*With a strong gust of wind, Japan lands on one of the lampposts. He looks left and right but there is no sign of his friends. This is certainly a troubling matter. He was supposed to be in the heavens by now - but for some reason, he couldn't get out of this wretched underwater palace.

A sigh.*

And I still have this lump I need to give back to the old man ...

*The tengu flips his wings few times out of restlessness. Few of his feathers flutter down to the ground.*

We did have fun that we did. Too bad there doesn't seem to be much merry souls under the sea.

*... He also should stop talking to himself.*

[ Cinderella!Italy is minding his own business skipping along. He's wearing a maid's type outfit, his hair pulled back with a hankie (save that amazing curl of his). He skips along with his basket, going to the market to fetch more ingredients for dinner!

That's all well and good until he spots the tengu, not knowing it's his friend Japan. He drops his basket and freezes. Maybe he hasn't noticed him yet. (then again, how hard is it to not notice a full-grown male country in a dress and bloomers...) ]

Why does he get an urge to draw pictures he needs his camera!!! But o,oh- yes, he needs to say hello to his friend. Although he isn't sure how they became friends.*

Oh hello there. You dropped your basket.

*He hovers near the ground and picks up the said item, holding it out.*

[ unfortunately the skittish country hasn't recognized Japan yet. But at least as far as he can tell, Tengu!Japan isn't out to get him. Maybe this "new" person would be his friend too. (even though he already is.)

He takes the basket. ]

You're welcome ... *... Now this is strange because he knows that this man is a friend of his, but he can't remember his name or anything. And he couldn't be that old man he hoped to meet.*

[ Italy stares for a moment. They could've met somewhere, but Italy's pretty sure that he'd remember someone like this, but... ]

*Japan lands gently onto the ground, folding his wings as he did so. It's quite graceful how he does it.*

I seem to get the impression as well. But perhaps we did meet somehow. The world works in funny ways.

Ve, ve~. Maybe we did. I wonder where. I don't get out much, though. Housework keeps me really busy.

[Rue hasn't been affected by the curse. But it is hard to ignore all the same, and seeing a single black feather fall down from the sky alarms her. She picks it up, though, and decides to follow where it came from...or at least, where it looked like it came from.

And she sees Japan, blinking in surprise. No...it was not her father after all...

She breathes a sigh, and cannot tell whether it is one of disappointment or relief.]

Fun? [She calls out to him, having caught the tail end of his words.] Fun with what, I wonder?

*The tengu jumps slightly at the sudden question and looks down to see a girl. Surely no one he remembers from his world - but yet, he seems to know her all the same.

Odd.*

That would depend. *He says at last.* Fun playing games, fun performing music, fun with people.

[ravenly]

[She hasn't caught on that he doesn't quite recognize her. And it's a bit surprising, to see him with those wings, but all the same, she knows well what this city is capable of.

She smiles a bit.]

Not necessarily mutually exclusive, are they?

*He floats down to her now, curiously. Without landing, he leans in observe Rue more carefully.*

But I have lost sight of my friends. If you are not busy, can you accompany for a while?

[Oh, dear. She's being observed now, is she? She kind of stares back, with some suspicion in her eyes.]

...I have no plans for the moment. Who are you looking for?

The other tengu of course. We promised each other to meet up before the first sunset, but it already has been few days ...

Tell me, young girl. Have you seen other winged people like myself?

*Well, that should give away the fact that Japan isn't himself. But he stops hovering over her and lands in front of her - it's ... less frightening right?*

[As the feathers flutter down, a large white hand reaches up to catch them. Pressing one against his lips thoughtfully, Darkleer stares upwards at the tengu.]

Perhaps you are looking in all the wrong places, Sir Bird.

*... He knows he has wings but being called 'Sir Bird' doesn't sit well with him. It's unpleasant that's all.*

I'm afraid I am not a 'bird.' I am resident of the mountains - a tengu.

I do not mind. *Although he still sounds a little miffed.* What would you like to know?

Everything I can. Both for I find knowledge in its own right to be a worthy goal, and so I do not wish to insult you.

[Tentatively, he gives the other a smile.] You are quite impressive, and I have yet to discern if it is something unique to your race or just you yourself.

Now he can't be angry as before. Japan clears his throat, but you can tell you're forgiven.*

W-well, thank you for your kind words. I shall try my best to explain.

As I've said before I am a resident of the mountains. My kind usually serve the will of the gods of the mountains and protect it.

[If they were anywhere but Vatheon, he'd probably consider the whole thing to be strange.

Anyway, after picking up a freather for a moment and checking it out, he let it fall back to the ground again as he looked up.]

Perhaps merriment is a matter of perspective.

Normally I would agree. But look around you - most of the people are in distress. Smile escapes them.

It is clear that this place lacks laughter.

I've seen some laughing at the misfortune of others. Though this is, perhaps, not what it is you're referring to.

That kind of laughter makes me ill.

*Japan looks at up the castle.* But I feel that it will soon change ... I think there will be a gathering soon. One I am sure most people will be able to enjoy.

It is a rather unfortunate form of laughter. [A soft sigh accompanied a slight shake of his head.]

I do hope so. It'd be nice to see everyone more carefree for a change once more.
