Characters: Orihara Izaya and the world of Vatheon
Location: Most likely in the Plaza, but anywhere really.
Time: Monday evening
Style: Action or prose.
Status: Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide open

[This might be considered a warning sign for mental instability but if anyone actually knew Izaya, it wouldn't be that shocking. It's still a pretty interesting sight regardless.

Izaya is pacing back and forth. Between one street lamp and to the next. He's walking in a quick, even line back and forth, back and forth. He stops at each street lamp and occasionally pulls out his starfish communicator but only to put it back away and continue pacing. If anyone had been watching for a while now, they might've known that he's been doing this for a good twenty or maybe even thirty minutes.

He's muttering to himself too. Even better. Oh but the slightly worse part is the flick blade he continuously snaps open and shut in his other hand- of which is clicking loudly over his ramblings. He doesn't look upset. Actually, he looks kinda of energetic and excited.

Go and interrupt his thinking time?]

[And just like that, without any warning whatsoever, Jacob is standing not too far away, cocking his head slightly at the scene in front of him. Long time no see, Izaya.]

Penny for your thoughts, Izaya?

[Jacob takes the hug in stride, smiling down amiably at Izaya as he speaks.]

I'm alright. I haven't seen you in a while...you have been keeping yourself well, correct?
nos_servabit: (intently listening)

Coma? How awful. You don't remember anything, do you?

[He stares down at the hand holding but doesn't complain or comment on it- he just gives a slight shrug of his shoulders and walks along with Izaya, his smile ever so omnipresent.]

We had some very interesting events occur last week...
nos_servabit: (a reassuring smile)

I hope they were good dreams.

[The side of his mouth twitches slightly upward, as if he's amused by a recent memory.]

You could say that. [And he looks over at Izaya.] Would you believe me if I told you I was the god of the dead for a week?
nos_servabit: (something wicked)

[personal profile] nos_servabit 2012-02-15 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Though his smile stays the same, his eyes darken ever so slightly. Jacob is more of a death god than you think, Izaya.]

No, I didn't do that. I was Osiris, actually, and he was the god of the dead that judged souls after they died. The Egyptians actually considered him a very kindly god, different than most culture's interpretations of death.

Of course it is. Who gets to go to the Elysian Fields or heaven, and who gets to have their soul tormented for all eternity?

You? [He stares back, blue eyes never leaving Jacob's face.]

It depends. Are you planning on answering for all your actions, no matter what form those answers may take?
nos_servabit: (intently listening)

[He just tilts his head slightly at Izaya.]

You must recognize what you have done right and wrong in your life.

And you must tell the truth to yourself as well.

That's good. Not many people can say that.

[And he glances away from Izaya for a split second to look up at that strange blue sky that was not a sky, but an entire ocean above their heads.]

Some people live in fantasies that they're really good people. Or really bad people. And they don't realize the honest truth until it is too late.

That is true. To judge others, you have to judge yourself just as much, if not more.

[He stares back at Izaya, and once again, it's evident that though his face is almost youthful and cherubic in nature, his blue eyes are incredibly ancient. One wonders if they might have seen the pyramids being built.]

I'm not a very good person, either.

[He's silent for a good while at Izaya's question, and when he answers, there's just the slightest hint of sadness in his voice.]

I don't think I would end up anywhere. Sometimes, people are not so lucky when they eventually pass away. They stay forever in one place, never moving on, but never returning to life, either.

[Based on what his brother told him about the people he saw that were supposed to be dead on the island, Jacob is sure that one of these days, he will be exactly like them. Just a whisper in the wind.]
nos_servabit: (not a capricious god)

[personal profile] nos_servabit 2012-02-15 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Really?

[He does look somewhat touched by that, but it's hard to tell when his face is one that hasn't shown strong emotion in over ten years.]

I guess like a ghost. But also like a state of existing that isn't living or dead. Just there.
nos_servabit: (sideways glance)

[personal profile] nos_servabit 2012-02-15 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[He sounds slightly intrigued by that statement.]

Is it? You wouldn't be tired after existing for such a long period of time? Wouldn't want to make it all and?

[The man stares at Izaya for a while, blue eyes almost poring into him, as if digging for things he knows he can reach. And then Jacob does something a bit unexpected.]

[He lets out a small laugh.]

[It isn't a normal laugh, more like an sharp exhalation of air than anything else. But it is a laugh. Whether it is an amused one or a laugh to hide one's sadness is hard to tell- Jacob's expression doesn't change, but the key to it may lie in his eyes, which look slightly full of pity suddenly.]

It sounds good to you...doesn't it? Immortality. Living forever. Never having to worry about the dangers lurking ahead. Knowing without a fact that you'll see people come and go, live and die, while you remain motionless at the edge of time.

[A pause.] I can imagine that people who are immortal are the loneliest of them all, though. Could you live with that, Izaya? Being forever alone?
nos_servabit: (something wicked)

[personal profile] nos_servabit 2012-02-25 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
So, immortality is something you want beyond anything else, is it? Beyond people, beyond society, beyond friends and family. A person detached from everything. You do seem like a good candidate for a power like that...most people would react with extreme emotion after a while.

[He tilts his head slightly at the faded smile, eyes narrowed in curiosity.]

But there's something else, isn't there? There always is. Are you absolutely sure, Izaya, that you would throw away everything for a chance to live forever?
