♌ A True Hat-trick - [OPEN]

who: Leo and Anyone
what: hat shenanigans/pranking
when: All week during the curse week starting 6/17.
where: All around Vatheon - starting in the plaza, but feel free to have your character run into him anywhere public.
style: Starting with prose, but will change to match.
status: OPEN

Leo loved a good prank. He hated the last curse, but this one? Was a whole other bag of tricks. Or more accurately a bag of tricky hats. When the mark had glowed last night he hoped he wouldn't be affected by whatever wicked scheme the scientists could come up with to make his (and everyone else's) life hell.

He wasn't expecting this. But oh, was he loving it. The first hat he found was a thinking cap. He was already a pretty good thinker, but the idea of a thinking cap sounded promising, so he put it on and immediately began coming up with the best ideas! (Or what he thought were the best ideas.) He wrote them all down on a pad of paper as they came to him. But one idea stood out from the rest!

See, he had just come across the table in the plaza and it was piled with hats! All sorts of hats! It would be a lot of fun to try them all on. He went to remove the thinking cap to try on a space helmet. He quickly realized that he could not remove it. But, maybe he could put it on someone else. And how awesome of a prank would it be to go around putting these hats on other people? He picked out an array of interesting hats and began putting them into his tool belt.

A supply of hats was necessary to pick from to prank anyone he came across. And surely people would do everything they could to avoid the plaza once they caught wind of the curse, so he needed that supply to be mobile and stealthy.

[ooc: Let me know in an ooc note whether or not you want him to be able to get a hat(s) onto your character. I'm up for both successful and failed pranks as well as your character pranking Leo in return!]

It isn't difficult to find Dirk. This curse (or lack of, when it involves him) isn't the kind that's likely to make anyone hide in their house all week long, unless their hat is the sort that would cause a person to do that. Because he hasn't found a hat like that, and because it hasn't occurred to him to try, he's been out in his garage/workshop all day.

Considering how close together they live, it shouldn't be hard for Leo to find Dirk, especially not when the door to the workshop is open. The most difficult part, in this situation, will be sneaking up.

[[No hats for this guy.]]

Dirk seemed to become aware that someone else was there shortly after Leo came in. He looked up from whatever project he was working on, then turned toward the door, throwing one arm over the back of his chair. Apparently he'd been very focused on his work, because there was a smudge on his nose where he had pushed his shades at some point.

It only took a moment to realize that Leo wasn't in the kind of clothing Dirk was more familiar with seeing Leo in. "Well, shit, what's the occasion?" he said, gesturing toward the shirt. "It's even my favorite style."

"Well, you're sure as hell not dressed like you're coming here to look at machines. Which is a special occasion in itself," Dirk said. He waved Leo in, although he didn't bother to get up out of his chair. "Not that I mind."

"Doesn't change the fact that they're hella fun," Dirk said with a shrug. He glanced over the outfit again, and this time, he caught the hat. "Heading home from getting that?" he asked, nodding toward the knit hat.

Dirk was still looking at Leo, and maybe the shades made it difficult to tell, but it was most certainly a skeptical look. The rest of the outfit might not be that warm, but the hat definitely was. Not that he'd had knit hats to wear back home, or that he'd tried it since arriving here.

"Suit yourself, bro," he finally said. "I dunno what you were expecting when you dropped by, but I should take a break. You want to come into the house?" He was only now realizing it, but his shoulders and hands were stiff.

This continued cool streak is enough to notify Dirk that something's up here. It kind of reminds him of the way he acted during a certain curse, in a way that almost sets off alarm bells. But Leo isn't acting like an outright douche, so maybe it's something else. Either way, it probably warrants investigation. He can multitask while showing Leo around the house.

"C'mon." There's a doorway that leads directly between the garage and the house, and Dirk leads Leo through it. Coral Corral Six is obviously a house lived in by a couple of teenagers. There are a few dirty dishes in the sink, shoes left over by the doorway, a random string of post-it notes on the fridge. There's a sword peeking out from behind the couch, which is largely taken up by a growing monstrosity of a pillow fort. The pillow fort seems to be the residency of a number of.. kind of strange little plushes.

Dirk doesn't pay any attention to them, he just heads toward the kitchen. "Want anything?"

That actually has Dirk thinking for a moment. "I guess Roxy has some around," he finally answers, as he starts looking through the cabinets. The search reveals a few boxes of cake mix, some soda, a stack of shuriken, and a bottle of wine that Dirk shoves further into the cabinet on automatic. Finally, he comes out holding a tin of coffee grounds. "Might take a while."

Behind his shades, Dirk rolls his eyes, but he shrugs and puts the can back. "Then your choices consist of a shitton of soda. Or wine if you're enamored of making bad decisions." Dirk, being who he is, goes for the soda, of course.

Dirk nodded, and handed over a bottle of soda, before he grabbed a seat at one of the counter stools. "Well, next time I want to entice you over here, I'll remember the coffee thing."

"Then what do I need to lure you over? Obviously it worked today, but I thought it'd be the robots, which clearly wasn't the case." Dirk opened his own soda, sipping from it as he kept his eyes on Leo.

"I'll keep that in mind if I want to do things the boring way," Dirk said, but he probably would do it, at some point. The asking might be needlessly elaborate, but it would still be asking. "What were you coming back from doing?" he asked. "Since it wasn't getting a rad new outfit."

Dirk doesn't question that. He's spent some of his time walking around Vatheon when he's stuck on a project. Early on, it was usually because of the novelty of having somewhere to walk to. "In that case, here's a standing invitation to stop by if it becomes a common thing."

"What, I couldn't already?" He joked, but smiled anyway. "Thanks, dude, I will. I promise not to mess up your robots, either."
