[True to Gamzee's word, on Sunday afternoon, there is indeed stuff on the beach fit for a beach party. Which, lets all be honest here, is something we should congratulate him on cause the chances of him forgetting a party he suggested in the first place are about 42.0% .

It is very clearly not a strictly organized beach party however. A variety of beach related things (seriously, the shopkeepers were hella awesome here and had gladly helped Gamzee bring up a whole load of shit he hadn't even known existed) lay strewn on the sand, everything from beach balls to small, colourful shovels for sand castle building (no buckets, wow, what was he, some kinda perv?) to various drink coolers stocked with faygo, faygo, some more faygo, and just for the people wanting something different, some faygo too.

Hope you like faygo.

Or brought your own drinks.

But seriously, anything you might need to have fun at a beach party is there (except, as mentioned, tiny plastic buckets, please this is a very culturally sensitive beach party) up to a few surf boards, even. So grab whatever you want, find a friend or make a new one, and have some fun.]

So, what's your hive look like? I'll help you build it.

[He sits down in the sand next to her. If there's one thing he's good at, it's building things. Sand sculptures should be easy enough. Especially given that his father's list of godly governance includes sculptors.]

It looks like a cave! Except my hive here looks like a human house. So I'm trying to make it look a bit like both of them!

[She makes some room for him, shuffling aside, and then pushing a small pile of sand in his direction.]

Do you think we can really make it?

A cave and human house combined? [He considers it for a moment.] Yeah, I think we can manage that.

[He pulls some sand sculpting tools out of his tool belt which he's wearing with his black and red flame board shorts. Because it makes the best fashion statement, clearly. He also pulls out a small square plastic bucket - the kind meant specifically for sand castle building.]

Really?!

[She brightens up at that. Even as naturally optimistic as Nepeta is she hadn't foreseen her current efforts turning out all that well.

She looks on as he brings out his tools, impressed - and then flails and falls over into the sand when he pulls out a bucket.]

Don't just wave that around!! If Equius sees he'll go mad!

Yeah, really.

[Leo does not know about trolls and buckets, so he's completely confused.]

What's wrong with a bucket? It's for the sand...

I know that that's what humans use it for!

[It's not that she's even really scandalized herself. It's just that if Equius sees it or if anyone happens to mention it to him, he was going to explode.]

But trolls use buckets fur other things!

Okay. I'll uh... put it away.

[Which he does. If only to keep from scandalizing everyone there. He's not going to ask what they use them for. He pulls out a firm square piece of plastic to use for shaping purposes.]

Guess we'll have to improvise.

[She's a lot happier now that the bucket is out of sight, and she flops down onto her stomach, intending to watch him work.]

What will we build furst?

Tell me what both hives look like and we'll figure out where to start from there.

[He's able to imagine things in 3D, so translating her description to the sand should be a breeze.]

[Nepeta nods and starts describing away, waving her hands about in the air as she tries and compares their sizes. Her old hive used to be a lot bigger than her new one.]

[Leo nods as she speaks, building a mental image of the two hives in his mind before combining them.]

So, I'm thinking we could build the cave like hive down near the bottom and the house-like hive can overlap with it. Kind of like Bruce Wayne's house and the bat cave. Except this would be the cat cave.

[Nepeta has no idea who a Bruce Wayne is, or why he'd have a bat cave, but at the sound of a cat cave her face lights up brilliantly.]

Oh, oh, yes, that's a pawesome idea!

[Careful, Leo, at this rate she may want a real one.]

Cool.

[He explains in detail how they're gonna build it and what to do first. He then marks out a couple of areas on the sand in front of them to show where each section would be built so they would have a light framework for it.]

[Nepeta listens quite attentively, but she does look increasingly more puzzled as he goes on. This isn't something she's ever tried her paw at before!]

And if we do it like that I'll really really have my cat cave at the end of it?

[He chuckles.]

Well, you'll have a sand version of it at least.

Heehee, okay! Let's get started then!

[Her enthusiasm is very infectious!]

Heck yeah!

[Leo begins moving sand into the area for the cave, packing it firmly and using his hand underneath to keep the cave nice and open.]

[Nepeta leans in and does her best to help without getting in his way, trying to remember everything he told her they needed to do.]

It's looking purretty good already!

I'm gonna have to pawgree.

[Leo could do cat puns, too. He smiled as they finished up the cave portion. The easy part was now out of the way.]

Now comes the tough part. We gotta build up enough and for the house portion without crushing the cave.

[She giggles at that - it's always fun when someone decides to join in with her punning! Goodness knows she gets told to stop it often enough.]

Do you think we can do it?!

[He enjoys punning and pretty much any other form of joking. Nepeta can pun at him all she likes and he will never tire of it.]

Yeah, I think so. Just have to be careful is all.

[As soon as she realizes this, it'll be puns all day every day.]

What should I do?? I don't want to make it collapse!

[He laughs.] It's be fine. Just make sure you don't fall or lean on it.

[She gets back to it, working as diligently as she can while still being careful not to knock anything over. She has to say it's starting to look pretty good!]

[Once the main structure is built up, Leo gets to work with some of the finer tools, edging out windows, doors and other details on one side of the sandhive.]
