Monthly Mingle Log + Marks
Though things are certainly a bit busy, Station Master has decided to go ahead with the welcoming party for the new arrivals. Partially because he had decided to take this task upon himself and he certainly wasn't going to slack, and partially because making things appear as normal was as good a cover as they had right now.
However with how much has been going on, this party is not quite as extravagant as previous ones have been. The location is near to the elevator, on the beach. A large banner hung between two trees proclaims a cheerful 'Welcome to Vatheon'. The long food tables that normally take up most of the space are missing. There simply hadn't been the capability of whipping up the sort of food they normally served. What is there however is a lot of fruit. Fresh apples and pears. Bananas. A few bowls of strawberries and pièce de résistance several large and perfectly ripe water melons. One or two have already been split, the water melons pieces set out on small plates on one big table ready for any to take. Drinks are available too. Fresh water and fruit juices. The weather might not be entirely the best for this kinda thing (though occasionally the sun seems to peek out from between the clouds!) but at least it isn't raining.
But that is not all.
In the cover of the storage building turned bubble reparation headquarters sits C. She has been contacting the people who signed up for catching the fish, asking them to start bringing them to her today so she can start working on the marks. Similarly the people who have signed up for early mark change have been invited too to drop by today or in the next few days so the first step in making sure the coral is returned to proper working conditions can be taken.
[ooc: This month the monthly mingling log is combined with the log for the fish catching + early mark changing. Also, if your character is new but you want them to learn what is going on, please leave a small ooc note on your comment and we'll send a NPC your way. The mingling log part of this post is only on the first, in the afternoon. The fish catching and mark changing parts will serve as a collective point for threads of this nature for this whole week.]

Re: MINGLE LOG
Selfishly, she clung to Percy a moment longer. "I don't think they can hear us either. Somehow I think we're somewhere even they can't reach." Even worse than Alaska; they were somewhere on earth that she had never heard of. Annabeth kept quiet on that though. As always, the answer was in gathering as much intelligence as they could. "We just have to talk to as many people as we can. Find out as much as we can. It's the only way out of here."
MINGLE LOG
"So we should find the station master guy again. He was pretty cagey when I was talking to him earlier, but maybe now that we have more specific questions he can help us."
Re: MINGLE LOG
"You talked to him too? Yeah he definitely wasn't giving anything up easily. I think you're right though, some specific questions might get us a little further this time."
Annabeth craned her neck. "I can't see him in the crowd though, can you?."
MINGLE LOG
"I don't see him. But I'm sure we'll run across him soon enough. What else do we want to ask him, other than about the tattoos?"
Annabeth was always the best at coming up with a plan.
Re: MINGLE LOG
Annabeth was attempting not to show how much uncertainty she felt. It wouldn't help for Percy to know she didn't have much of a plan right then, short of finding out as much as they could. He didn't need to know how scared this was making her feel. "Also I want to know the basic stuff - can we leave, how, who;s in charge here. That sort of thing."
MINGLE LOG
"Was there anything else in the brochure we should keep in mind?"
Re: MINGLE LOG
Annabeth took a deep, deep breath. "Sorry Percy, I just. Need a second here. Are... are you okay? We were falling and just..." Now they were here and none of this was making any sense at all.
MINGLE LOG
"We were falling into Tartarus. Yeah."
He held her tight. He tried to look on the bright side, which wasn't that hard, considering.
"I mean, I guess I'm not in a rush to go back there. Hey, how's your ankle?"
Re: MINGLE LOG
"Heh, truth." although maybe this place is worse. was something she'd never say. "Oh it's fine. Getting better already. We're together." Annabeth checked him over, hands smoothing down his chest and over his arms. "What about you? That fall can't have been easy."
MINGLE LOG
"Good. Maybe you shouldn't walk on it too much, though. While it's healing." He sighed. The fall into Tartarus had been terrifying; his only link to reality had been Annabeth, the same way she had been when he'd taken a dip in the river Styx.
"I fell in the water, actually," he said, glancing back out at the sea, where Leo was still steaming. "So I'm fine. Are you sure you're alright?"
Re: MINGLE LOG
Dripping wet, Leo made his way out of the water and purposely lit himself on fire, just enough to burn off all the moisture without destroying his clothes. He wished he had Percy's power to not get wet in the first place, but at least he was calm enough to control his flames. Of course, if he had Percy's powers he wouldn't have needed to go cool off to begin with.
"Anyone come up with a plan?" he asked, looking hopefully to the other two when he joined them again.
Re: MINGLE LOG
"It's sore," she said honestly, "but I know with rest that it'll be fine. No need to worry. I'll stay off it as much as I can." Annabeth squeezed him one last time as Leo wandered back up towards them, water steaming off him like a boiling kettle.
"Of course I have a plan!" She said it brightly, intending to stir the troops with more confidence than she felt. "Plan A is to find out anything we can from the Station Master. We know that our stay here isn't permanent, it's just a matter of how long, so let's find out what we can do to shorten it, if anything. We'll do that as a group.
"If we can't find the Station Master then Plan B is to talk to anyone we can here who's been here longer than 5 minutes. Anyone! Keep an eye out for monsters and find out what you can about any threats. Ask about what happens at home while we're here. Any information could help us with completing our quest on time.
"And Plan C is... well, the brochure says that anything is available to us for free during our stay here, including food and accommodation. So if we can't leave yet, we may as well set up base and get comfortable while we figure things out. I'll take care of that part.
"Got it guys?"
MINGLE LOG
He scanned the crowd.
"I still don't see the Station Master; do you want to start with Plan B and then if one of us finds him we can have a signal or something to let the other two know?" he said. "Hey, Leo, do you have any whistles or noisemakers or something in that tool belt of yours?"
Re: MINGLE LOG
He thought for a few moments but couldn't think of anything in particular that would be subtle but alert each other. He decided to leave it in the hands of the tool belt and reached into one of the pockets, but nothing came forth. "Huh... wonder if I used it too much earlier?"
Buford nudged him from behind and Leo grinned. "Buford to the rescue! I can have him fly overhead periodically and if he sees one of us with the station master he can alert the others, right buddy?" Buford puffed happily and jumped up and down. There was plenty of opportunity for this to fail, but he was optimistic. "But we shouldn't drop conversations if the person we're talking to has good information. They could be more reliable than the station master."
MINGLE LOG
"Sounds good. Yeah definitely don't drop a conversation - any ally here is worthwhile. Just do your best and find out what you can.
She squeezed Percy's shoulder. "I'll start over that side." She pointed to the left-most part of the group.
MINGLE LOG
"And Leo - Buford is perfect. What will he do to alert us that one of the others is with the Station Guy?"
MINGLE LOG
"We should meet back up in an hour. We'll need to find somewhere to sleep tonight before it gets dark."
Re: MINGLE LOG
"All right, an hour it is. That should give us enough time before sundown."
Squeezing Percy's hand and nodding at Leo, she limped off into her part of the crowd, eager to get going.
