The Doctor Arrives (again)

[A rather damp man in a tweed dress jacket and red bow-tie suddenly appears in the plaza next to the corral.

He spins around quickly, observing and taking in the scene before him in a rush of information.

He runs his hand through his hair nervously only to discover that it is wet.]

I'm wet. [He brings his hand down from his head and inspects it. Sniffs it. Then tastes it.]

Correction. [He looks down at the rest of himself and flaps his jacket out a few times as if to get rid of the excess liquid. He begins to straighten his bow-tie.] I'm soaked... [There is a pause.] with salt-water.

And I'm inside a bubble under an ocean next to an enormous piece of coral.

Ooookay. [He claps his hands together and tilts his head to one side and then the other.]

No TARDIS in sight. [He checks his pockets.] Sonic accounted for, that's good. [He removes his sonic screwdriver and takes a reading. There is a green light and an electric buzzing noise for a few seconds. It turns off and he flips the device up to his eyes to inspect the data.]

Well I haven't mis-aimed. There is certainly something odd about this place.

[He places the sonic screwdriver back in his waterlogged pocket.]

So here's a question. [He continues to talk to himself and walks in a semi-circle around the coral.]

Why does this feel oddly familiar?

[ Still grinning like the trouble maker he really is. That scarf it tied to another scarf, and that scarf is tied to another and that one is-well you get the idea. ]

[ He peeks innocently over at the fountain and just shrugs. ]

Yeah, it does that all the time. Nothing to worry about.

[Zelda folds his clothes neatly and walks over, setting them on the table before him. Perfectly dry. There's surely a machine out there in the whole of time and space that could accomplish that, but she doesn't seem to be carrying anything.]

Well, there are many different terms for it. Mana control, artes, energy manipulation... whatever you call it when someone directly influences the energy all around us on your world. That is what I am doing.

[No longer quite as dripping, the Doctor tilts his head at Kaito.]

I suppose if there are a lot of people winding up here like me, a communal bubble-bath is appropriate.

[Unable to resist, the Doctor resumes pulling at the scarves. After a few more have come out, he pauses. He looks between the scarves and then Kaito while smiling.]

Just how many do you have in there?

I suppose you're right. I'm a Time Lord though, we usually aren't affected by these kind of space-time anomalies.

[He sighs a bit and scratches his head. Putting the matter aside, he remembers his manners and his dampness. He resumes toweling himself.]

I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm the Doctor.

Yeah, I suppose. I knew a kid that didn't like being thrown in there once though... he got all huffy.

[ Scarf followed after scarf followed after scarf... does it ever end? ]

More than it might seem humanly possible.

The Doctor? Is that your name? What kind of doctor..ah you said Time Lord. I'm not familiar with those kinds of Doctors.

[She squeals with laughter as he scans her, wriggling about as though it's tickling her. It's a good thing her arms are full of drawing supplies or she'd be trying to bat at the light just like a kitten.]

Oh, what is it, what is it?!

[He looks up and holds back from immediately putting it in his sylladex. Instead, he keeps it out. It's not often others immediately identify things he deals with. Not a lot of engineer and technicians in the city it feels like. He's a bit curious now.]

That's right. Something from my homeworld of Alternia. From my observations, most other cultures that Vatheon takes in don't often use biotechnology.

[Regular Einstein, ain't this guy? Sol doesn't utter a word, just keeps on as he is: right hand in his pocket and the square-edged blade in his left hand bracing against his shoulder as he walks. He's just a passer-by, not paying the man any more mind than is strictly necessary since he's in Sol's line of sight.

Guy's obnoxious with his chattering, but not giving Sol much reason to be at all helpful. At least, not until the "Sonic" is pulled out. That catches his attention. Course diverted, Sol's just gonna pause while the newcomer wanders his path, head cocked towards a shoulder to peer at the man.]

Pockets in general're "odd".

[Well, his theory is that it's a pocket.]

The stupid, moronic kind. They also humiliate you more than not so get used to having stupidity running rampant. The mark somewhere on you - [He holds up the back of his hand, showing his own tattoo off] glows when the start.

It also gets you stuff for free.

[He doesn't return the smile, but feels somewhat encouraged by the lack of offense taken.]

I suppose I should answer a few of your questions before I ask any more. This city is known as Vatheon. People such as ourselves are pulled from various worlds and times. The phenomenon has yet to be properly explained, although current evidence indicates the coral is, if not the direct cause, heavily involved.

[She flashes a big goofy grin at him]

Thank you. Ed was bored so she went climbing.

[She drops down, landing carefully next to the sleeping dog.]

[Welp. She doesn't really expect him to be particularly abashed, she guesses; he was openly talking to himself that way, so.

And... still is, more or less; she's not even sure how to answer anything he's saying.

[But then he's talking to her and she's at a loss, eyes wide. Well, he's definitely not from her world. Eheh...]

It's nice to meet you too, the Doctor. [ Literal as ever, she reaches out with a gloved hand to shake his. ]

What's a TARDIS?

Yes, that is so. [He says rather flatly.]

Psychokinetic manipulation of ambient energy is perfectly explainable. Magic is what silly people use to explain what they don't understand.

How did you do that? [He points at his clothes.]

[The Doctor narrows his eyes a little and smirks. That sounds like a challenge.

He begins to furiously pull at the scarves, almost breaking into a sweat. Provided they keep coming after ten seconds of this, he gives up, throwing his hands in the air.]

Just the Doctor. [He tosses the towel away and smiles.]

Well, Fai... [The Doctor moves closer and puts his arm over Fai's shoulder, urging the two of them into a slow walk.]

Tell Me about Vatheon.

[thelastgallifreyan]

[He looks very amused and resists the urge to move it in such a fashion as to make her chase it around. Instead he flips it off, looks at the reading, and walks towards her.

He holds it out in his hand, enough for her to take a good look but not enough to implicate he's giving it to her.]

A sonic screwdriver. Do you like it? [He grins.]

I drew away the moisture by polarizing the water element in the area and setting the opposite pole to the drain in the sink. If I hadn't rinsed it first, the salt would have made your clothing stiff.

[She frowns slightly.]

It is a little rude to say that people who use the term "magic" don't understand what they are doing, don't you think? The meaning of a word is hardly universal.

It can be a little dicey sometimes... [He recalls a few encounters that did not go well.] but spectacular when it works.

Do you mind if I... [He takes a few tentative steps closer while gesturing at the item.] had a bit of a look?

Pockets? Terribly useful things. Can store just about anything you need. The more pockets the better.

[He pats his pockets on his wet tweed jacket.

The man seems a little disturbed and not quite normal in picking up the conversation. Deja-vu seems to spark something though. The Doctor turns and faces the man.]

Have you had the feeling you've been here too?

I don't have any marks on me. See?

[He lifts up his hands and turns them.] I think I would know if I had marks.

[He continues by pulling up his his sleeves. There's a mark on his right arm. He looks surprised and a little defeated.]

Okay, fine.

I have a mark.

How did that get there? [The questions is mostly rhetorical.]

[There's a bit of a healthy pause as Darkleer goes over this. He's a bit reluctant, but finally concedes.]

Very well.

[He holds it out to him, carefully.]

Are you familiar with psionics, Doctor?

[He grabs each side of his jacket from the front and straightens it.]
Good. Because two-hearts are better than one.

[He smirks a little and no longer pretends to be insulted.

He looks back to the coral.]

This would be the first time I've gone up against an alien coral with the ability to manipulate time and space.

[After a moments pause, he claps his hands and jumps up and down once in excitement.]

Exciting!

[He turns back to Dhaos.] Tell me, what is your name?
