She stood there, paralyzed in shock as the witch loomed in for the kill. All she did was blink. One blink and she wasn't staring death in the face anymore. She wasn't in the Witch's Barrier with Madoka and Sayaka, who were witnessing how once a powerful Puella Magi fell to her doom. Mami gave a start, finally noticing how soaked her Puella Magi outfit was. Even changing back into her school uniform did nothing to dry her clothes nor her hair.

'I'm... alive?' was the first thought that came to mind. She turned to look around at her surroundings, not recognizing each building, each little store she saw. What made the sight more odd was the glowing coral in the middle of everything. Mami felt a slight tingle at the back of her left hand, giving a gasp when she saw a mark of some sort on her skin, like she was branded by someone.

No, this wasn't a work of a witch. Her Soul Gem would have reacted to the changes, gone crazy at all of this. So, if this wasn't a witch then...

"Where on earth... am I?"

Well, first he'd need a way to lead towards. He was still finding his away around, and while he had a basic idea of what was where, a solid destination would be a good thing to have in mind.

With that, nodded apologetically.

"If you'll give me a minute to get my bearings..." and kicked up off from the ground, floating up a few stories to get the lay of the land.

Well now. It would seem Vatheon brings all types of people here. Mami stared in surprise for a moment, gathering her bearings as she started up where Gohan went.

She called out to him. "Would you need some help?"

"Maybe just a little," he said, floating back down. "D'you want me to take you up, let you see what way you might like to go?"

At which point the missing limb would become... well, rather impossible to disguise, but Gohan's getting the impression that she's mature enough to take it in stride.

Mami would hate to be a burden to Gohan. She's not quite sure if she could keep her powers a secret for long in this world. Maybe just this once...

"No, that won't be necessary," She held out her left hand and a tiny golden yellow jewel appeared in her palm. "But I would appreciate it if you keep this between us for now."

With a sweeping motion of her hand, a golden yellow glow surrounded her. After that brief light show--

Out comes Mami Tomoe wearing completely different clothes. Gohan may sense a strong power coming from her.

Once she had settled down, she turned to look at Gohan with an apologetic smile on her face.

"I apologize for... the theatrics, as it were. Being in this form would make it easier for me to keep up with you. Would that suffice?"

A seemingly normal human with a transformation? No, not something you see every day... He wonders if the clothes add or detract anything from her power--which is, indeed, much greater than it was prior.

"Nothing to apologize for. That's very useful."

He hovers, rises, and smiles. "If you want to keep this under wraps, we should probably stay high. Over rooftops, if possible. That should be precaution enough to keep us from being identified, at least."

"All right," she nodded. "I understand." Mami bended her knees and jumped, high enough to reach the lamp post. One more jump and she was standing on the ledge of a nearby building.

"Shall we go then?"

So she couldn't fly. The idea of someone having that much power and not being able to do a simple thing like flying... Well, maybe no one had taught her, and it wasn't Gohan's place to offer.

"Sure."

He floated towards the next building at a relaxed place. Nice and tall, the windows were wide, and the apartments seemed mostly devoid of occupants.

"I don't know if here would be nice... it's near everything and looks quiet, though."

Mami followed behind, matching his pace. They weren't really in a hurry after all and it was nice seeing the city like this.

"Hmm..." Mami gave the apartment a glance before answering Gohan. "Perhaps a survey of the whole area would suffice for now, yes?"
