[GV] - 2 - A pirate's life for me

The host club Golden Victory was closed for the last two days to facilitate a change of theme. When its doors reopen on the first, the change from the upscale classy atmosphere of last month is dramatic. The interior is now decked out to the theme of a pirate ship. There's rigging along the booths at the walls and the bar has been done up to look like an exotic market. Fruits and nuts have replaced the bowls of peanuts that had graced the bar top and the herbs and spices cast a pleasing aroma over the entire club floor. There is a small Help Wanted: Bartender. Contact Zelos for Details sign on the bar but it's oddly hard to spot, partially obscured by various bits of decor.

The hosts themselves have been given opulent pirate attire to go with the theme! Each, of course, has been allowed to add little details of their own to the uniform as long as it fits with the theme, and of course lets not forget the hats. The host list is, as ever, placed by the door for the customer's perusal next to the posting of the rules.

[Fai is all decked out in his own vampire version of the pirate apparel. He already has an eyepatch so he has changed it to a blue with gold detailing to match the rest of the ensemble.

However, as this host sits in the corner, it is obvious that his mood is a little less dapper then it normally is. He stares out into space as he sits on the arm of the couch he has claimed in his corner. If anyone approaches that normal smile will return to his face..but for now he is lost in his own thoughts.]

[Rin has been spared the more flamboyant wear, and is in little more than a baggy off-white tunic, loose pants, boots, vest and scarf. Basically, an easy costume to cook in but still match the theme.

He feels lucky enough to just be allowed back to work after what happened, but he's not in the greatest mood lately either. Even so, it's easier to notice Fai's dour expression simply because he's used to the other man being so cheerful most of the time.

He walks out from the kitchen to head to the staff room for his break, stopping and doubling back when he sees Fai.]

... oi. You okay?

[Fai looks over in surprise. He should have expected someone to come up, but his mind was so engrossed in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed that Rin was near. That smile returns to his face almost like someone had flicked a switch.]

Ah, Rin-kun..I'm fine. Just have a lot on my mind.

[Rin's eyebrows go up, but he looks more sympathetic than curious. He's in the same boat, of course.]

... you too, huh?

This world is a strange one..and you never know what to expect at times. I guess we should always expect the unexpected..but sometimes it is still possible to be kept off guard.

[Fai lifts his hand and waves it dismissively.]

How have you been doing, Rin-kun?

[He doesn't really wait for an answer, turning to lean against the wall and rest his foot against it, arms crossed over his chest as he lets out a sigh.]

Been better... guess you were lucky enough to miss my fuck up the other day, huh?

[Fai tilts his head to look up at Rin.]

It seems I did. What happened, if it is okay for me to ask?

[Rin scowls, but it doesn't last long. It fades in to a worried, tired frown, betraying just how much it's been weighing on him. His tail twitches, swinging low to the ground.]

I watched two of my friends get murdered... freaked out and killed the guy who did it myself. But... I didn't stop there. Onna my other friends wound up in the hospital 'cause he tried to stop me, and I... hurt him, too...

Him and a lotta other people who got in my way...

I'm sorry..that must have been very difficult. I can see why you would be upset about all of that. Perhaps this place is just the distraction you need..

[Now Zelos has never really run a business before. This has lead to some good and bad managerial decisions thus far, though nothing too terrible has befallen the club because of him. Not yet anyway. What he does make sure to do - honestly because if he was working for someone it would be something he'd want - is keep abreast of what his employees need. Sometimes that includes being aware of what's going on in their lives in order to keep them happy. Happy hosts make even happier customers, after all. And Fai does not look happy, which is exactly why Zelos plunks himself down next to the vampire.]

[The sudden appearance of his boss makes Fai sit up a little straighter in surprise. He looks over and for a moment that mask he is usually so good at wearing is unable to be put on. But he finally manages that smile, though it is much weaker then he normally able to muster.]

Zelos-san..I'm sorry. Have I been neglecting my duties?

Nothing like that. You just look pretty down. Anything you wanna talk about? I'm not just some slave-driver y'know.

[He winks, the joke lighthearted to try and put Fai at ease. They hadn't talked much, just enough for the interview and to organize the job, but from what little Zelos had observed Fai was usually much more upbeat than this.

Or rather, appeared much more upbeat. He's the master of the foolish mask and it definitely hadn't taken him long to spot the one on Fai, but he's hardly going to call the man out on it. After all, that's just inviting to be called out in turn and with everything that's been going on lately, his own mask is tenuous enough as it is. Even so, it must be something serious if he can't maintain his facade.]

Ah..it's nothing too serious. Recent events just have me a little distracted.

[It's hard to suddenly be faced with the person you watched die..whose death you blamed on yourself..and you spent your life trying to bring back to life only to realize it wasn't possible...or at least so you believed.]

[He sighs lightly and leans back into the couch.]

Are you friends with any of those kids who died, or is it something else?

[There really is no tactful way to ask that, but at least his tone is relatively gentle.]

[He shakes his head.] I wasn't familiar with any of them though I am vaguely aware of what happened because of the transmissions. Though I try not to pry too much.

My worries actually stem from a new arrival. It's a complicated situation..

[He pauses a sec, then puts his hand up with a shake of his head.]

Actually it's not really my business at all. Still-

[He pushes to his feet, adjusting his tricorne hat with one finger.]

If you need some time to work through it, you're welcome to. The club's not going anywhere and it's not like we're actually trying to make money here.

Besides, if it is an enemy, I can't say I want them barging in here and wrecking up the place.

[Another joke, but with a ring of truth to it.]

Don't worry. It's definitely not an enemy. This arrival wouldn't hurt anyone. But I should try to stay close to them until they get used to things.

[Fai smiles softly.]

I'd appreciate a little time. But I will do my best while I am here.

[Tatsumi arrives at the Host Club and immediately looks for Fai. If it weren't for the vampire, he would probably not visit a place like this. While he's not against it, it's not his type of place.

He spots his friend (?) in a corner, and frowns a bit. Fai looks a bit absent-minded. He wonders if something happened to him. He shrugs and approaches him, almost sure he will smile before he gets there. Fai's fake, sad smile.]

Fai-san?

[Fai is surprised to hear the familiar voice. He hadn't really expected Tatsumi to visit the club..and honestly its been awhile since he's even seen the other man. He looks over and that smile does spread across his face.]

Hello, Tatsumi-san. Welcome to the host club~

[He smiles back a bit. If he is honest with himself, he had missed his friend.]

Thank you. [He bows.] It sure seems like an... interesting... place.

[behind_my_smile]

It has its moments. [Fai stands up and waves towards the couch.] Please have a seat. Would you like anything? [He does have to do his duties as a host after all.]

Thank you... [He makes himself comfortable in the couch.]

No, don't worry about that. It would be nice to just talk to you, if that's alright? But if you do want something to drink, I'll have whatever you'll be having.

I don't mind getting us something. Give me just a moment. [Fai went off and collected two teas for them and brought them back. He set them on the little table then seated himself on the couch next to Tatsumi.]

There~ It's better to talk over a tasty beverage after all.

[He appreciates the gesture and gladly takes the tea.]

[Fai takes his own tea and relaxes against the couch.] So how are you, Tasumi-san?
