He was killing himself. He could feel it in the intense pain that exploded across his think pan like someone was jabbing two culling forks through his eye sockets and then wiggling them around inside his brain.

He was sure he had killed himself. He sort of hoped he had killed himself, because living with that kind of damage was going to suck serious hoofbeast testicles.

And then he'd expected to hopefully find himself safe and sound in the bubbles, where he could spend eternity reliving the few good moments he'd had in his short life and leave the universe-saving and misery to someone else. What he hadn't expected was a whole lot of water, and confusion and a lot of voices, none of which were familiar. It sounded like he'd suddenly landed himself in the middle of a city.

Frightened and confused, he pushed himself up, coughing up a lungful of sea water and yellow blood, and felt around helplessly, searching for something, anything familiar. "Hello?" he called out, but not too loud. Karkat, Kanaya, Terezi and Gamzee had been right there. Why wasn't anyone saying anything to him?

"What happened?"

You mean...I was supposed to die, and instead I got kidnapped to a weird underwater city in another universe?

Exactly. You will die eventually, [Or something like that.] buuuuut... Your death's been slightly placed on hold for the moment. [Okay, she's done with the towels, she disappears from him for a moment, then returns with a fresh one, dropping it lightly on his head to start drying him off.]

You should probably get out of those wet clothes, you know! You wouldn't want to start getting sick here on your first day.

Really? [He lifts his head and clumsily tries to dry his hair around his double horns, grimacing] Fuck. I was really looking forward to getting that death over with. Especially considering how much that hurt.

[He pauses] You want me to take my clothes off?

I know, dying does hurt doesn't it? But you don't have to experience that feeling here, unless someone does decide to kill you here. There are a few people who would do it, but if they do then you'll come back! [WOW ARADIA. WOW.]

[She pauses as well, then smiles. OKay that got a chuckle and a small blush at the thought oops. out of her.]

Not in public, of course! There's a store nearby that stocks extra clothing for us for free and provides changing rooms, and I figure you wouldn't want to walk around in soaked clothing.

Um... I don't think my brain is up to understanding this right now. But getting into dry clothing sounds really good. These are really gross.

I figured... You've had such a journey, and you can give that brain of yours a good rest. [She takes his hand gently, leading him off to the Nostalgia Nook.] Would you like to know who's here?

[He leans on her deeply, but shuffles along slowly, wiping fresh blood from his lips.]

Let's see... [She has to start naming off them in her head, just to make sure she isn't missing anyone...] Well, you and myself, obviously. There's also Karkat, Tavros, Nepeta, Kanaya, Vriska, Equius, Gamzee, Eridan and Feferi. Along with that? You wouldn't believe how many adult trolls there are here. Almost everyone's ancestors are accounted for, including yours. And there's nothing to worry about, the old stories of them eating wigglers? Only one would possibly do so, and he's been taken care of. The kids are also here, Dave, John and Jade. Rose still hasn't made it, but I'm sure she'll come sometime!

[PHEW. okay. All of them are out.]

Adult trolls? [That's startling, too.] Woah, that's weird. My ancestor is here, too? You mean that stupid legend is actually true?

You heard me right. [She gives him a reassuring squeeze, c'mon dude, I live next to two and I had to room with one for a month or so.] Yes, it actually is. I think you're going to like your ancestor. I really do.

Wow. [He smiles tentatively, giving her a squeeze back] What's my ancestor like?

He shows your similarities, but there's still such key differences between the two of you. He's much older, and with coming here, he was freed from his duties as the Helmsman. He's a bit quiet at times, but when it comes to those who he cares for, he has had the tendency to speak up a bit.

[She trails off, but that's what she's seen of the Helmsman.]

He was a Helmsman? [Sollux had heard of Helmsmen, of course. It was always portrayed to the young psychic children as a glamorous life serving the Empire, though he wasn't really sure what it would be like to be hooked up to a ship. It might be awesome, though.] Wow. He's going to fucking hate me, isn't he.

He was... [She almost slows just a tad bit, shaking her head.] That's like saying that I'm going to hate you, Sollux. You shouldn't worry, I've put in a lot of good word about you.

You're biased! [He squeezes her, grumbling a little] But he's an adult and if he's anything like me, he probably hates himself, which means he's going to hate me even more, since I'm a blind, half-dead, pathetic, wiggler version of him.

[In response to that, she pulls her free hand up to lightly pull his cheek.] I'm biased but I'm fair. He's not going to hate you for that. Believe me, if at anything he's going to probably feel the need to draw closer to you. You understand that he is one of the Signless' oldest friends. He's not as some of the other adults happen to be.

[She finally releases his cheek, another squeeze.] So stop worrying. Besides, I wouldn't let him hate you, he's really fond of me and he wouldn't want to see me get upset.

[He squeaks and flails a little as she pulls on his cheek, grimacing]

Well...we'll see who's right. [Huff huff]

We will, won't we? [She's got that "I'm going to be right" attitude, whoops. Oh, right, they're finally at the 'Nook. That's great.]

Either way, we're here now. This store is actually one of the only ones that charges, but I've got more than enough to get you a new outfit.

[And there's no way to say no, Sollux. She's determined!

Even though truthfully she still has all of his clothing in the apartment they were sharing, but whoops they're already here so what can they do.]

[He's well aware that there's no point in really arguing with her when she's determined, so he doesn't try. He scratches at a spot of dried blood on his neck and shrugs]

Do they have anything with my symbol on it?

[Good, good... She pulls him over to where some of the shirts are confined to, pulling her hands away to search.]

Luckily for you, we do. This shop that we're in specializes in items from our home world. I'm really thankful for that. As much as I would love to spend all of my time in my god hood, changing into something else is something that I like doing a lot more.

[After she finds one of his symbol, she dumps that and an extra towel into his hands, then moves away. Whoops, let's just leave the blinded standing there, Aradia. That's a good job. ] Just one moment, I'll find you another pair of pants too!

[He grabs the objects and holds onto them, trying to figure out what they are by feel. He can't follow her, so he stands there feeling useless and stupid while she whirls around.]

Um...okay. Pants. I'll just stand here, then...

I'll jut be a second, I promise.

[She really was, she totally comes back in another moment and piles on a pair of pants right on top of the towel, then starts lightly pushing him towards the changing rooms.]

Now we can get you out of those!

[He stumbles a bit, unsure of where she's steering him, and blushing profusely]

Hang on...where are we going now?

I'm taking you to the changing rooms. I'm pretty sure you can dress yourself, right?
