[ I'm sure you've seen dogs, Vatheon. Here's one right now. He's a perfectly normal, inconspicuous mixed breed. Toy dog, definitely. There's some schnauzer in there, maybe part scottie, part westie. Could be a kind of poodle. But he's a dressed dog in a polka dotted neckerchief. He's already shaken himself dry, thank you very much but looks to be in need of a rubdown anyway.

He also has a very curious nose.

Like any good dog, he'll be putting that nose to good use.

The coral is his first target. It causes the smallest frown and he sits down to scrutinize it even more. His head turns this way and that and you're sure you can hear the smallest little "hmm..." come from him. Definitely not normal dog behavior.

Anywhere else around the city and he's going to be less suspicious: pawing through things, peering into places, even possibly sitting down while you eat at the cafe in an attempt to mooch a handout.

So Vatheon, when faced with a dog this cute... what do you do? ]

[Nope, not gonna happen, boy. She just whacks him in the face with her napkin when he tries to grab for it.]

Well that's even better, isn't it? It'd be stupid of me to take something that meant nothing to you! [She laughs.]

[ He's still rather dignified and miffed despite being such a small dog. ]

Return that this instant or I'm afraid I shall have to take matters into my own hands.

[That napkin may or may not have mustard on it. Who knows.] I do it very easily, actually. Some would say it comes as second nature to me.

[She was going to give it back, but he's putting up such a fuss... Nah. She hides the pendant in her fist, staring down at him with an eyebrow quirked.] And what will you do? Nip at my ankles?

[ Mustard now on nose which is promptly licked off. ]

I can see that.

[ However, dog is gone in a puff of pink and replaced by a rather miffed looking demon with a raised brow. ]

Now, I believe I can do far more than nip at your ankles.

[Color her surprised. So she wasn't expecting that, but if anything it only excites her more. At least she's smart enough to captchlogue the pendant in her hand (or maybe stupid enough) before he pulls another trick out of his ass.]

I'm still not convinced!

[ Ah damn but he wasn't expecting that. But does he look affected? Not in the bleeding least. ]

Are you?

[ Finger fitting beneath her chin to force her to look at him. ]

And just what, my dear, would convince you to return my stolen property?

[She bares a fang at him when he touches her, but her pride keeps her head there for now. Pulling away would be a sign of weakness, right?]

You have to earn it back, of course!

[ That fang definitely doesn't threaten him at the very least. The pride, however, intrigues him. What demon doesn't find pride a delectable and tasty snack after all? ]

Very well. You've managed to steal my pin fair and square. I suppose it would be only right.

[ And his grip tightens before he forcefully lets go. ]

Your name? I wish to commit it to memory.

[She blinks, a little incredulous that he would give in so easily. He didn't strike her as the type. If anything that only makes her more suspicious. Her grin widens.]

Is that all you want to do with it? [She snickers, both her fangs visible now.] You can call me Vriska! Shall I call you scruffy mutt or do you have another name?

Mephisto Pheles. And I'd recommend you commit mine to memory.

[ Nope. Not using the fake name this time. This is war. ]

And just what sort of creature are you...?

What a weird name! I'll see what I can do~. [She rests an arm over the back of her chair, so casual in a situation where someone else might find themselves uncomfortable.]

I'm an Alternian troll! Nothing like what you would find in human fairy tale books, before you even make a mention of it! [She raises an eyebrow at him.] And what are you? An experiment gone wrong?

[ And a perked brow from that. ]

Pity. You do quite resemble a bridge-dweller. If I didn't know better, I would have made the connection from the get-go.

[ No others who would end up in trouble for this information getting around... ]
