[Boxes. Boxes! So many boxes.

Gamzee knows how these boxes got here --miracles!-- and for what reason --mating! cause that is what all animals on tv do when they come together in large groups which clearly means that in a few weeks they will hear the pitter-patter of little matchboxes-- but he has no idea what he is doing. Well. He is building. Duh. But he has no idea what it will be. He figures the boxes will just let him know once he is done building. So far he's got a stack of boxes put together in the centre and the starts of a haphazard wall surrounding them. Could be anything really.

But it is totally a boxfort.]

It totally counts!

Equius starts humming softly, under his breath, and stacks the boxes higher. Pretty soon, he's going to have to stand up to keep stacking. Good thing he's excellent at STRONG jumping; they can make this tower as tall as they want!

Gamzee actually stops in his building to watch Equius and listen to him hum. It is not often enough he just relaxes like that enough. Definitely makes Gamzee just wanna watch him.

Equius eventually catches on that Gamzee isn't stacking any more boxes, and he turns, surprised to find that he's being watched.

"What?"

"Nothing." He shrugs a little, not at all bothered that he was caught staring and slacking off. "Just getting my enjoyment from watching you be fuckin' chill with things."

Equius blinks a few times, then rubs at the back of his neck sheepishly. "I'm not very good at relaxing, am I?"

"No, you aint." Hey, Gamzee is not a liar. He wouldn't be able to get away with it anyway. "But you been getting better."

"I've been trying." He has! The more relaxed he is, the less likely he is to have dangerous ragefits. "That's part of my training with Darkleer... controlling my impulses better."

"More chill you be, less shit you wreck too." Just look at those boxes! They are just fine. Mostly. Okay, that one is a little dented. And this one too. Point is, most of them are not exploded.

"I know. That's something Darkleer and I work on." He knows! Look at all these unexploded boxes! A year ago, he would have ended up crushing all of them!

Gamzee smiles, shifting a little closer and holding out his hand. "Gimme you prongs."

"No." Equius' response is automatic and fearful. "I'll hurt you."

"You been doing fine with the fuckin' boxes, babe. And my hand is all like way motherfuckin' stronger being than that shit." He just continues to hold his hand out patiently.

"But if I break a box, it's no big deal!" Equius puts his hands in his lap, lacing them together to disguise how they're shaking.

Gamzee shifts a little closer, covering his hands with his own. "We ain't gotta if you aren't down for it. Just wanted to practise a lil' more s'all."

"I know. I just..." He looks up at Gamzee, stricken. "I'm just not that good yet! If I tried to take them, I'd probably break you."

"Shh, we ain't gotta." Gamzee reaches up with his free hand to stroke the side of Equius' face. "Was just thinking you were being all sorts of fuckin' chill that this were being a real good time to be trying. But it's cool."

Equius puts his head down, his calm completely shattered. The lines through his shoulders are tense and rigid again, like they haven't been in awhile, and he breathes deeply, trying to settle down.

It's not working.

He stands up abruptly. "I'm going swimming."

Gamzee reaches up to catch his wrist, looking up at him. "I'm sorry, aight? Shouldn't've all fuckin' did that. Just don't up and go get your fuckin' swim on alone. Ain't safe."

"You don't have to apologize, you didn't do anything wrong, I just... I just need to get some exercise, I need to get this energy out or I'm going to do something stupid, I'm going to break something..."

"I know. Just ain't you go swimming alone, aight? I'll come with if you wanna but the motherfuckin' ocean be way too fuckin' dangerous for that shit." He squeezes his wrist for a moment, looking up at him. "Ain't wanna lose you, okay?"

Oh. That's right, someone Gamzee is close to drowned recently. Equius nods in agreement.

"I'll wade up to my waist and then run around the island, okay?" The water resistance will be good for him.

Well, that and the fact that the ocean is dangerous is the only lesson Gamzee's ol' goat did manage to grind into his brain. Even he doesn't go swimming unless someone else is there.

"Lemme at least all be sending my goat with."

"All right." Equius gently shakes free of Gamzee's hand--not realizing how much control it took to do that and not dislocate his boyfriend's shoulder--and wades out into the water, waiting for Gamzee's goat to surface and escort him.

Gamzee does like his shoulder undislocated!

Fumbling with his sylladex, he digs out the remote after a few times --oh so that is where that shirt had gone-- pressing the button to summon the big robo-goat out from where it rested.

Equius waits until the goat surfaces next to him, spraying him with cool salt water. Then he turns, waves at Gamzee, and takes off at a dead sprint, water churning up all around him and the goat close on his heels.
