2nd Combo - A Fairy Tale Knight
Characters: Lloyd Irving and every eligible-- everyone
Location: All over the place
Time: From dawn until dusk
Style: You pick and I'll match
Status: Open
[It's been two days since he started coming to his senses, the false memories of that other life already fading back into the ether of whatever spell had created them. As they disappear, though, he remembers. The ball, the one he'd danced with, that moment of timeless magic when their eyes had met and their hearts had known.
The tolling of the bell as midnight approached.
His partner had fled, he didn't know why - but they'd left their shoe behind. The shoe he now holds clutched in his hands. It must have been crafted with magic, he knows, because there is no other way to explain how the delicate glass could support a person's weight without breaking. Surely this shoe was made to fit one foot and one foot alone. It's the only clue he has to the identity of his love. He doesn't even know his love's name or gender. He only knows that they hold his heart.
And that he's going to find them, even if he has to try this shoe on every person in the land.
Speaking of which...
He approaches the next person he sees, giving them a bow fit for the knight he is.]
Excuse me, yes, you. Your pardon, but can I have a moment of your time?
[ooc: Only a "Cinderella" will fit the shoe. Let me know if this is the case. o/]

She's become fixated on a certain tune for instance; a tune which she doesn't even entirely recognize at first, though she becomes increasingly familiar with it as time goes on.
The more she hums it, the more distant everything feels...her life in the Survival Game, her life here...
She snaps out of it slightly, hearing the man call out to her, and she stops. She's holding a pipe in her hand, actually, smoking it carelessly, and she looks a bit surprised as she pulls it out of her mouth.]
...Lloyd?
no subject
Wait. Could she be the one?! His breath catches in his throat at the possibility. He quickly closes the distance, hope in his eyes.]
Is it you? Is it... Are you the one I met?
no subject
With a shake of her head, she tries to clear her head and eliminate these lingering feelings distracting her, in order to answer him properly.
A single catchy tune.
A thirst, a desire for revenge that she'd never felt so strongly before...
No. No, she can't. She must remember where she is, there's nothing to be done about any of that here. Here, in Vatheon...
Her fists tighten slightly.]
Met...where, exactly? I- I'm not—
[—entirely sure.]
no subject
At the ball. You were at it, weren't you?
[Where else would he have seen her?
Please say yes, Tsubaki. He wants so desperately to find his lost love.]
no subject
[She blinks, contemplating. She certainly doesn't remember attending anything like that. She would've never been able to afford a gown beautiful enough, nor would she have had anyone to go with...nor the time.
No, he must be mistaken.]
I don't think I was. Yet I know your name...are you certain we have not met elsewhere?
[...Okay, so maybe the staring isn't helping her much. She really needs to get glasses once this all blows over, but--]
no subject
[Lloyd rubs his temple with the heel of his gloved hand.]
An evil spell took my memories and replaced them with something else. I'm only getting them back just now. But... but there is a way to know.
[He looks at her with hope as he pulls the glass shoe out.]
This shoe was made with magic. The one I met at the ball, they last this. If it was you, surely it will fit!
no subject
[She stares at the way it shines when he pulls it out, for a moment mesmerized. She isn't sure about any evil spells, but his explanation does seem to make sense, since she has been going through the same thing with her own memories...
It's hard for her to tell what is real. And sometimes the name Tsubaki itself feels no more than that of a stranger.]
...I see. And, if it doesn't?
[Fit, that is.
That shoe does not look comfortable, and not at all like anything she might normally wear...]
no subject
If it doesn't... then it doesn't. I'll continue my search. But you and I... Perhaps we met another time, or maybe we did meet at the ball. I don't remember it clearly, but I had to have met more than one person there, right?
Darn it, if only there was a way to cure this curse and return all our memories to us.
no subject
Nor memories of ever owning a shoe like the one he is holding now. But given what's been happening lately, with the city and with her memories, she can't rely on just that to know.
She nods, taking off her wooden sandals, eying the shoe suspiciously.]
There may be nothing we can do about that for right now...but if you at least wish for me to try on the shoe, I...I can oblige.
[It couldn't hurt, right? It might clear things up about her memories as well, if it fit...or maybe even if it doesn't. The fact is, she can maybe benefit from it...]
no subject
I do. I'm ready whenever you are.
no subject
But it doesn't matter much anyway, since she isn't quite able to fit into it properly. She struggles a bit, but between the coldness of the glass against her foot and how tightly it squeezes, she withdraws with a frown.
...It isn't her shoe. And perhaps she knew that all along. It isn't practical for her to wear something like this; it would be impossible to move in.
...]
no subject
He shakes his head, trying to smile.]
You were right. I guess it wasn't you. I still feel like I know you, though. What was your name?
no subject
It is a fleeting smile, though; and a sigh escapes her lips.]
...It's Tsubaki. [Her own name gets caught in her throat for a moment, but luckily she can still remember it.] Does it sound familiar to you?
no subject
It does, but I can't remember where I heard it, or when, or...
I'm Lloyd. Lloyd Irving.
[He searches her face.]
Is my name familiar, too?
no subject
Yes. It seems to be a distant memory now...
[She bites her lip, struggling to grasp it. To remember.]
I wonder if it would be easier to start from the beginning.
[Not. That she likes to make a habit of introducing herself to people and putting herself out there, but, still--]
no subject
You mean, act like this is the first time we've met?
[He thinks about that for a moment, then shrugs and smiles at her. Bowing formally at the waist, he holds out his hand.]
Well, we've already introduced ourselves again, but it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
no subject
Even if he is familiar.
She takes his hand a bit hesitantly, and shakes it.]
The pleasure is mine...
But this must mean you'll be going back to your search, then.
[She glances down at her feet, which are still bare, but she quickly fixes this by slipping them back into her own shoes.]
no subject
Yeah, I probably should.
But hey, I'll see you again, right?
no subject
[Well, it isn't as if either of them are going anywhere, at least. So the chances of running into each other again are good. Either way, Tsubaki doesn't really notice that her handshake had been unexpected.
So it passes without incident.]
Until then, Lloyd.
[She wonders if she's supposed to bow. Something about the setting now makes her feel obligated to be even more formal than she usually is...
But meh. She decides that's stupid, so...she doesn't.]
no subject
When he lets go, he smiles and lifts his hand in a wave.]
Bye, Tsubaki!
[And with a warm feeling inside him, he turns and is on his way.]
