24 - Rogue

[ So Sunday had been a particularly bad day for Duke, although it did end up with him eating a bit more than usual because wow, it should not have been that easy for him to get knocked down-

But monday morning felt fine. Mostly because he got hit with the curse, and once again was able to sprout wings and... ignore any normal needs. Although he did find it a little harder to talk this time... Perhaps he was a different sort of angel? Still had a crystal... Oh well.

This mostly left him with a great deal more hours than he had for the past weeks, and so the ordo-Zel house is swiftly filled with the smells of apples and baking... Because if he remembers the days right, then this is close to that gift-giving holiday and...

He can't really think of much.

The problem with a full twenty four hours to spend doing something is that he ends up with way more apple pies than he has people he knows. Everyone Duke knows the name of gets 1(one) Apple Pie with 1(one) slightly magicked pie tin. The tin will keep the pies at a nice warm temperature, and will do this again if they are cooked in the pie tin. Something to do with "absorbing and storing heat from the oven and giving it slowly back over time", the note explains. Don't make cold pies in this tin, obviously.

This does leave a great deal of pies left over, and after some thought, Duke takes them to the plaza and the coral. This was newcomer time, wasn't it?

Now there's a table with pies, notes attached explaining "keep-warm pie tins", and a small paper sign proclaiming them as free apple pies. Yup. ]

(OOC: FEEL FREE TO FIND HIM DELIVERING PIES TO CHARACTERS WHO HE KNOWS. Just mention "christmas" or something in your tag and I will know it is his gift-giving o/ ANYONE CAN GET PIES FROM THE PLAZA...

The teen stood there, with his own pie in hand, a little gift tag on it with Duke's name written across it.]

Uhm. Some one said you were here so I figured I'd come give this to you.

[ Is he a little more dull sounding? Accurate. He doesn't mind though-

Pie. His name? ... for him? ]

[ As he indicates who this pie is for, he offers it. ]

Oh. Curse stuff. Gotcha.

[Plenty of that going around. Demon!Maka, Rat!Kid, Jade without her dog ears, Pony!Bon... the whole Villa is a damn menagerie of weird.

Rin's also cursed, but his isn't as evident - all that seems to be different about him is a set of bandages on his tail.]

[ Duke only absently connects bandages to injuries, but.. not right now. ]

Made a great deal. [ He might as well give some to all of the people he knows... ]

Looks pretty awesome. I hope you like mine! I'm still learnin' things about bakin' but I've gotten pretty good at pies lately.

Pie tin traps heat from baking time, keeps contents warm. [ W h i c h is probably why it smells far more wonderful than a pie made... some time previous should. ]

[Rin lifts the pie up high enough that he's looking at the underside of it (like he can see the magic or something. Dork.) sniffing a little.]

... wow. Awesome!

[ That's how Duke reads that action, at least! ... oops? ]

... oh. Actually I was smellin' the pie. ... yeah that was... weird. I'unno why I did it like that.

[He sniffs again, though, blinking a few times.]

Now that you mention it, there is kinda... somethin' different about it.

[Maybe he can? He is a demon, after all... and one who isn't really sure of his full capabilities yet.]

[ Okay, lets try something then-

Duke increases the density of his swirling-mana. the stuff he uses to help him know what's about.

Does something else smell funny, Rin? ]

[At first nothing seems to change, but a few seconds pass and Rin wrinkles his nose.]

... that's so weird...

[ He returns the concentration to a very thin one. ]

No one can really... do magic like you can back home, so I guess I never had a way to test that or whatever. Still, kinda cool.

[Oh the joys of being new to demonhood - learning all your weird little powers.]

May have to speak to others with magic, and find out if applies to others.

[It would be nice to know if he had any other abilities, aside from the ones he was already clued in on.]

It's not really a strong smell either... kinda like candles burnin'.

Probably! I mean demons smell different, too... stronger the demon stronger the smell.

[Usually. Mephisto was probably one of the exceptions to that, but he had many ways of keeping himself hidden. Ways Rin couldn't even begin to imagine.]
