[ There's a lot of incomprehensible cursing, though whether it's in English or not is uncertain. A man, dripping wet, is removing his vest and draping it somewhere, then removing his gloves (casting them aside) to work on getting his knee-high boots unlaced. ]

[ He drops a metal handle-shaped thing on the ground, looking extremely annoyed. Guy rarely loses his shit like this, but some things were just that important to him. ]

[He grimaces then aims a sharp kick into the ground next to the handle on the ground. It flips automatically into his hand.]

I was dragged through a bloody body of water when I shouldn't have been. Water got into this here device-- [He holds out the slender piece of metal with a dark green cube on one end.] And short circuited the damn thing. I highly doubt my usual guy is here in this abominable snow-globe to help fix it proper, see?

[Dualscar approaches, not too concerned that the human would attack him. If that's a weapon, it doesn't look like a very dangerous one, like a truncheon or something.]

I knoww someone wwho's good wwith electronics. Wwhat's your name, human?

[He has to look up slightly at the taller...thing, whatever he was, but he doesn't step back despite his wariness of the stranger. Even without his weapon, he remains calm.]

Henry. [A beat.] I do not have any means of paying for their services.

My name's Orphaner Dualscar. [He smirks] Maybe you do, or not. I don't knoww wwhat kind a payment he looks for for his servvices, but if I wwere you, I'd take it up wwith him. His name's Expatriate Darkleer, and he's a troll like myself, only a land dwweller. [And therefore inferior] Nothin' much costs anything here, anywway.

[He raises an eyebrow at his name. Dualscar. How uh, fitting, he thinks.]

Expatriate Darkleer, is it? I'll remember that, then. THanks. [Then since Dualscar brought it up, he might as well say it. With a sort of quirk of his lips:] Never seen a real life troll before, I must say.

You're wwelcome. You can tell him I gavve you his name. [Eyebrow] Wwell, no reason you wwould. I nevver heard a humans before I arrivved in this place, either. But there are a bunch a trolls here, though not as many as the human rabble.

[Mentally jots down the strange name in his mind.]

Oh, yes, us human rabble tend to outnumber the countless numbers of alien species in almost any situation. Fictional or not, apparently. [Rolls his eyes slightly. Not that he's ever encountered aliens, but hey, science fiction is weird, ok!]

Not wwhere I'm from. [Grumpy troll is a little grumpy] But here the scientists wwho kidnapped us seem to havve a special interest in your species.

[Folds his arms, looking the troll up and down.] Really, now? There's nothing that interesting about us, if you ask me. You, on the other hand, look like quite the troll.

[He still finds it hard to say that word without snorting to himself, but he controls himself. He can do this. Get on an alien's good side.]

[Oh, flattery. Flattery is definitely the way to Dualscar's heart, and he puffs up visibly, filling out his chestplate and flaring his fins just a bit]

You're a pretty discernin' example a your species, then. I happen to be a purple-blooded, sea dwwellin' troll, an therefore a member a royalty from the moment I wwas hatched, not evven considerin' my accomplishments as a military leader.

[Oh, that was too easy, almost. He smiles easily now, arms unfolding and now resting on his hips.]

My, that's mighty impressive. How many years of military experience?

[Dualscar gives him a slightly suspicious look, but he doesn't detect mockery. He folds his own arms]

About three hundred swweeps wworth.

[He's good at hiding his mocking tones and such. Pretty sure he'd be dead if he wasn't.]

Three hundred?

[devwocean]

That's right. [What, don't you live that long?] And are you a wwarrior, Henry?

[He'll let the odd number pass, and then just shrugs with a hint of a smile.]

"Warrior" sounds a bit dramatic, and less compensated for.

[Eyebrow] You're a mercenary, then? [A reasonably noble profession as far as he's concerned]

Sure, that's it. [He fiddled with the metal in his hand.] Unfortunately, I cannot do any jobs with out this little thing fixed. I do hope this person you know is a good one.

You're either a mercenary or an assassin.

It's a skill a his. For example, look at this piece a his handiwwork. [He reaches into a pocket and pulls out a tiny, metal dragonfly. The minute robot fans its wings and buzzes up, landing on Dualscar's shoulder]

[Oh, he happens to have an example of his work right in his pocket. How cute! And it's a dragonfly! Gee, Dualscar, any more adorable and Henry will start thinking you've got a soft spot for cute little creatures.]

Intricate and an artist. Not bad. [Then like an afterthought.] And yes, assassin is more like it. Need anyone killed? I'm pretty open now that my schedule's been unceremoniously cleared out.

It's a useful devvice, not just for showw. [He leaves it where it is, and chuckles softly, looking Henry up and down doubtfully] Generally, I do my owwn cullin', but if I havve somethin' that's not wworth my personal attention, I'll givve you a chance to provve yourself.

[He raises an eyebrow at that. Oh, this guy is a real condescending douchebag, and that's coming from Henry. He's not particularly interested in cleaning up trash, but he'll play along for now.]

Ooh, can't wait. [OK, this time, he let a bit of the sarcasm flow. Come on, you can't expect him not to.] What does the little insect do?

[Dualscar chuckles. If Henry had pretended not to be sarcastic, he probably would have lost all of Dualscar's respect. Not that he has a lot of that, yet.]
