vatheon | Dashing through the snow

Fai had already gone up ahead and made all the necessary preparations. A battlefield had been marked out in an open area. Out of bounds areas were set up that housed the tents for making snow cones, as well as bleachers that could be considered safe from the war that was about to take place.

With the help of Nepeta, piles of snowballs and snow forts were already prepared for the days festivities. And in case anyone got too chilled, a tent with a heater was set up to take away some of the edge of those icy temperatures.

There was a light snow that continued to fall even though the sun was out, helping to take a little bit of the bitter coldness away. It was the perfect weather to have a snow ball fight! All that it needed was the participants and the spectators.

On a board by the field, the teams are posted for all to see. Armbands of blue and red are displayed and ready for the team members to take and put on.

That is an option I've considered. I'd rather it was me keeping an eye on you then risking you trying to hurt any of the people I've brought up here.

[ He glanced over Fai's attire looking for the silver pigeon that Johnny would have used to mark his friends as just that. ]

But I don't think Addy would approve.

I'm sure he won't, but it doesn't look like he'll have much of a say in it right now. [Fai just had to be careful..]

If I didn't know better I'd think you would enjoy this.

Oh believe me, there are a good many things I'd rather be doing. [Fai smiles but it's hardly sincere.]

I would prefer you didn't. I'm pretty selective in who I let kiss me. That before was out of my hands.

That's a shame really.

[ Barry smiled just as sweetly. ]

I wouldn't mind kissing you again.

[ Not that Johnny would allow it and it would only be to pester Johnny anyway. ]

Though somehow I doubt it has much to do with me and more about Johnny.

Do you doubt yourself that much? I can see why Addy would be attracted to you.

I suppose you could call it doubt. [But its a whole lot more then that.]

Johnny isn't attracted to me. He cares for his family and that is what we are.

I'm the only family Addy has.

You're wrong. A family protects, cares for and supports. All you do it hurt him.

[ Barry's eyes narrow slightly. ]

Everything I do is for him. I'm the only person who truly loves him whether he understands that or not.

If you loved him you wouldn't do those things to him. You wouldn't hurt the people he cares for. You'd support him in what he decides for himself.

You'll never understand what actual love of a person is. You love like he is an object, something to possess and keep for your own. Part of real love is letting them do what makes them happy.

[Fai talks as if he knows but really he knows nothing of love. He believes he doesn't deserve to be loved and doesn't feel he'll ever actually experience it before he dies. But he understands the concept and Barry definitely doesn't fit into that description.]

[ Barry takes a several steps towards Fai to close the distance between them. ]

You don't understand love.

Tell me Fai, do you know what love really is? Not the kind they speak about but a true all encompassing love for a person? The kind where you'd do anything for them? Do you fully comprehend what you're saying?

[ Barry didn't know Fai's own self doubts, but he knew his own convictions and Fai was wrong about him. ]

[Fai doesn't retreat. As much as he would like to run he holds his ground. He stares at Barry with more confidence then he actually feels.]

I've never known love. But I've seen it. Love that can transcend time and worlds. If you really loved him, why would you hurt him like you do? Can't you see that he doesn't love you back.

[ Barry's eyes narrowed dangerously then. Those words hit home in a way nothing else would and he had to force himself not to run a hand straight through Fai then and there. He could imagine it though, the way Fai's blood would look as it spilled across the snow. ]

Seeing and experiencing are not the same thing little one.

[Fai wouldn't die so easily even if Barry couldn't hold back. That vampire blood would keep him living and luckily he still had that god power at his disposal if he had to defend himself. But that didn't mean he wanted to test his luck. Unfortunately, what was said was said..]

Even without experiencing it, I believe I understand it better then you ever will.

Belief is a fragile thing. It's easily shattered, and I wonder if you really have the conviction to keep it from breaking.

He choose us over you. That tells me enough.

That was a mistake.

[ Though how Barry could go about rectifying that mistake without losing Johnny was something Barry hadn't figured out yet. ]

Only you see it that way. If you love him so much then tell me why you do what you do. Why do you hurt him?
