Monthly Mingle Log

Is it that time of the month already?

...No, today is not the start of shark week.

The Station Master's taken precautions to make this month's mingle party nice and laid back, after that rather magnetic week. Today, locals are all over the Plaza starting to put up the decorations for this strange holiday known as "Christmas", and they're more than happy to cheerfully rope any foreigner who doesn't look too busy into helping them.

The food tables are back, albeit with more drink than food. Hot chocolate, gluhwein mulled wine, a huge bowl of fruit punch, you name it, it's there. Foodwise, there's snowflake shaped crackers with cheese and meats, shrimp cocktails, cups filled with green or red jelly, and plenty of cookies to go around.

Near the food tables are the two usual booths, one belonging to the Welcoming Committee, armed with all the information a newbie would want to know, and the other belonging to the Host Club, manned by all the male eyecandy you could ever need. Have they done something special for their booths this festive season? Better sashay their way and find out!

Walking around all the tables and booths is what looks to be a giant lobster(???) in a Santa suit handing out candy to anyone and everyone nearby. It seems the locals don't understand that it's "Santa Claus", not "Sandy Claws."

Finally, it looks like there's been a new addition to the plaza. Was that ice skating rink over there last night?? It certainly fits the theme, and the locals don't seem to be surprised. They'll even help you lace up those skates and take them for a spin. Bundle up and try not to fall too much!

[She wasn't sure, but it felt like there was some abnormal prana signature coming from this man here. One that was only Servant-level. But... Servants were all supposed to be in the Throne of Heroes if they weren't summoned in the war, weren't they? Then again, she didn't really have an idea of where this place really was.

That was probably a little disconcerting. Or it probably should have, but it honestly wasn't exactly the first thing on the girl's mind at the moment.]

You could probably ask some of those local people. [Ilya gestured over to some of the people around who looked like they were helping people with skates.] I was going to do that. Do you want to come with me?

[Fun was strictly off-limits. He was determined to be stoic and statue-esque without any trace of happiness to speak of... Though, Ilya was unnervingly nice looking and even Berserker was inclined to admit that the attitude itself was a bit infectious. How to gently turn her down? Or rather, try.]

Actually, I would prefer not to, miss. I thank you for the offer, though--I'm afraid I would be a bit of a depressing sight to see in the middle of such a cheerful crowd.

[Well, wasn't he a party pooper? Ilya tilted her head slightly with a small frown. She was rather displeased with the man's unwillingness to join in on the festivities, but she tried not to let it on too much. Adopting the confused look would probably work better in this case, wouldn't it?]

But everyone else could help you to be happier, right? Isn't sitting here by yourself a little too lonely?

[Of course, it could just be this man's particular taste. The girl did wonder who this man could be, to be this down in a time of cheer. Even she was a little happier than usual, although that wasn't something that she expected anyone else to be able to tell. Maybe it was the winter activities. She did love those...]

Loneliness suits me.

[He replied stiffly, attempting to take reigns on himself. At the very last moment, he was certain that Saber letting him rest on her at the very moment was forgiveness that could have been translated to accepting that he was still a knight--so, in return he was supposed to behave like one. All he really felt like doing was watching to see if anyone hurt themselves--in which he would happily help.

Otherwise, fun was totally off of the menu.]

I do not mind simply watching.

[He definitely seemed perfectly content to be lonely, but she had been lonely once, too. She knew what it was like. She knew about locking herself into her own little corner of the world and trying to say that it was all right... although if he was truly okay with this arrangement, she wasn't one to butt into it either.]

Are you sure? You should get out there before you regret it.

[Besides, he might say loneliness suited him, but loneliness was not enjoyable. He even looked rather sad...]

I've seen enough winters to know how it feels. [All the same, he was the sort of man who felt a rush only in certain situations--none as placid and relaxing as ice-skating. Lancelot could scarcely relax when he'd seen how freshly spilled blood could melt patches of ice rather quickly.]

I don't believe I'll worry too much, miss. Though, it's kind of you to try.

[She frowns slightly. Well, it's not really her place to comment on what someone else chooses to do, though it seems like this guy could use a bit of happiness in his life.]

I've seen lots of winters too! There are really long winters at home. But this place seems different from that. Is this place similar to what it's like at your home?

[There's also not as much snow. That's definitely different from what she's used to.]

[personal profile] of_the_lake 2012-12-10 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
This place? [The question itself amused him. Maybe she meant that it was a normal 'city' or because of the weather. He'd be kinder than usual in just taking her question at its most innocent iteration. Underwater bubbles should have been a new thing for everyone, Heroic Spirits included.]

I'm not entirely sure what area it's called now, but I used to live in a rather cold-weathered place.

Me too! It was snowing a lot outside, and I don't really like the cold so I would be indoors... but when it was nice outside I would go and see the snow! It was really pretty in the forest.

[She smiles. That's probably the only fond things she remembers of the castle, save her mother, but that's it. Or she tells herself that's it. She refuses to acknowledge anything else.

So he comes from a place more like what she knows, at least.]

Did you like it at your home?
