She stood there, paralyzed in shock as the witch loomed in for the kill. All she did was blink. One blink and she wasn't staring death in the face anymore. She wasn't in the Witch's Barrier with Madoka and Sayaka, who were witnessing how once a powerful Puella Magi fell to her doom. Mami gave a start, finally noticing how soaked her Puella Magi outfit was. Even changing back into her school uniform did nothing to dry her clothes nor her hair.

'I'm... alive?' was the first thought that came to mind. She turned to look around at her surroundings, not recognizing each building, each little store she saw. What made the sight more odd was the glowing coral in the middle of everything. Mami felt a slight tingle at the back of her left hand, giving a gasp when she saw a mark of some sort on her skin, like she was branded by someone.

No, this wasn't a work of a witch. Her Soul Gem would have reacted to the changes, gone crazy at all of this. So, if this wasn't a witch then...

"Where on earth... am I?"

Luke was out for a stroll. It was something he liked to do often, because it gave him a chance to think, meet others, and see the different sights around Vatheon. It was a good way to relax, especially after how stressful the last week had been.

He stops when he spots Mami, soaked and looking confused. A new arrival? Quickly, he goes to grab a towel from a nearby vendor before he heads over.

"Hey, welcome to Vatheon." He offers the towel, smiling.

"Ah, thank you very much." Mami took the towel gratefully and started to dry her face first. Once she was done, Mami took off the bands the held her pigtails so that she could dry her hair next.

"Vatheon, you say?"

I am sorry for how late this is skdf. My inbox ate it or something.

"Don't mention it." He smiles, always happy to help. It was the least he could do.

"And yeah, it's...well, a city underwater. There's no way back to wherever your from, but...it's not a bad place." Things could have been much worse, really.

[messianic]

[Minato recognizes that face. He was sitting outside of the Welcoming Committee, working on something or other, which gives him an excellent view of the plaza.

And so he sets his papers aside when he sees her, stepping into the building for a moment to grab a towel before approaching her.]

Tomoe-chan...?

[At the sound of the voice, Mami turns around, seeing an older looking boy holding a towel.

... he knew her name. But how...?]

Oh, good evening. [She bows.] I'm sorry, I seem to have lost my way. [a beat. and a sheepish laugh.] I have to apologize. I don't think I know your name...

[messianic]

[....she doesn't remember, does she.

He is used to this, so he merely nods, bowing his head.]

I apologize if I startled you. I'm Arisato Minato. I'll explain as best I can, if you'd like?

[tsundyne]

[The Central Plaza could be pretty boring, most of the time. Even with all these newcomers arriving, it's not unlike Yukari to goof off a bit sometimes--straying here, shopping there, the welcoming brochures still in her hand.

When she spots that familiar head of golden hair, though, she has to stop and stare.]

...Did you go for a swim, Mami?

[She didn't hear her question.]

[Another person who knew her name. Well, the mysteries of this new world are starting to pile up...]

I don't remember taking a swim, actually...

[tsundyne]

[...WHY...IS SHE WET THEN?

Wait, did she disappear maybe? Like she did...? She'd come back wet too, like any other newcomer...]

Um...do you remember anything?

Gohan was passing through the plaza with an armload of groceries, when he noticed a child. Lost children not being anything approaching a new sight to him did nothing to quench his desire to help, but... he glanced back at his empty sleeve. Didn't want to frighten the poor girl.

Well, a little frightening could be counteracted, he supposed... he could just try to keep his left side and its missing arm out of sight for a while. Doing something for the kid should overrule any reason not to, shouldn't it?

"Excuse me," he said, slowly and softly. He approached slowly and maintained a polite distance, angled slightly so that the grocery bag blocked the sight of his far side. "Did you need any help?

"Ah, yes," Mami turned around at the sound of the voice, maintaining her poise even though she was soaked to the bone and she had no idea where she was. "I was wondering if you can tell me where I can find some shelter for the night?"

[neededahand]

Well-mannered and precocious, were his immediate thoughts. He didn't exactly find it strange (the only real context he had for how children acted were himself and Trunks), but it was definitely notable.

"Nice thing about this place is there's plenty of that, and it's free use. Do you want someone to help you look?"

It was that time again, it seemed. After being in Vatheon for a while, she had come to realize that all of the new residents arrived at around the same time every month ... and so, it wasn't surprising in the least when she found yet another soaking wet girl in the plaza that evening as she was making an emergency run for some last-minute dinner ingredients.

The ingredients were momentarily forgotten as Kohaku rushed over to retrieve a towel or two, then made her way back over to the aforementioned soaked girl. The last thing she wanted to do was frighten the poor girl, though, so she slowed down as she came near to her. Poor thing looked pretty confused ... but then, she remembered she had been pretty confused at first, herself.

"Excuse me?" She finally spoke, cautiously moving a little closer. Once she was close enough, she offered the towels she had taken.

"Here. Something tells me you're going to be needing these."

Yeah, it was a pretty loud telling, too. The girl was kind of soaked.

Ah, well. Vatheon seemed to be rather cruel in this case. Mami had been here before, living a new life in the bubble, making new friends and memories. But for some reason, she was sent back and then returned without any knowledge of her last stay here.

She would have to learn all about Vatheon and its nuances again in due time. But for now, there was still the dire need of her getting out of her soaked uniform and maybe finding a place to stay the night in.

"Ah yes. Thank you very much for these." Mami took the towels gratefully, chuckling at what the other girl said next. "I would indeed. These would be really helpful in my predicament."

Kohaku couldn't help the smile on her face in response to the girl's own laughter.

"It was pretty obvious," she said in response to that, then clasped her hands together behind her back and continued to smile at her. At least she had a sense of humor. It was pretty rare to find a newcomer who was up for making a few humorous comments, considering most of the newcomers she'd experienced were very, very confused.

Not that this one was any different from that, really.

"Welcome to Vatheon!" Kohaku then started. "I'm not really sure where to begin, so I'll let you ask the questions and I'll do what I can to answer them, all right?"

[orchestrating]

"That's an awfully obvious place to have one," Joshua mused aloud, not too far away from the strange girl.

He had been innocently passing through the area when the arrival of someone new caught his attention. Considering he had just recently been on the other side of the situation a week or so ago, he took this as a prime chance to see if he could riddle out any mysteries. Unfortunately, it wasn't looking that way. At least he could have some fun, though.

Fun that included standing uncomfortably close to the newcomer, casually glancing over her shoulder at her hand. His own mark was somewhere less conspicuous, and he hadn't seen anyone else with one so obvious - or at least, one that wasn't purposefully hidden behind a scarf or glove.

Poised as ever, Mami turned to see who spoke. She wasn't startled by the sudden company, nor was she uncomfortable with her personal space being invaded (if she was, the Puella Magi had a good poker face going for her). She gave the boy a curious glance, her brows furrow trying to figure out what he meant. Once she looked down at her left hand again, she finally understood.

The mark, the one that was glowing on the back of her hand. Joshua may notice that Mami wore another symbol on that very same hand: the golden yellow flower on her middle finger nail. The ring she has on her middle finger may garner some attention too, with the strange symbols on it and the single red stone on the middle.

"Ah, the mark," she said, bringing down her hand, putting the other one on top of it while she turned to face him. "Unfortunately, I seem to have no control where it appears on my body."

[gorges]

[She hadn't really expected to see Mami out and wet again, and she frowns slightly as overhears what she asked.]

What d'ya mean, where are you? You're in Vatheon.

[Duh...?]

Sakura-san...

[Does that mean-]

Have I been here before?

[gorges]

[Wait, what?

Kyouko just looks at her for a minute, before rubbing the back of her head.] Sheesh...of course ya have. Don't you remember?

[Well wasn't this just peachy?]

[ So he was just heading back home from his shift as per his usual schedule but... what was this?

By the looks of things, she seemed freshly re-entered. How curious.

So, coming over with an offered towel and a bit of a curious look. ]

Tomoe-san?

Ah yes. Thank you very much, sir. [She takes the towel, marveling that someone else knew her name.] I'm afraid I don't remember who you are. I'm sorry...

Quite alright. It seems this happens more often as of late. One can't help but wonder why.

I should re-introduce myself then. Kazutaka Muraki, resident physician and this city that has pulled you in is Vatheon. We met before when you were here first and you helped me through a rather... embarrassing situation.

[He was just wandering his normal route, not really paying as much attention as he usually did when he sensed it. That presence he'd familiarized himself with since they'd worked together for so long. The strangeness of a heart that was kept inside a ring, a hint of tea and powerful magic... To hell with it, he was going to follow that presence instead, and when he finds her...

...There's a sinking feeling.] -Mami?

It would seem that Vatheon can be quite a cruel world indeed. She turns around to see who the voice belonged to, her expression and tone of voice apologetic once she spotted who it was.

... a boy? about her age... or older-]

[Now, she felt really guilty. If she had met a lot of people during her first time here... all those precious memories gone.]
