake up.

[The Fon Master looks like he feels personally responsible for this, and he does. If he was a proper hero or prince, Guy would be awake right now, wouldn't he?]

[Lloyd's expression becomes serious at this news. He steps forward, pulling off a glove before reaching for Guy's wrist to feel for a fever and check his pulse.]

Is he sick? How long has he been like this?

[fonmaster]

[Guy isn't sick, only sleeping. Ion looks away.]

As long as I remember, he has slept. I was told that a hero can wake him with a kiss.

[Why is it that Ion can't remember Guy being awake? He considers him a friend, so they must have spoken at some point...]

[As far as he can tell, Guy feels perfectly healthy. His pulse is slow and steady, what he'd expect from someone asleep. He frowns and looks up.]

Only a hero...? Then he must be under a curse. Dammit, whoever the witch or wizard is responsible for all of this, they need to be stopped!

[A slight pause. An awkward glance.]

What kind of hero does he need?

[fonmaster]

[Ion looks a little afraid when Lloyd mentions stopping the witch or wizard. He doesn't want people to have to fight!]

Ah, umm...

[redcladidealist]

[...why are you not telling him what kind of hero Guy needs to wake up? Lloyd's brow furrows again as he looks at Ion more closely. Is it just his imagination, or does the girl seem suddenly nervous?]

You said someone told you. What else did they say?

[fonmaster]

[Now he is nervous. He can't entirely remember what it was the huntsman told him.]

I-I don't remember. My mind is a little hazy, I'm sorry. All I know is that the people who have tried so far have failed.

[redcladidealist]

[It feels like he has pieces of a puzzle in his hand. A man under a curse, a girl at his side, stammered explanations that don't explain at all, and a nervousness that doesn't seem to fit. Why is she so afraid of Lloyd asking questions about how to help?

Unless...

An uneasy suspicion worms into his gut.]

Were you there each time someone tried?

[fonmaster]

[Ion perks up. There's something he can answer! He nods eagerly.]

Yes, I was!

[redcladidealist]

[It's still only a suspicion, but it's just as he thought.]

Maybe someone should take him somewhere else to try.

[He's watching you, Ion, waiting to see how you react to the suggestion of someone taking Guy out of range.]

[fonmaster]

[With alarm, of course.]

Somewhere else...? Wait, you mean away from me? No!

[What if something happens to Guy? What if someone tries to take advantage of him?!]

Redoing like you wanted :p

[Sola walks up with purpose. He's completed several smaller tasks around the city, but he can't help but feel there are other matters that need his attention and when he'd heard of someone in the castle who could help, he immediately made his way there.

He looks very much the same, only in the trappings of a Hyrulian knight. It takes him a few minutes to recognize the girl with the abnormally long hair.]

Ion?! I thought you said you were a boy!

You know it's better this way.

[fonmaster]

[Ion looks up. Sola's appearance reminds him that he is, in fact, male.]

Sola! I, ah, I am, but the curse seems to have put me in a dress...

[He looks up at his friend hopefully.]

Did it make you a hero? My friend here is asleep, and only the kiss of a hero will wake him up.

[replicatedcourage]

U-uh, I think so, I'm a knight at least.

[Wait...]

A kiss?!

[fonmaster]

I-I know. It's... it's a little weird. But he's my friend...

[Hey, Ion did it. You can too, Sola!]

[replicatedcourage]

W-well... if it's for your friend...

[He scratches his nose.] Maybe if it works on him it'll work on Izaya too?

[fonmaster]

Maybe so. I can't navigate the city how it is now, or I would have tried to awaken Izaya as well. I hope he's alright...

[Ion looks determined as he steps out of the way. Sleeping Beauty is all yours, Sola.]

[Blushing dark, Sola steps towards the bed and leans over Guy's slumbering form. He'd... never kissed anyone before. He knew how in theory, you just press your lips together, and you're just supposed to do it with someone you like. He'd never seen this person before in his life, was it really okay?

Yes his knightly intuition whispers. It's your duty.

Slowly, Sola leans over and lays a gentle kiss on Guy's lips, pretending it's not the lips of this stranger but Zelda's lips instead.]

[fonmaster]

[Ion watches the proceedings carefully, disappointed when Guy does not awaken. Sola reminded him of Luke, he was so sure that Sola would be the proper type of hero to wake Guy up.]

It didn't work, did it? I'm sorry...

[replicatedcourage]

N-no! It's fine. We had to try, right? [He smiles, though there's something a bit off about it. He feels like he's done something wrong and has the inexplicable urge to run.]

I have to keep trying to find princesses and stuff, um... do you need anything, though? I don't really want to leave you alone, unprotected.

[fonmaster]

[Ion shakes his head. His ridiculously long hair makes the movement quite dramatic.]

I am safe here. Please don't worry about me. I'm used to staying still while other people go out on missions. It's better this way, right? I would get tired if I went with you.

[replicatedcourage]

If you're sure... but if you need anything, use the SFC okay? Just don't you fall asleep too. [He puts a hand on Ion's head, implying he doesn't want to have to try kissing him too!]

[fonmaster]

I won't!

[Ion smiles brightly. It's the only proper way to see someone off, after all.]
