Monthly Mingle Log + Marks
Though things are certainly a bit busy, Station Master has decided to go ahead with the welcoming party for the new arrivals. Partially because he had decided to take this task upon himself and he certainly wasn't going to slack, and partially because making things appear as normal was as good a cover as they had right now.
However with how much has been going on, this party is not quite as extravagant as previous ones have been. The location is near to the elevator, on the beach. A large banner hung between two trees proclaims a cheerful 'Welcome to Vatheon'. The long food tables that normally take up most of the space are missing. There simply hadn't been the capability of whipping up the sort of food they normally served. What is there however is a lot of fruit. Fresh apples and pears. Bananas. A few bowls of strawberries and pièce de résistance several large and perfectly ripe water melons. One or two have already been split, the water melons pieces set out on small plates on one big table ready for any to take. Drinks are available too. Fresh water and fruit juices. The weather might not be entirely the best for this kinda thing (though occasionally the sun seems to peek out from between the clouds!) but at least it isn't raining.
But that is not all.
In the cover of the storage building turned bubble reparation headquarters sits C. She has been contacting the people who signed up for catching the fish, asking them to start bringing them to her today so she can start working on the marks. Similarly the people who have signed up for early mark change have been invited too to drop by today or in the next few days so the first step in making sure the coral is returned to proper working conditions can be taken.
[ooc: This month the monthly mingling log is combined with the log for the fish catching + early mark changing. Also, if your character is new but you want them to learn what is going on, please leave a small ooc note on your comment and we'll send a NPC your way. The mingling log part of this post is only on the first, in the afternoon. The fish catching and mark changing parts will serve as a collective point for threads of this nature for this whole week.]

"Ah, I am unsure if you are aware.. the city the brochure was speaking of is flooded, which is why we are on this island. I have also been told that we were summoned here by scientists for.. energy harvesting from our emotions?"
The knight's statement turns into a question at the end, as it sounds so ridiculous to Saber and she still has trouble grasping the idea.
"I have met someone else here from my world. We're not on the best of terms."

"They're... harvesting our emotions? What kind of god or monster would do something like that?"
It sounds pretty ridiculous to Annabeth too, except that she's known some monsters to do some pretty crazy stuff. Harvesting emotions was possibly a logical next step although she's not sure how or why they would do it.
"Ah, sorry to hear it. Have you met many other people here yet?"
saber may be a tiny bit sexist in an odd way
"I have.. spoken to a few. I am joining the Defense Force to make use of myself, and then helped with the temporary housing."
There's a heavy pause with Saber, as if she is debating asking something, but does not. That is not quite like her, as Saber is very up front and blunt when it comes to conversations. When it comes to women, though..
"May I ask about yourself and the abilities you carry, Annabeth..?"
It's understandable!
"My abilities?" Well. Where to start. She trusts that Saber is not a monster and therefore doesn't mind saying a little more about her heritage. "I'm actually a demigod. The daughter of Athena, the Greek goddess of war, strategy, wisdom and handicrafts, and a mortal man. I love architecture, civil engineering and technology, and I'm also pretty good with a sword and dagger." She pats the gleaming Celestial Bronze knife strapped to her side.

"Well met, Annabeth, daughter of Athena. I am Arturia Pendragon. I was chosen by Caliburn and was known as Arthur, King of Britain for ten years. In the Fourth and Fifth Holy Grail Wars, I was summoned under the title Saber. I wield Excalibur."
Architecture, civil engineering and technology.. it was an interesting array, but unfortunately Saber shared none of those interests.

"The King Arthur? Like, Knights of the Round Table and all of that?" Annabeth felt like she should be curtseying, and then she executes one awkwardly anyway, for good measure.
She had absolutely no reason to doubt Saber's claim either, regardless of the differing gender and passage of time. Monsters and Gods came back to life in her world all the time, in different guises and for different reasons. Plus Annabeth had a natural talent for reading people and Saber's story was every inch the truth.

The King of Knights smiles in return as she lowers her shoulders and head once more in return to the curtsy.
"My lady, no need to be formal simply because we have learned more of each other. Our history has made us who we are, and we should be proud of it, but.. we are here in Vatheon now."
Saber appreciated being recognized fully as King Arthur, but after the two Holy Grail Wars she was in and now being in another place entirely.. it didn't hold as much relevance for her to be treated as she would have expected as a king.

As for Saber's gender, she honestly hadn't thought about it. "Oh it's just. In my... version of Earth, I guess, I'm used to people and monsters from 'mythology' returning to life in the present world all the time. Sometimes they've changed form or gender or even name, so I guess I'm less thrown by this than someone else might be." Annabeth's eyes are grey and piercing. "A person should be defined by their personality and achievements, not their form."

Saber is unable to help but smile. The more she speaks to this Annabeth, the more she enjoys her conversation. And it was a rare thing for the knight to enjoy conversation.
"It is not the best time, but I heard you use the sword and dagger. Perhaps we should train together sometime?"

Annabeth returns the smile, pleased to have earned the knight's regard. She wasn't one to make friends quickly but in Saber she sensed a kindred spirit.
"Absolutely, I would love that!" She gestures to her broken ankle. "When my foot's all healed up and we know what's going on with the city. Hopefully it won't take too long."
