Monthly Mingle Log
Is it that time of the month already?
...No, today is not the start of shark week.
The Station Master's taken precautions to make this month's mingle party nice and laid back, after that rather magnetic week. Today, locals are all over the Plaza starting to put up the decorations for this strange holiday known as "Christmas", and they're more than happy to cheerfully rope any foreigner who doesn't look too busy into helping them.
The food tables are back, albeit with more drink than food. Hot chocolate, gluhwein mulled wine, a huge bowl of fruit punch, you name it, it's there. Foodwise, there's snowflake shaped crackers with cheese and meats, shrimp cocktails, cups filled with green or red jelly, and plenty of cookies to go around.
Near the food tables are the two usual booths, one belonging to the Welcoming Committee, armed with all the information a newbie would want to know, and the other belonging to the Host Club, manned by all the male eyecandy you could ever need. Have they done something special for their booths this festive season? Better sashay their way and find out!
Walking around all the tables and booths is what looks to be a giant lobster(???) in a Santa suit handing out candy to anyone and everyone nearby. It seems the locals don't understand that it's "Santa Claus", not "Sandy Claws."
Finally, it looks like there's been a new addition to the plaza. Was that ice skating rink over there last night?? It certainly fits the theme, and the locals don't seem to be surprised. They'll even help you lace up those skates and take them for a spin. Bundle up and try not to fall too much!

I'm glad.
[He stands, wobbling a bit. He'd hold out a hand to help her up, if he didn't think that would just result in his butt saying hello to the ice again.]
Sorry about that. I'm still pretty new to skating.
no subject
This way they could skate together.]
How about we act as balance for one another? Skating is really fun once you get the hang of it!
no subject
That sounds pretty good!
[He grins.]
Are you ready?
no subject
I'm ready if you are. [Jane puts one foot forward to get ready to move.]
no subject
I'm ready!
[There's no hesitation when he puts a foot forward and pushes off, possibly pulling Jane along, if she wasn't expecting him to pull so early.
OOC: Sorry for the late tag! Christmas busyness hit me. If you want to handwave with 'And then they skated around and had some mishaps and then exchanged names' rather than continue, I'm cool with that :>b]
no subject
You're doing better!
ooc: no worries! haha. i was busy during this time as well and i dont mind finishing!
no subject
Thanks. I wouldn't be doing so good without your help.
[His voice is warm and friendly as he speaks.]
Have you done this before?
no subject
[She definitely feels comfortable around him.]
You haven't?
no subject
It doesn't get cold enough for ice in Colony 9.

It's my home. It's built on a lake, so it would be great for skating on, if it ever got cold enough.
no subject
Ah, that sounds like a beautiful home. My home is just in a very suburban area of Washington.
no subject
What do you mean by 'suburban area'?
[Suburbs aren't exactly a thing in his world.]
no subject
I mean like an area with a ton of houses, and a lot of domesticated life.

Shulk makes a sharp turn to the left, not knowing whether Jane will be going in the same or opposite direction to avoid the local.]
no subject
Whew! That was a close one.
no subject
Glad we avoided that one!
[Unlike their own collision, heh. Oh, but he just realised something.]
I'm Shulk, by the way.
no subject
I'm Jane. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier.
no subject
Nice to meet you, Jane.
[Oh yeah, since she seems to be better than him in skating...]
By the way, do you know how to stop quickly? I didn't have the chance to learn before I crashed into you.
no subject
Basically you turn your skate like that and just press harder into the ice.
no subject
Like this?
[And he skates of a short distance off before coming back, mimicking what she'd done. Luckily, it doesn't end in disaster, and he does actually manage to stop, though he's a bit wobbly on the finish.]
