What: Duke's actually out of the house! ... and in the library.

[ So he'd been worrying people by not leaving the house, and since he didn't have a purpose in leaving the house daily - albeit one that he'd been ignoring recently - Duke is out and about today.

Mostly to the library. Even if he had been reading at .. home, and he would just be reading at the library, clearly the change in location was going to mean something.

At least, that was his plan. Hopefully actually going out and about helps lighten worries.

... Even if he casually skirts the hostclub just for reactions. ]

Oh well.

The ones he's interested in - by skimming the back - tend to be half-romance half-mystery. One that has to do with some sort of shapeshifter, at least. ]

*Insulted? Nah! Selphie just smiles, tilting her head as she watches him, her fingers thumbing the edges of the pages of the books she's already holding*

*Selphie shakes her head lightly at that but happily takes the book from him and reads the blurb*

*She hesitates for a second, holding it closer to him. She's not really sure if what she's about to say is the best idea she's ever had, but he had chosen it, and it was always good to be polite*

... Applications of world's magic. There are barriers, but alternative power sources are somewhat... Tricky, to come by. Seeking other sources of magic to see if there are things similar that would work, or if should try an experiment again in hopefully more stable conditions.

*Selphie rearranges the small pile of books she has, making sure she doesn't drop them, so hugging them to herself instead*

That sounds pretty complicated. Doesn't help that magic from one world isn't the same as the next, which isn't the same as here...

Some are similar enough to work together, or easily mimic the other type, but others require conversions or...

[ Duke trails off, shrugging. He hasn't met anyone who had a bad reaction to his magic yet, so he's not sure of the possibilities. ]

Likely a possibility of severe disconnect, but have not attempted to work magic with anyone with one that doesn't.. work well with.

[ The only person that comes to mind for incompatible magic was .. Who ever it was who had been behind those kidnappings and murders. ]

*Selphie bites her lip and looks down at her feet, remembering Llyod's experiments, the days she spent blind*

How would you know if the magic works well or whatever, or not?

Work together... Haven't actually worked in doing two halves of a spell, but have worked with.. treating own magic the way others make their own work, and visa versa.

... Working well would likely be known by a result being close, or as you wanted it. Not... may be a large variety of things.

So you do a lot of magic yourself?

Great! So, what kinda magic do you do? Healing, elemental? A bit of everything...?

I have only a small ability in healing, but mostly elemental and non-elemental.

*Selphie shifts her weight, thinking that maybe she should put her pile of books somewhere, struggling to keep hold of them all*

*The books start to fall from her hands as she juggles them over to the nearest table*

[ Duke doesn't quite wince as he watches the books, but he flicks levitation on them just in case. If they don't fall, then it won't really show, but..

They may seem a bit lighter for the remainder of the steps.

He returns to where he had been sitting, studying his things for a moment...

Nope it would be polite of him to pack the notes and book up and.. at least share the table, wouldn't it. ]

*Wow. Selphie did suddenly feel a lot less clumsy as she carries the books up the steps. Still, she walks carefully, and settles the small pile on the table. When she does she grins*

*Then she notices that Duke is busy with his notes, and she looks a little apologetic of her outburst. Selphie picks up a paperback, flicks it open, then looks over at Duke*

My name's Selphie, by the way!

*Selphie is pretty much really awkward, but doesn't realise, or just doesn't care. She's smiling like she's having fun, anyway!*
