She's Been Sleeping with the Chocobos

Selphie had been pretty quiet lately. There was that curse, and that was weird, being so tiny and so small. She went places and was completely unnoticed. There there was Valentine's Day and all of the confusion that was brought with that. And now, now Selphie is pretty exhausted. The chocobos eggs are due to burst open soon, at least they should, and Selphie's been hiding out in the chocobo barn waiting for them to hatch, to make sure everything goes okay.

Maybe you haven't seen her around in a couple of days, not at the plaza, or at her usual cafes. Maybe you've noticed that she hasn't been home lately. Or maybe you don't know who she is, you don't care, and you're just walking past the barn and feel like looking in. But there's a Selphie in there, and she's got some blankets, a small pile of books, her guitar, and a box filled with empty takeaway tea cups and empty sandwich wrappers.

Find her in the morning/early afternoon and she'll be fast asleep on the hay. Later in the day she'll be grooming the birds, maybe playing with them outside, or singing to them. At night, she'll be keeping vigil.

*Selphie smiles and reaches out to hold one of her hands*

You don't know, but I'm a friend now and I'll help. How bout you tell me his name, and if something bad is happening, I'll be sure to keep an extra eye on him?

*Selphie thinks about this for a moment, a hand on hip*

Hmm... Well, if I was a samurai, I guess I wouldn't have this problem. Everyone believes a samurai is true to his word... Uhm...

In that case, I just promise. And I always mean my promises. And if I don't do what I say, then you can... you can do whatever you want to me.

[ashihara]

Alright. I'll keep an eye out for him, okay?

[ashihara]

[A pause. A long pause. An even longer pause.]

....Thank you.

[booyaka_boom]

*She smiles brightly and gives a sharp salute*

[A light giggle]

In the meantime, about these birds...is it possible to ride on one of them?

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie smiles and turns to the birds, giving a nod*

Uh huh! They can go pretty fast, too.

[ashihara]

Would they mind if I tried to ride on one?

[booyaka_boom]

Nopes! Not at all! Do you need a saddle or anything?

[ashihara]

[She stares back at the chocobo, then Selphie, then back at the chocobo]

...I think a saddle might be necessary.

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie goes over to the wall with the equipment on and gets a saddle, some reins, and a hat too*

Here we go!

[ashihara]

[Chitose blinks when she saw the hat but she puts it on anyway. Couldn't hurt to try. However, when she looked at the chocobo, she started to hesitate.]

And you are sure that this is safe?

[booyaka_boom]

Sure it is!

*Selphie goes about putting the various bits and pieces on safely to the chocobo. Then she cups her hands together by the side of the bird*

Just use my hands to get up. Rinoa's a patience girl.

[ashihara]

[With a raised eyebrow, she grabs Selphie's hand. However, she was still a little suspicious about this ordeal]

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie helps her up onto the bird, who stands perfectly still, waiting for her to settle comfortably on her back*

[ashihara]

[She nodded]

Yes, at least, I hope so?

[booyaka_boom]

*Selphie lifts the reins and offers them to her*

Hold onto these carefully, and keep your feet in the stirrups. Then we'll get Rinoa to walk outside if you like.

[ashihara]

[As she does so, she was little surprised by the sudden movement from the chocobo. It felt a little weird. Normally, these kind of animals would be used for livestock back home and never like this. Still, it was kind of fun to be this high up. Now if it didn't look like she was panicking a bit...]

*Selphie smiles reassuringly*

I'm gonna keep a hold of her, just so you know that she's not gonna go running off anywhere. You ready to head outside?

*She turns, and slowly marches the bird out to the large enclosure*

Yes, I believe so.

[Why does Chitose have a feeling this isn't going to end so well? Oh boy...]

[booyaka_boom]

*And soon they were out in the open, where other chocobos were walking or even running around, but Rinoa the Chocobo keeps up a steady pace*

How's that? Okay?

[ashihara]

Yes, I believe so, this seems to be fine.

[Hopefully] This...chocobo won't go faster than it should right?

*Selphie smiles up at the girl and raises a brow*
