The Doctor Arrives (again)
Who: The Doctor and You
Where: Standard Plaza Drop
When: Late Morning, just before Noon, November 24th
Style: Brackets preferred but I'll match
Status: OPEN
[A rather damp man in a tweed dress jacket and red bow-tie suddenly appears in the plaza next to the corral.
He spins around quickly, observing and taking in the scene before him in a rush of information.
He runs his hand through his hair nervously only to discover that it is wet.]
I'm wet. [He brings his hand down from his head and inspects it. Sniffs it. Then tastes it.]
Correction. [He looks down at the rest of himself and flaps his jacket out a few times as if to get rid of the excess liquid. He begins to straighten his bow-tie.] I'm soaked... [There is a pause.] with salt-water.
And I'm inside a bubble under an ocean next to an enormous piece of coral.
Ooookay. [He claps his hands together and tilts his head to one side and then the other.]
No TARDIS in sight. [He checks his pockets.] Sonic accounted for, that's good. [He removes his sonic screwdriver and takes a reading. There is a green light and an electric buzzing noise for a few seconds. It turns off and he flips the device up to his eyes to inspect the data.]
Well I haven't mis-aimed. There is certainly something odd about this place.
[He places the sonic screwdriver back in his waterlogged pocket.]
So here's a question. [He continues to talk to himself and walks in a semi-circle around the coral.]
Why does this feel oddly familiar?

That's quite an interesting device you have there.
no subject
[He pulls out the device and wiggles it between his thumb and index finger.]
It's a sonic screwdriver. Useful for all sorts of things.
Made it myself. Well... mostly.
[As he talk he moves closer and offers a handshake.]
Hello, I'm the Doctor.
no subject
Mostly? What do you mean?
[She stares at his hand before taking]
It's nice to meet you, I'm Shirley Fennes. It's nice to meet you Doctor...
no subject
[He smiles.]
Nice to meet you Shirley.
[He leaves the sonic screwdriver in his hand for her to see, but makes no move allow her to hold it.]
I think I've gotten a little lost. Where exactly are we?
no subject
[...] Um, are you an alien?
And oh right, you're in Vatheon! It sounds like you've been here before though.
no subject
What about you? [He takes a step back and looks at her.]
You look a little time lord, but you're not human.
no subject
[Is he? Uh...
Well, Shirley has a problem now. She can't disclose that she isn't due to respecting Walter's wishes.]
And if I am?
no subject
[He leans over and whispers conspiratorially.]
And it's not really a spaceship. More like a time-and-space vehicle.
[He moves away and speaks normally again.]
Don't go telling people that. Soon everyone will want a ride or something and I just don't have that kind of time. Besides, it's currently a little misplaced.
[He presses on to a different subject. Namely Shirley's species.]
Don't worry, I've met lots of different human-looking non-humans. Nothing quite like you before.
no subject
Wait, what?]
...So...you're a time traveler? That's... [Well, she could ask him if he could give her a ride where she meets her past self about what she was about to do. But he probably met that it was only for his own world. However, she remained silent as she continued]
...How did you know?
no subject
[He grins.]
Shirley, Shirley, Shirley. I've been almost everywhere. I can tell a human when I see them.
[He opens his mouth, closes it, then looks up at the top of the bubble before looking at her again.] Well, I can tell most of the time.
[He waves the detail aside.]
You didn't quite feel like a human. [He holds out his hand that she shook.]
Also a little different around the eyes. [He leans in, examining both her eyes again.]
And you seem to have a sort of energy about you that isn't quite normal. Of course, what is normal anyway? I've never really cared for it.
[He stands back-up, smiling and rocking on his heels.]
no subject
I suppose being a time traveler, you have seen everything.
Well, most of my race has blue eyes. But yes, you are right, I'm not human. I'm a Ferines. [And leaving the blond hair and the fact that she's the Merines out for now]
no subject
[He repeats the phrase trying to place it. He knows a lot of different races but he can't place this one.]
Doesn't ring a bell.
Yes, I'm a Time Lord. Yes, I'm a time traveler. but that doesn't mean I've seen everything. The universe is a big place with lots of interesting things in it just waiting to be discovered.
Okaaay, maybe I've seen a lot more of it than any other being around, but no - not everything. What would be the point in traveling be then? It would be so boooring. [He makes an exaggerated face then smiles.]
So Shirley Fennes, who exactly are you?
no subject
[And that's all she's giving away.]
Hm, sounds like you have been on quite a lot of adventures! It must be really exciting to see what the universe has to offer for you! It can't be boring if it's high action involved!
[Pause]
I'm a Ferines, nothing more.
no subject
So Vatheon is a Ferines city then? Who are the Orerines?
no subject
And Orerines are those who can't breath underwater? They're just about as human as anyone else?
no subject
[He smiles.
He's erroneously concluded that Ferines and Orerines are the only people who live here in the underwater bubble and that the Ferines are responsible for its construction - providing a place for some Orerines to peacefully coexist with them in the water.]
no subject
But I think you're mistaken. I...think the people living here are a little bit different from the Ferines. I can't explain it but we're not really in charge of building this.
no subject
[He intertwines his fingers as he puts his hands together and holds them in front of himself.]
Take a try. [At explaining, that is.]
no subject
[Shirley wasn't sure what he was trying to do but she's going to follow through]
Like this?
no subject
Taste of his own medicine!]
That's good, that's very good.
[He shakes a finger at her.]
I meant if you could try to explain what is going on down here in this lovely city if it isn't all Ferines and Orerines.
no subject
I don't know much about Vatheon but I do know it's controlled by a God of sorts here and that sometimes, it likes to create certain events because it's bored.
no subject
A god?
[He looks a little skeptical.]
no subject
[Uh...]
You don't have to believe me if you don't want to but um...
no subject
[He's been to many places where superstition has built up around powerful beings. None of them have been real 'gods'. Shirley seems like a nice girl though, and he's not going to argue.]
What kind of events are going on?
[Solving mysterious events created by gods is one of the top things on his hobby list.]
no subject
[Shirley isn't going to argue that Gods aren't real in some way but she'll keep her mouth shut]
But usually these events range from something really silly to something...really dangerous. It just depends on what he wants to do.
